Although by now Im sure you're done with your project, for anyone else reading, I used both pan heads and Kreg screws (the competition) when I built my work bench. Both worked fine. https://youtu.be/huVvGh329Kw?t=73

Just wondering if this jig would work for 5/8 thick plywood. If yes, what size of screws does it take?

I’ve only used it on standard dimensional lumber so I have no clue on the setup or screws needed. I would sample it on scraps first.

What size drill bits can you use with this jig set

You must use the special bit the comes with the kit because it is the right size for the head of the special screws and it has a long tip. You only the drill bit that is meant for the pocket hole jig.

Easy to use, just need good clamp to keep in place.... Box not very sturdy, cannot store unless you disassemble lock collar from drill. I need to make a wood box to hold all the pieces...I, the meantime, I am so used to doing my own holes the old way, I have to work with this more to get into the habit of using it all the time. Very reasonable, could use regular screws in a pinch.

(What's this)
I had never used a woodworking jig before, but by using the supplied instructions and working through the process one time I found it to be a very simple and effective way to join boards together with a hidden fastener look. I practice on a couple of used boards and was able to install for pocket screws and the result was a very strong joint. The kit comes with the jig, drill bit, screws and driver bit that all work together making the project simple and straightforward. The only problem I had was the quickchange coupler which fits in your drill did not secure the bit or driver well enough. Other than that it was great and I recommend this product.

A good alternative to the more expensive Kreg if you're doing small or infrequent jobs. It's a bit flimsy and can move some when you're drilling, even with a clamp. Overall it worked well for my table.

(What's this)
In the past, I've exclusively used biscuit joinery to create a strong joint when connecting cabinet boards together. Not anymore. The Milescraft PocketJig200 has added another, just as strong (perhaps stronger), technique to my toolbox. This tool is very easy to use once the basic mechanics of setting up the tool are mastered. Fast? For sure. Joining cabinet walls and doors are both fast and professional looking. The instructions are clear, but do need to be well understood to get the right penetration point in the piece to which the piece your drilling is to be mounted, and to ensure that enough material is available in the piece that is being drilled to support the pressure from the screw head. The jig makes that super easy. You may need to clean out the drill bit channels in the jig on first use, as I did, but all subsequent uses are tight and almost frictionless. The flutes of the drill never clogged with waste material and the drill could be used at standard wood drilling speeds. Very visible marks on the jig clearly show where to align the special, supplied drill bit (do not attempt to use a standard bit for this, it won't give you the results you want) and a handy ruler on the side of the jig helps you measure the pieces to be joined. A quick release lever gets the jig's length set to the standard material sizes. Different mounting techniques apply depending on the type of connection, so the fence on the jig's front swivels to accommodate framing corners or T-joints. This kit comes with many accessories including the special drill bit, a stop collar with Allen wrench, 2 T20 screwdriver bits, several Pocket hole plugs, a quick change drill bit holder and multiple screws of various sizes and thread coarseness. The T20 screws have specially shaped heads, similar to pan head screws and do require you to review a supplied chart to select the right one for the material you are joining. Be careful when buying additional screes (which you will quickly need). Other brands of pocket screws may have different head configurations other than T20 (e.g. Robertson, etc.). The pocket plugs are perfectly sized to be flush when the screw is properly set (see picture). The quick change drill bit holder was a bit of a disappointment in that the bits tended to wobble in the holder while in use. I used these in MDF, oak, poplar and framing lumber successfully. The instructions specify the use of fine thread screws into the harder woods and those are words of wisdom. I was skeptical of the performance in MDF, but this again proved my fears unfounded. The one accessory/tool this does not come with, and that you will likely want, is a face clamp. I used regular quick clamps but the face clamp worked much better and the magnet in the jig really did seem to aid in its use. We've used this on several projects now and it is so easy to use, yet so strong, I now use biscuit joinery only when I connect boards where no visible connectors can be allowed to be seen or when multiple boards are joined to make a very wide board.. All in all, I am really keen on this tool. I'd seen ads for these tools for years and now that I've used one, the only regret I have is that I didn't get one sooner. I highly recommend this tool.

(What's this)
Butt joints have always been a problem, for me. I usually end up using a 90 degree steel angle strong tie, biscuit joiner, or dowel peg joints. This Milescraft Pocket hole jig made a tough job easy. The easy to read istruction manual, detailed every step of the procedure. I used a 3/4" thick section of Pine board, to test out the jig. The jig has Imperial & Metric scales engraved onto the sides of the jig, which made all stages of the procedure quick & simple. Essentially, I adjusted the jig to the thickness of the wood using the engraved on scales as a guide. I snap locked that adjustment in place using the cam lever on the jig. Then, I rotated the fence at the end of the jig downward & turned the jig upside down. I laid their special drill bit on the jig, in the provided notch, making sure the step of the bit was lined up with the 3/4" mark. I slipped the stop collar onto the bit & slid it into place, on the back of the jig. I used the included allan wrench to secure the collar to the bit. Once that was done, I turned the jig over & hooked it onto the end of the Pine wood, where I wanted to drill the hole. I used a "C" clamp to hold the jig securely in place. The jig has a small magnet at the place where the clamp should be secured. The magnet quickly cented my clamp. This set includes a quick connect/disconnect adapter, that I installed into the chuck of my drill. The connector allowed me to quickly change from the drill bit to the driving bit, in a blink of the eye. It only took seconds to drill the hole. No guessing, the jig holds the bit solidly steady & stops at the exact right spot. I reversed the drill, backing out of the jig. I quickly replaced the drill bit with the driver bit using the included quick connector. I selected the 1 1/4" long included screw to secure one piece of wood to the other. This set includes 6 different lengths of screws, from 1" to 2 1/2". It also includes 3" & 6" driver bits & wood plugs that are cut to fit perfectly into & flush up against the surface of the wood face. I was surprised at the strong, tight grip just one screw made, securing the two pieces of wood together. This is a great product!

(What's this)
The Milescraft PocketJig200 Pocket Hole Jig kit includes the jig, a variety of screws, a special drill, two torx drivers, stop collar, hex wrench, a quick connector and wood plugs. Using the product takes a few steps but it is fairly easy and the kit has everything you need. My test used 1/2 inch boards. I set the jig to 1/2 inch, set the stop collar depth then connected the jig to the wood. The drill bit fit into the collar on the jig well. As you drill you have to use a forward and back motion to clear wood shavings from the bit. On first use, you will see some plastic shavings from the jig. I then removed the jig and switched to the torx driver to drive the screws into the two pieces of wood. I did find that the wood plugs did not fully seat into the holes and would require some shaving to make them flush. Overall the product worked very well. My only complaint is the quick connector. Mine seems to be bent. When installed in the drill and a drill bit or driver bit is installed, the bits wobble horribly making it unusable. Instead I put the bits directly in the drill with no issues. Hopefully this is a single product defect and not representative of every package sold.

(What's this)
This pocket jig kit comes with everything you will need to get started joining wood together for your project. It includes a great assortment of screw sizes to get started and 2 T20 driver bits. The kit also includes a quick connect to quickly change between the drill bit and the driver bit. I found the jig allowed for a precisely located hole. The design of the jig allows you to determine the correct depth of the hole based on the thickness of the wood to be joined. You can join common thicknesses of wood without the need for manual calculations. The hole was also neatly done with little or no tear out. The kit contains plugs shaped to the drilled hole so you can neatly fill the holes if you desire. I have attached photos on how to use this jig.
