Trim45 trim carpentry aid is the handiest tool in the toolbox when it comes to installing door and window casement trim, as well as decorative trim work projects such as fireplaces or bookshelves. Unique measuring and marking device eliminates fumbling with tape measures when determining the length of finish trim. Unique to the Trim45 is an adjustable reveal setting ranging from 1/8 in. to 1/2 in., in 1/8 in. increments, allowing it to be used on any project in any home or at any job site adding versatility and usability.

Helpful for a beginner

If you have never done this door casings before it definitely helps. Particular in marking the offset for the reveal. The other functions probably would be helpful if you were doing it entirely on your own. The instructions are kinda confusing for it. It would be nice if the locking mechanism for the reveal was more positive as basically you probably want to use it the same for all your doors and it is just a little to easy to reset it. Not perfect but I did find it helpful.

I had to use it a couple of times before...

I had to use it a couple of times before I got comfortable with it. It is precise and I get perfect measurements every time. My mitre cuts are perfect now. The magnets work great to keep the tape in place so one person can measure.

Nice jig for all intended purposes assuming door and windows are installed squarely which really is the case. However, its nice to be able to adjust to a 3/16 or a 1/4 reveal at the push of a button and not having to carry different home made jigs. The fact you can temp secure it place and take measurements with the included tape measure slots makes trim installation a one person job, especially on 6ft or larger windows. I will buy it again if I ever lose it.
