Free Solar Cooling
The product arrived in good shape and on schedule. The instructions were clear and adequate for the installation. Installation took 4.5 hours, including a trip to Home Depot for a sheet of OSB and a sawcut to prepare it for installation. When attaching the L brackets to the housing, be sure the bolts are pulled well down the slot toward the edge so the fan blade won't hit the heads. The wire on the solar panel is very long, which allows a lot of options for it's location. Knowing I would later shorten it, I didn't hesitate to clip off the spade lugs to facilitate poking the wire through the ridge vent into my garage attic. After installation, I covered the gable vent on the opposite side to draw more air through the house vents. Before winter, I plan to add a thermostat to keep from chilling the attic too much in cold weather. The fan is located over the garage, though I don't believe it would have been a problem over the living room as it is very quiet. I can't produce fact & figures yet, but our impression is the AC is running less, and the garage & kitchen are certainly cooler.

I read the reviews on this product and they all seemed to point to a good product. Alas, that is not the case. After installing the fan it worked great for almost 1 week. Now, the fan will not come on at all even though the sun is shining directly on the solar panels. I have checked all of the connections and even reconnected the wire from the panel to the fan again with no luck. It just will not run. The fan didn't get wet as far as I can tell since it is installed inside the attic. I hope I can return it to the store so my next task is to take it down and try to return it. Time will tell.

does what it is intended to do
Could take a little more care with packaging. Unit shroud slightly out of round. Otherwise nice product. Anxious to see how long components last.

I purchased this ventilator for a hobby greenhouse I built. It works very well and makes a noticeable difference in the temperature inside the green house (8' X12'). Be sure and add the plywood collar around the ring to help channel the air through the fan, makes it much more efficient. I'm adding a thermostat to it as well so that It only runs when I need it. very quiet.

Nice Solar Fan , Moves alot of Air
All in all this unit would have gotten 5 stars from me if they had put a little thought into the hardware supplied. I mean R56 cable clips for 18 gauge wire ? tall headed machine screws instead of pan or carriage bolts inside the fan housing very close to the fan blades and I tapped and used machine screws in the heavy aluminum solar panel frame instead of using the supplied sheet metal screws. but I would buy it again ,and recommend this unit., even if means you may find yourself taking a trip to Home Depot for better hardware.

save thge roof housing and replace the motor unit.
I am using these fans to replace brushed motor solar fans in the roof that the motor has died on. take the old motor and fan blade out and mount the fan to the bottom of the sub roof deck and re-use the old solar panels. they work great.

Just note doesn't have a bracket for solar panel
Haven't seen it work yet but one problem is i have to make or get a bracket to install the soar panel. Unless I am missing something is will be a pain. Mastercraft panel came pre-installed with a bracket on its panel

          Solar Attic Fan
Nice and quiet. Package arrived with some of the screws loose and a few were missing. Should of had eight but only had four. My handyman was still able to install using some of his screws.

          Has quality control issues.
When I removed the fan from the shipping box I noticed the fan didn't appear to be tight on the motor shaft. After further investigation I discovered the motor shaft was smaller that the blade assembly center diameter. I had to place some thin metal sheeting around the motor shaft to get it to fit properly so I could tighten the allen head retaining screw. The dynamic balance of the blades, when the is fan running, is still slightly off but it works.

Works according to spec, well worth the money
I've had this for a year now and it works very well. I am surprised about how powerful it is. I have it in my solarium and got a thermostat to control it. I wait for it to fail someday but am pleasantly surprised that it keeps on ticking. I am thinking of getting another. The solar panel is well worth the money hands down. The solar panel installation bracket needed modifications since I have it mounted on a vertical surface and not a horizontal roof which is what it's made for.

Not worth the money or your time
The first fan was delivered and the hardware was falling our of the box and most was missing. The second fan didn't work when I checked it before I installed it. I called their tech support and found I had set it up right and the fan was broken.

              Disappointed
First of all the product did not come with instructions. It also arrived with out proper mounting equipment. I had to make a trip to the store for bolts, nuts and screws. After finally mounting on the roof I was disappointed in the performance of the product. Don't waste your money.

              Works perfect!
I had to adjust the fan shroud because one of the blades was hitting the bracket but, after a few minor adjustments, it worked well. Installation was rather simple, even though I have a Terra Cotta Tile roof and had to make a free standing platform to mount the solar panel. I also placed an off/on switch in line, so that I could turn the fan off during winter months! My only negative comment would be, the price is a bit steep for the quality of the fan and it's parts but by the same token, living in Arizona with the outdoor temperature getting upward of 120 degrees, the attic gets over 140 and it's a good place for a fire to start and with that in mind, this fan is priceless if it saves lives!

And it seems to work well! The Ventamatic was easy to install and it has lowered my attic temperature by 10 degrees or more.
