Is the steel roof sturdy to walk on.

Asked by Sue March 23, 2021
1
Answer

Yes you can walk on the steel. But only step in the flat parts of the panel, not the ribs and only step where there is support under the panels if you are installing over open framing. Finally make sure panels are securely fastened to the roof before stepping on them to prevent sliding off the roof.

how much to cover a 1000 sq ft structure

Asked by SHARON February 28, 2021
1
Answer

it depends on the shape and slope of the roof. To get an accurate list of panels and trims needed, I would visit the ProDesk of your local Home Depot store with measurements and photos of the roof. They can work up and estimate for the panels and flashings needed. They can also order panels cut to the nearest inch if required to make installation easier. Generally you can take the eave length in feet and divide by 3 to get the number of panels at the length needed. 63' divided by 3 = 21 panels. 21 panel at 16' long is 1008 sf.

Is it possible to get both sides painted the same color?

Yo know I'm not sure you might have to ask the store or get a hold of the company that makes them, or might to have to paint them yourself

can product be installed over existing shingles

Asked by brenton February 12, 2021
1
Answer

Metal Sales recommends three methods for installing metal roof panels on a building with existing asphalt shingles. The first method is to install battens on the existing shingles, the second method is to remove the shingles and the third method is to install the panels directly over the shingles. The key is to make sure the panels attach to a new substrate that is a level plane. The metal panels will look wavy if they are installed on an uneven surface. All three methods are referenced in Section 1510 in IBC 2012, Section 1511 in IBC 2015 and Section 1511 in IBC 2018. you can google for more info. Make sure your screw is long enough to screw into the existing plywood substrate.

I need 30'8" long sheets, can I order them ?

Asked by Adrian February 9, 2021
1
Answer

Yes, you will have to go to your local Home Depot store ProDesk. They can place an order for you in lengths cut down to the nearest inch for easy installation. You can also order flashings, accessories and fasteners if needed for the install.

How wide are the panels?

Asked by Chas January 24, 2021
1
Answer

When you are side-lapping multiple panels on a roof or wall the coverage width for the panel is 36". 1 Classic Rib Panel, by itself, is about 38" wide.

Are these sheets flexible enough to be attached to a slightly arched patio cover?

Asked by ArchPation January 11, 2021
1
Answer

Slightly arched maybe, not curved. If you have a 16' panel and you hold it in the middle of the panel it will curve slightly before bending. That's the extent to which it will curve. The ribs in the panel prevent it from curving too much.

The panels lay perfectly on each other. I put them up without any adhesive temporarily and they never leaked a drop even thru a tropical depression here in Florida. Quality workmanship for sure.

This is my second use of this product: - the panels seem to be very durable - there are plenty of on-line videos showing the installation - the self tapping/sealing screws work well - there are several trim and finishing products available to match the panels Even the 16-foot panels I used on the latest project were fairly easy to use, while it is best to have two people to move them around due to the length, once stacked on the roof they were simple to set in place and secure. I will be using this product again.

This is a good quality product. The reason for the 3 stars is the brown color I ordered was painted on one side only. The other side was painted white "primer" I ordered mine to cover my patio which has an open frame. The brown shade is not as dark as the picture shows online. Few of the panels had scratched on them.
