When selecting a trowel, you need to be sure that it is recommended for use with a tile that size. We always recommend Custom Building Products setting materials, and they also offer setting tools. Hi, VT! Though similar, the difference between our Metro Subway Tile and our Hudson Subway Tile is that our Metro Tile has a matte finish whereas the Hudson Tile has a glossy finish. Hi midnight, Unfortunately, Merola does not carry any subway tiles that measure at 2”x4” or 2”x6”. We can offer a suggestion, but ultimately it would be up to you to determine whether or not it would work for your project. We would recommend looking into our Metro Soho Subway Matte White https://thd.co/2BMI2cG. While this doesn’t fit perfectly into the sizes you’re looking for, this is close to being a 2”x8” subway tile. If these tiles are too large for your installation, you could use a wet saw with a diamond tipped blade to cut them down to the required size. We always recommend the use of a wet saw as it offers the best cut with the least chance of breakage. After you finish cutting the tiles, you might want to sand the edges to smooth them down as they have the potential to be very sharp. In situations like this, we would recommend ordering samples from The Home Depot! This comes on a 3”x4” sample card which offer a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole tile https://thd.co/2qyTGmC. To be able to see the whole tile, we recommend ordering one pack. Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glazed tile. The pattern, shape, dye lot (color) and size of the actual tile received may vary. Hi LMB, Yes, our Metro Subway Matte White can be installed inside a shower and above a sink with the backing on it! If the background construction is done properly, there should be no issues with the installation. If desired, you can remove the chips from the mesh to place them as you would like. If a chip falls off the mesh, we would recommend installing the chip into place instead of attempting to adhere it back onto the mesh.
