Like a speed square with a removable shoe, this square would be most suited for use in a home cabinetry shop (rather than a construction site). While the 12 inch and 11 inch scales (with hash marks every 1/8 inch) have conveniently located pencil holes (at each 1/4 inch interval), sliding the square along the polymeric "shoe" will, in time, wear the material and result in a reduction in accuracy. The shoe can be removed for use of the square as a compass for drawing circles, however the hardware securing the shoe is not retained permitting the nut to spin and, ultimately when finally loosened, drop on the floor. As received, the fit between the shoe and the metal square is quite tight, making removal difficult. In addition to the above mentioned markings every 1/8 inch, there are two sets of slots which will facilitate locating either a 30 degree or 45 degree line. A protractor scale is included for angles from zero to ninety degrees, with a convenient pivot hole at the vertex of the compass. A set of holes consistent with the needs for those installing European style hinges, shelf pins and fasteners is provided marked with the appropriate metric dimensions. The major shortcoming of this tool is the markings. They are all part of the powder coated finish and, once scraped or damaged, will be obliterated (the steel square is not engraved). As there were a number of places where the powder coating had been applied over pits or contaminants, the longevity of the coating may be questionable. This would be a good tool for a beginner or student woodworker, where it will not be subject to the arduous duty of a construction environment.

This Milescraft framers square is one of the nicest squares I have seen.I have plastic and aluminium squares but this one has so much more.It is made of steel and painted silver with black numbers and lettering that shows up well.It incorporates marking holes every 1/4 inch for easy marking and has markers for 30 and 45 degrees. It has 0 to 90 degree radius built in for easy use.It has markings for 26mm and 36mm hidden hinges as well as for shelving spacing in cabinets. It has all you could want in a square and more and I cant recommend enough.

The most important feature of a square is to be square and this one is. My digital protractor measured it at 90.0 degrees. This square is heavy gauge metal with smoothly rounded edges making it comfortable to handle. It weighs a robust 13 ounces. It's 12" long and about 8" wide. It is labeled the same on both sides. There is a plastic edge guide on each side of the square. The 90 degree protractor is marked in degrees and is pretty easy to read to the nearest degree. There are rounded holes for making layout marks every 1/4" on the upright. Slots cut into the square let you mark two portions of a 30 or 45 degree line which can then be connected with a straightedge. The included card illustrates how to use the small holes in the base to layout euro style hinge mounting holes in cabinet doors. The product description says "Built in retractable edge guide", but I can't figure out what it's referring to since there are no movable parts.

Pretty good
The square itself is well made and really nice to work with. What I didn't catch was it only measures to an 1/8 of an inch and not to 1/16ths. Oversight on my part and I really needed it to measure to 1/6ths. I'll use it, but not on what I wanted to use it for.

The square has a nice heft to it and has some practical applications. The quality of the ‘etching’ is sub-par and coating scratches easily. Decent tool for the price point with some solid thought behind it.
      Great little square
good for accurate repetitive work good for layouts

Well made and sturdy. Probably not quite as versatile as a sliding square, but for framing it works well.
