Is this water resistant? Can I use it in the kitchen and bath? Thank

Asked by: Sw
All hardwood floors are susceptible to damage from water. Kitchens and half-baths are approved, but we do not recommend or warrant this product for full-bathroom installations.

How do I get samples of flooring not in stock at store?

Asked by: Superchazz2002
In a normal context I don't think you will be able view them; however, if you are doing a large purchase and install (like a kitchen install) then your designer might order some samples (within reason) to help you view them more carefully. You might also call around, in a large city there are several stores and some carry inventory that others do not carry. Usually a store can check inventory of other stores in the area and tell you where the sample might be found locally.

I have this installed in my house and the seams are coming apart in places. There are definitely gaps. What is the warranty? How can I get it checked out by the company?
Asked by: AM
There are 2 types of gapping in hardwood floors; normal and abnormal. Most normal gaps are caused by season fluctuations in relative humidity. The floor expands with high humidity and contracts with periods of low humidity. This type of expansion and contraction is considered to be normal and expected with wood floors when exposed to seasonal variations. Seasonal gaps may be minimized or eliminated with proper use of the HVAC system to maintain temperature and humidity, including the use of humidifiers during the dry season and dehumidifiers during the humid season to maintain consistent wood moisture content. Abnormal gaps are gaps that remain with seasonal fluctuations. These can be due to inadequate HVAC controls, improper or inadequate nailing/fastening or adhesive application, subfloor deficiencies and other jobsite or installation related issues. Gapping would not be a warranted condition, as it is not related to a manufacturing defect. If your installer is not able or unwilling to identify the issue, you may wish to employ the services of a certified independent inspector to evaluate the jobsite and installation, and recommend corrective action.
