These clamps are designed to fit in a groove cut with a half inch diameter fourteen degree dovetail router bit. The short arm of the ell shaped part of the tool has a fourteen degree bevel to fit in a dovetail groove, allowing me to clamp the grooved part to my table saw or router table. The product packaging illustrates several useful ways to use it to clamp a work piece or custom fence to a work bench, table saw or router table. An internet search shows numerous examples of these clamps being used to solve otherwise intractable problems. What seems like a rather specialized clamping product has already proved its value to me.

These are fantastic. They really are. If you are a woodworker then you need these. I use them for two things. The first is to attach a board to my table saw fence so that I don't cut into my fence with the saw blade when making cuts close to the fence. In conjunction with this you can make the wood you attach to your fence longer than the table saw fence which results in a more stable surface when cutting longer pieces of wood. The other purpose I use them for is to hold down a wood straight edge. Using this product, I don't have to use clamps that frequently get in the way. I can cut a groove in the bottom of the wood and clamp from underneath. I find that when I clamp from the top the clamp frequently gets in the way of my router or saw. In order to use these, you will need to buy a Dovetail router bit. It needs to have a 14-degree angle, be one half inches wide and three eighths inches deep. They are readily available. Then you cut a groove in the wood you want to use for a guide as a straight edge or on the saw fence. You simply insert this clamp into that grove and then tighten the handle on the other side of the saw fence or on the underside of the table you are working on. It works great. Highly recommended. I have attached two photos of the product. The first shows the grooves I cut into a piece of wood with the dovetail bit. Then I slide the product into the groove and attach to my table saw fence. It was raining when did this and so I could not get my table saw out to show that part. The next photo shows how the wood can be attached to a bench and then used for a straightedge for cutting. The manufacturer has other suggestions, but these two ways are the primary methods I use.

These clamps are without a doubt the best thing going. They now come with a more cushioned grip for better torque. They can be used for any type of clamping, for drill press, router table and table saw. I will use them mainly on my table saw for a scarificial fence when cutting thin pieces of wood or other objects that may slide under the stock fence. Check my photos for this application.

Received the MATCHFIT DOVETAIL CLAMPS (2-PACK) FOR USE WITH 1/2 IN. 14 DEGREE DOVETAIL JOINTS several months ago. I have used these a couple times now and it does make the job on hand a lot easier. By using these clamps it does keep the dovetails in place until the glue is dried. My neighbor borrows these clamps from me all the time, his statement, they are the best he has used, made very well.

These clamps are small and lightweight, belying their usefulness and many potential applications. They are strong and readily adjustable and hold their position well. A specialized router bit and a router are required to make custom mounts for the clamps. I was disappointed that the boards with the Micro-Jig logo that are shown in the listing do not seem to be available.
