Q:Reviews say this tile needs to be sealed or else it will stain with footprints etc. Love the tile, but we have well water so tile chosen can't be susceptible to stains. It's porcelain what else should I look at to ensure no stains nor having to seal??

Q:Hello. I see in many Answers to Questions that this Retro Hex Nero tile is a PEI rating of 4. In the product description, it's listed as PEI 2. Which is accurate? This will be going in an enclosed sunroom that leads from indoor to outdoor. Thank you.

Not for inside floors
I have had this tile in my newly remodeled kitchen for almost a year. This is definitely not for kitchen floors. Any and all dirt from outside will be scraped off your shoes and fill every crevice in the tile. When it was being installed, I asked about sealing it and was told it was factory sealed. There is no shine or indication that it is sealed. Anything spilled is absorbed into the tile and hand scrubbing with bathroom cleaner or hydrogen peroxide is only way to remove some stains. It is a pretty tile, but unless you install it outside and can power wash it, it will never be clean. After trying several floor machines, I use the Bessel Crosswave Pet Pro vac and I still need to throw cleaner water on the floor to flush the dirt out of the crevices as I vacuum. I am trying to find a contractor to redo tile by professionally steam cleaning the tile and put some type of sealer on it to see if that helps. If not, after spending a small fortune on remodeling, this tile will be gone when I can afford to remove it.

Love the look, unsure about cleaning!
We recently have this tile installed in our kitchen and I absolutely love the look for a farmhouse kitchen. Given how rough and porous it feels I am really concerned about cleaning. I wonder if there’s a way to put a sealant on it so it cleans easier?

Hi! Sealing our Retro Hex Blanc is not necessary. It is not hard to keep clean and like all of our products, is rather easy to maintain. Aside from soap and water, we also recommend using a neutral, non-acidic cleaner that is safe for everyday cleaning. This tile is a heavy, large format hexagon pattern tile. It has a very rough finish that would be absolutely difficult to clean. The finish look of the tile is to appear like. Wood floor that was painted and is wearing away “rustic” in appearance. The edges of the tile are rough and should hold grout very well. With the incredibly rough sandy textured finish, it would be perfect for no slip areas however, imagine cleaning it. I recommend getting a sample to feel it for yourself prior to going all in.

It looks just like white washed wood and it even feels like white washed wood. I can’t wait to get it into my engraver and see how it engraves! It’s going to look great on our outdoor porch wall and fit right into the decor. It would look great in any style home to give it just that great looking final touch! Paired with the 8 1/4 in. X 24’ tile as accent it would put that design right over the top.

This tile is so awesome looking. The surface of the tile has a wood grain texture imprinted on it. It genuinely looks like wood that was painted and has aged and the paint has been worn off. The surface feels rough to the touch, so I was a little concerned about the feel on my bare feet, but it is fine. I used this on my bathroom floor which is a smaller area, so I did have to make quite a few cuts. Finished product looks great.

An absolutely beautiful tile, no doubt! It is solidly made, stood up well to a not so friendly ride to my house from the point of shipping, even so much as the interior packaging was damaged but the tiles were unscathed! Unheard of. I would have expected them to be damaged too, but they came and would never have known of the rough ride they took.
As for the look, and this is solely a matter of personal preference, I'm not totally on board with the look of the wood type thing with the hexagon of tiles. Or at least I think it supposed to look like wood, maybe just worn tile. Either way, when I see these, I see weathered wood as the pattern and as a hex tile, it just doesn't work for me.
However, my wife likes these way more than I would have imagined and depending upon how things work out, she may get her wish. I like the solidness of the tile, the random pattern in each box, and the overall quality of these. I feel like if I had put these down instead of laminate, I would not be in a position to have to re-laminate after only 7 or 8 years.

This tile is great. I was drawn to it right away. I love the old whitewashed look to it. It even has spots that look like old rusted nails. The only thing that I am not sure of is the hexagonal design. I think I would like it better if it was in large squares or rectangle tiles to make it look more authentic. But we shall see it may look amazing as I put it down. Going in the bathroom because I have a rustic theme going on there.

Dirt Collector!
I absolutely love the look of this tile, but it is so hard to clean and it collects dirt like crazy. I have to do a multi-step cleaning process. 1st, sprinkle baking soda and then pouring vinegar on that and scrubbing with a scrub brush. Then 2nd, take my Bissell Crosswave and suck up the mixture, then rinse a few more time. My water never truly comes up clear and it’s a workout to get it clean. Wish there was a way to seal it.
