A:  Hello, Thank you for your interest in our Kings Flatlands Encaustic tile. Our samples are pieces that are cuts from the tile itself. The defining feature of this encaustic-inspired tile is the unique, low-sheen glaze. The union of sharp angles and simplistic curves are offset by the pattern in the center, an intriguing hybrid of floral designs and a snowflake, all in faded blue and golden-yellow. Designed by interior architect and furniture designer Francisco Segarra, this tile is a true reflection of vintage industrial design. Imitations of scuffs and spots that are the marks of well-loved, worn, century-old tile bring rustic charm to your interior. There are 10 different variations of this tile randomly scattered throughout each case. The scored grout lines can be grouted with the color of your choice to further customize your installation. A:  You should look for some places in your garden or patio area to put these large tiles, then put some flower pots on top of them. The tile colors are gorgeous. You can also use the tiles on top of a bureau or table for decoration & to protect the wood of the furniture; add a plant for an old Italy look. I have the 9" x 9" samples of this tile & I use them to put hot drinks or plates on. Use them outdoors on top of a table for drinks & food. A little creativity & you can use these extra tiles to make your outdoors or indoors look like old Italy. If that doesn't work for you, put them on Craigslist for a few $$.

A:  Hi Kate, We offer samples of this item. However, samples of this tile come adhered to 4.5” x 5” sample cards, offering a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole tile. To see the whole tile, we recommend ordering a case. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity that they are sold (for this, by the case). Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glass, glazed tile and stone. The actual material received may vary from this sample. The pattern, shape, dye lot (color) and size of the actual tile received may vary. A:  You can't get a sample tile of the 17 5/8" size, but I got 4 pieces of the 9-inch version (also on Home Depot) because I couldn't decide on the smaller or the larger tiles for my small kitchen. I love this pattern & the colors. The yellow is actually yellow, not a brownish yellow. True, it does have some "worn" areas on them (just color) but they look so Tuscan. I use my 4 tile sample pieces now as plate warmers or to put hot drinks on. You should order the 9-inch samples (they are $5 each) to see the colors & the pattern. If you like them, then you'll have to decide on what size. I chose the larger size for a small kitchen because I think that the 9-inch tiles might be too busy & the large pattern has larger areas of white, which I like.

A:  I used a coffee colored grout that looks nice if you want the square outlines of the tile to be accented

A:  Good Afternoon, This tile can be used with sanded grout in both grout locations. When installing grout into the shallow joints, remember that you will not need as much as the grout lines between tiles will need. Be sure to clean the grout off the surface of the tile while it is still wet to prevent having grout permanently on the tile.
