Product Overview

Our Maxx Air 1,650 CFM Gable Attic Fan is built to ventilate residential attic spaces up to 2,500 sq. ft. and is a great fit for situations in which roof-mounting is impractical. Constructed using a durable galvanized steel shroud and blades to resist heat distortion, and paired with a mounting system engineered to minimize vibration and ensure quiet operation. Install is straightforward with our easy to use mounting brackets and requires no special tools to complete. Our gable vent includes a pre-wired thermostat to run the exhaust fan only when you need it, minimizing it's operational cost. This electric fan is designed to prolong the life of composition roof shingles by lowering summer attic temperatures and helps to protect attic insulation against mold and mildew in the winter by removing moisure-filled air. Install behind existing louvers or purchase our shutter model (CX2121AM), and swap your pre-wired thermostat for a thermostat/humidistat combo (XXDUOSTAT) for greater control.
  • Ventilates attic spaces up to 2,500 sq. ft.
  • Galvanized steel shroud with precision balanced 14 in. fan blades
  • Factory assembled for easy install-no holes in roof required. Includes bracket system for mounting.
  • Adjustable thermostat settings from 50 - 120°F to run only when needed
  • Heavy-duty motor keeps your home attic cooler and can reduce air conditioning costs
  • Requires 624 sq. in. of NFA intake ventilation

Very powerful fan!
At 1650rpms, this fan is very loud, but it does what it is meant to do. I have two of them: one is mounted vertically in my garage's ceiling to pull the hot air out of the garage & blowing into my vented attic. The airflow is so strong that this one fan reduces my attic temp (1950 sqft) dramatically so that I can do just about anything in the attic without passing out from the heat - this was not the intended purpose of this fan but boy, do I ever enjoy this side affect! The second fan was supposed to have gone on the other end of my garage's ceiling so that I'd have 2 fans pulling the hot air out of the garage into the attic...but I had a DiY epiphany: I installed the second fan into my garage's wall butted with the laundry room! Why, you ask? Well, I have the one fan pulling hot air out but nothing cool is coming in, so the second fan pulls from the laundry room, blowing into the garage! I have a PAC that was vented into the attic, but it was more problematic than it was worth. I do not want my garage A/C'd, I am only in it (for the most part) to smoke since I do not smoke inside of my house (yeah, I can hear the "You should just stop smoking..." comments!), so unless I'm doing something long term with my vehicles, I am only in the garage at tops for 10 minutes to smoke...I'll use the PAC out on the lanai when guests are over! This was a decent investment...now to do some finishing on them both: borders on both, a screen or functional louvers on the wall. Oh, FYI: do not attempt to put a solid state speed control, e.g. dimmer switch, etc. on this fan (that happens to be #1 of the Do Not Do list in the instructions). I wanted one (had one) on the wall fan to control its speed while I'm in the garage, but...

Best I could find for the money, so-so value, does the job.
in the research I found that many people had some concerns and as it turns out, they are correct. I would love to talk to the company and offer some help. 1. The bolts heads are just wrong. they are shouldered heads and should be flat pan heads. They will hit the blade. Bad design. I purchased two nuts with a lock washer between them so they do not vibrate loose. 2. Pay attention to thermostat. The directions showed using the air hole to wire in the power. That is wrong, needs to be unblocked to sense the temp. Mine was received defectived and the replacement had a second hole on the side of the box with wires going to the motor. once replaced it works fine. 3. I built a framed half circle gable mount since that was what i have in my house and I did remove the center 2x4 that would have blocked the middle of the airflow. I then built a structure to span that center structure to the outside 2x4 frame studs ( love that snow weight) and the 2x4 frame with double 3/4 inch plywood makes a stable mount and you can true up the mount and remove most of the excess vibration. 4. sloppy motor mounts from factory, they were off by 3/8 inch. This was a majoe source of vibration. I remarked and redrilled mount brackets. Just measure the distance from edge to hole where the fan is mounted prior and not a big deal. 5. I used thick neoprene washers as isolators. this was worth while. All said and done, i have a good ventalation system. Home depot could put pressure on manucaturers to build better quality. Our sharing helps all to know before you buy and I did read about every issue I had, minus the defective thermostat. It is still better than anything else at his price I could find.

The fan works fine. It was the same size and mounting style as my old fan. It's been installed for a few months now and working fine. It was assembled with self tapping screws which I replaced with nuts, bolts and lock washers. That is why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars.

The fan was slightly bigger than my old one with the same dimensions, so we had to do some manufacturing to make it work. Overall, the fan isn't noisy at all. You can't even hear it running when outside, and can barely notice it inside.
