how many square feet will this heat?
Asked by: Kandy
There is no direct relationship between square footage of floor space and how much heating capacity you need to install. When it is suggested there is, the formulas typically end up over sizing the product in the vast majority of cases which greatly decreased the inefficiency and longevity of the equipment. As I am sure you can envision the same structure if located in Alaska is going to need a lot more capacity than it would if located in Florida. The proper way to size heating is to do a heat loss calculation. There are many free programs on line that will do this for you. Basically you enter room sizes, window sizes, construction type, geographic location, etc. and the program will calculate how much heat the structure will lose on the coldest hour of the coldest day of the typical year. Selecting the capacity that is matched to the actual load you will get the longest and most efficient run times. Now your particular question is in reference to a furnace designed for a mobile home. As mobile homes typically come with the furnace installed you may want to check the rating plate on the existing furnace. Also every single wide mobile home I have ever dealt with has come with this Miller brand furnace either set up for gas or oil.

The specification sheet is actually on the Home Depot web site. Down low to the right is a tab that will open up it and the installation manual. For some reason it is hard to see. However it will show the unit to be 57"H x 24 1/4"D x 18"W

My old unit that im looking to replace has a switch to choose between a/c and heat. does this one have that also?
Asked by: Robert
As i am not sure what your old furnace is I want to be careful not to say anything that is confusing. This furnace can be used in conjunction with an AC coil. Meaning you can run the blower interdependently of the burner so that it can act as an air handler and move air over an AC coil.
