You can NOT use these with a hand-held drill! They are designed to be used with a drill press.

No good for large numbers of plugs. Most times the plugs jam in the tool, You have to manually clear the bit after each operation. If you need dozens o plugs this is a hard way to get them.

what are the diameters

1/4" ; 3/8"'; 1/2" Yes they'd work fine to cover deck screw heads.

I needed these quickly to finish a project. I was Using them to cut plugs from a hard wood (Bubinga), and no matter what the speed I tried, I couldn't keep from burning the sides of the plugs. That may be a characteristic of all plug cutters, but I don't think that's the case. I was able to use what I produced, but not without creating an acrid smell in the shop. There are other plug cutter designs that I'm going to try....

Purchased these bits to core drill oak cabinet frames. The bits made it about 1/8 of the way in before it filled out and would not drill any further.

Not so good
These bits burn into the wood rather than cut. Additionally, the 1/4" bit twisted after only a few uses. I cannot recommend this product.

Absolutely worthless. Burns the wood so bad you have to wait several minutes before prying the plug out of the bit to allow it to cool down. Even when it manages to not char the wood, the plugs come out horribly warped and crumbling. Tried with handheld drill and drill press with same results.
