A must-have if you use table-type power tools. Working on my router table and jointer/planer I always felt nervous when pushing or feeding a workpiece through it; same with a table saw. A friend of mine suggested the Microjig line of products and it was the best recommendation ever! I actually feel safer and more in control using this push block when routing a dado, or a roundover, and the smart hook feature is outstanding for extra stability at the end of a piece you are working with. The GRR-RIP block feels really good in my hand and allows me to keep just the right amount of downward and sideway pressure on what I am working on. I feel no ‘slip or slop’ while using it and my push sticks just don’t fell as safe as this (I still use them occasionally though). On top of all of this, Microjig has videos on their website on how to use it, so there is no “I wonder if…” associated with it. I honestly think this is one of the best investments you can make if you are a novice woodworker like me. And it’s made in the USA!

The MicroJig Grr-Rip is great. Most push blocks are just a handle and maybe a piece of flat foam to give it some grip, this is not one of those push blocks. Yes there is a foam like material on the bottom, but it is molded to have small protrusions that stick down to grip the work piece. Additionally the Grr-Rip has pieces that can drop down in either the front or back of the work piece to give you more control. This comes in handy when the work piece is small and needs to have a edge you can get from a router. It keeps you finger out of harms way.

Another good item by micro jig. I do a couple of projects of woodwork when I have spare time and I really like to use micro jig products. This push block is great and I really like the extra features in it compared to a regular push block. The material on the bottom of it grabs what you’re pushing very good. Gripping material has a lot of surface for good support. I have not had any slip even on wood I have already planed. I really like the smart hooks on it I can grab onto the rear of a piece of wood as I’m pushing it through and it’s those details that make Micro jig different. A push block definitely makes it a lot safer using a jointer or planer. The plastic on it doesn’t feel like it’s superstrong but it actually holds up pretty good as I have other products of them and have had no issues. I also used it with my tablesaw a couple times on some large lumber and it worked out great. If you do woodworking or even do projects were you required to do some woodworking this push block makes things a lot safer and it’s features makes the job easier.

SUMMARY: A GREAT PUSHBLOCK.
BACKGROUND: I use a router table, bandsaw, jointer, and table saw in some of my work. I have a variety of push sticks and blocks I use to help handle the workpieces. The Microjig company has a reputation for innovative safety products. The chance to evaluate their Smart Hook pushblock was too good to pass up.
FIT AND FINISH: The pushblock is made using plastic, but the main parts feel very sturdy. The yellow plastic is easy to see (so it’s easy to find.) The green gripper pad is softer than the plastic body parts and feels like a good grip for work pieces.
FEATURES: (From the Home Depot page, with my comments as appropriate.)
Use the 90° flip guide for vertical footing on band saws and router tables, while maintaining full use of the Smart Heels.
• Auto-retracting “Smart Heel” technology hooks the tail-end of your board
◦ This is one of the nicest features of this push block for me. There are two drop-down hooks that are gravity operated. If the pushblock is at the end of the board they drop down to provide positive control of the workpiece through the tool. If you place the pushblock on the top of the piece the hooks simply rotate back up out of the way. There is also a detent that allows you to lock the hooks out of the way.
• Proprietary Green GRR-RIP allows dust and debris to escape for extreme traction.
◦ The bottom pad has small “buttons” that stand just proud of the pad. This allows the pad to push aside sawdust to provide a grip.
• 90° flip guide for vertical footing on band saws and router tables
◦ The side of the pushblock gives it a stable foot when pushing sideways on a piece.
• Ergonomic handle exerts directional pressure against the fence
◦ This is a very comfortable handle. A little better texturing in the mold would make is more secure feeling.
• Optional mounts for deflector/connector shield plate for additional protection against chip debris
◦ You can purchase a clear plastic shield that attaches to the 90 degree boss to provide increased protection from flying chips while routing or edge sawing.
OPERATION: This is ready to use out of the package. The pushblock works like most other block-type tools. I found it much more comfortable and felt inherently safer when using it.
The pushblock is not an excuse for bad shop practices, but makes my normal work more comfortable and easy.
SUMMARY: A good addition to, and replacement for, my push block arsenal.
PROS: Easy to use, comfortable, sturdy
CONS: Could use texturing on the molded handle for more positive grip.

I like this gripper block when using my table saw. I only had been able to use it for a brief time due to the current quarantine going on, but it works much better than my standard push block. I feel that the gripper bottom, which groups very nicely to woods when cleaned of dust,g me increased control and that makes me feel a little safer with the table saw. I also plan to use it with my router table on my next project. It is plastic but the handle is very solid and the bottom gripper it's made of a rubber type material. The automatic locks slip down to help catch the edges of the wood that you are cutting and also retract via gravity. These to feel a little flimsy but the main force is used in the bottom grip pad. overall nice safety product and good for the average homeowner or DIY person.

Been wanting this Microjig GRR-RIP BLOCK Smart Hook Pushblock for use on my Router Table, Band Saw, Jointer and Table Saw. This product, along with my other Microjig products bring a lot of safety to my woodworking projects. Anything that is going to help to keeping me safe and all my fingers is going to end up in my shop at some point in time. This Pushblock is so simple and easy to use I don't know why Microjig didn't come out with it years ago. The Smart hooks give you a very safe and stable grip on the wood as you push it along. The Green GRR-RIP pad really grips the wood for a smooth push through the saw blades or router bit. The angle of the handle makes for a very comfortable fit in your hand. This will be getting a lot of use in my shop.

This is a must have if you own a table saw - more so if you don't use it often. This is a safety device. It allows you to safely move your stock (or the piece of wood you are cutting) past the blade for a clean cut with controlled movement of your stock. The GRR-RIP BLOCK has a field of green bumps on the base of the unit to grab onto your stock. In addition, and this is great, there are two "smart hooks" (on each end) that drop down from the BLOCK to prevent the BLOCK from sliding during the cutting process. You have the ability to lock up and out of the way any of the four smart hooks. For example, lock up the leading two hooks and leave the back two down when you gently push your stock through the blade. The handle is very large with a significant space under the handle - great for large hands - but still quite usable for someone with smaller hands. For someone who over the years used scrap 2x wood or a paint stick, this accessory adds safety and precision to your cuts. With a 3-year warranty and a 88 day full refund policy, MicroJig's GRR-RIP BLOCK is not only helpful for perfect cut but also a safety accessory.

A quality push block which won’t slip. Be smart and keep your hands away from the wood working toll blades. A quality push block is an essential tool and part of your safety collection. I like how this one has such a large pad and the “feet” which can be extended on either end to provide more control when pushing wood forward. I have quite a few MicroJig products and they are all well made and used frequently.

The GRR-RIP BLOCK is great push block for ripping material on a table saw which is my most common use. I have handmade and other store bought push blocks but this accessory beats them all when it comes to safety and accuracy. The slanted handle (make sure you slant it the right way) helps keep the material against the fence. No doubt using the push block on it's side will be handy when for certain cuts on a table saw, router or band saw.

I love this pushblock. I feel so much more confident and also safer using this while working with the table saw. The pushblock is well weighted. It feels solid and has a strong grip. I like the smart hooks, as they call them, to help grab and push. They have a perfect thickness and also lock into place, so as not to move or release during longer cuts.
