My DIY woodworking needs are limited and never approach fine carpentry. But on occasion I need to determine angle cuts. So the IDEA behind this tool is very much appreciated. Unfortunately its design and execution didn’t meet my needs or expectations. Had it not been for the video provided on the product’s Home Depot description page, I would’ve been dumbfounded how to use it, as it came with virtually no instructions. Also, the calibration markings are quite imprecise—though the idea of the tool is to avoid using precise numbers and instead use the tool guide to align you miter saw. If used as directed in the video, the tool does a good job of cutting precise angles needed. But, in my opinion, using it is not as obvious or intuitive as the producer assumes.

I have slowly been replacing my fascia boards but have avoided the peaks because they are a bit more complicated with odd angles and a compound miter to give architectural detail. I did one with out this and it was a pain getting everything to match. I pulled another one down this weekend and used this to just copy the angles and it worked perfectly. So much less work than last time. It has an easy to use cam lock to hold it in place once you set it and some pop out wings to use it along the edge of a board if you need. Probably not a tool I need often but when you do it saves so much time and frustration.

This AngleFinder made by Milescraft must not have very good quality control. When I put my steel carpenter square to make sure it show 90 degree I found out it off 2 degrees. I did try to see if there was an adjustment but there was not. Please see picture. The degree marks is 10 degrees increments so it is difficult to find the exact degree that you need to make exact cuts. Especially if you are try to use for miter cuts. The only good thing I have to say about it that is made sturdy. My advice is to save you money and purchase some other product that give you more degree markings and more accurate.

This device is basically a variable angle, square that you move to match the angle that exists (Inside or outside angles) so you can duplicate the angle on another piece of material or even transfer the angle to your miter saw when cutting angles and bevels (as well as half angles for such) Its constructed of a nice heavyweight plastic like material and can be locked into position when you find the angle you need to duplicate. Easy to use and a great time and material saver as it aids you in making the right cut the very first time.

This angle finder is as simple as fitting its two arms to each side ot your workpiece. The main intention is to confirm the angle of a corner for moulding or baseboards and then take the angle finder to the miter saw to accurately cut each half angle: use one arm on the saw fence and the middle yellow divider along the saw blade to set the appropriate angle. The device has a pressure tab to "lock"it into place but the gears are stiff enough that it's not entirely necessary. The angle finder however is not intended to tell you an exact numerical readout of the angle. Its "display" has a tick mark for every ten degrees so if you need a precise angle calculation to the decimal this is not the tool for you. It can confirm inside and outside corners and has edge holders if you need to place it on top of a work piece. Overall a handy tool.

I tested it on a right angle and it was off by several degrees. I tried it on a flat surface for 180 degrees and it became obvious why it was off: it wasn't flush. I played with it a while and the gear teeth finally lined up. So needless to say, I'm was not too happy with the product. Now it is working fine, but I have to double check it each time on a 180 degree surface.

This Milescraft Angle Finder takes all the guesswork out of determining angles - both inside and outside angles. You just need to open it up by pulling it apart and resting it flat against both surfaces, lock in the angle degree by pushing the red lever down and head for the saw to make your cut. The yellow angle divider also indicates the exact center of an angle and is great for making mitre cuts. It can measure angles from 0° to 180°. The retractable edge guides really come in handy for finding the outside angle of a flat surface such as a table or planter. In one of the pictures below I was trying to get the angle of an 8-sided plant stand by holding and balancing the angle finder on top of the stand.....I wasn't able to keep it steady and leveled against both surfaces for an accurate reading. However, when I used the retractable edge guides, the angle finder sat right on the edge, flat on both surfaces and I got the correct angle. This is a great addition to my toolbox and will be used often.
