A: Yes it does cost more the $300 for a package of 4 4X4 sections of "grey" redwood that needed be air dried for a few months. Previously it had been $125 and I balked at that and then when it went up again I stopped using redwood and switched to Douglas fir. The redwood (when dried) was nicer to work with but the price was just too steep, maybe the California tree huggers are saving their forest by over pricing the material.

A: Not sure what home Depot is doing with the pricing but per 4 pack when I bought it was $71.44;. It now lists for $135.44 per 4 pack. Not sure where you get the nearly $350.00 price from.

A: Yes, that is the current price, I originally purchased it for $125 last year then the price went up to $165 earlier this year which I thought was too expensive and hesitated to buy at $165 and the price went to $350 which is way to expensive for my projects. It is good would that comes “green” and needs to be air dried for a few months but becomes a very good finished piece. I have tried changing to kiln dried Douglas fir.

These are characterized in the description as appearance boards. The package I received may have been considered that by some, but at the boutique prices being asked, one should expect more than slightly better than construction grade lumber. Lots of sapwood, knots, and handling damage. Packing left two sides to the elements and damage. Overall, very disappointing product at point of delivery. Slow shipping time.

This is beautiful wood and the quality is excellent. I used it to construct a raised bed garden in my yard. Everyone who has seen my finished project has commented on how much they love the appearance of the redwood. It was also great to have it delivered right to my house. It is heavy stuff. It's also pretty expensive but if you're willing to pay the price you won't be disappointed.

This price is ridiculous!!! At 10.67 Board Feet per post we have about 43 Board Feet of lumber in the 4-pack. That pencils out to $7322 per MBF (thousand board feet). It is average quality (at best) 2nd growth green redwood lumber. The same wood sold in the same store in a 2" X 6" X 10' piece is $1767 per MBF. This is the price quoted in the Ukiah, CA store which is about a 15 minute drive from the MFP mill where this lumber is cut to trying to explain the astronomical price as a shipping cost is not right either. Vote with your wallet and buy your wood from someone else. LEE
