Does this item need padding?

Asked by Marie September 27, 2017

Answers

We used a very thin underlayment because we were putting it down over existing ceramic tile....used it in another room and laid it directly on the sub floor.......both are perfect.....love this floor

The display sample had yellowed. Does the polyurethane yellow on the standard flooring? It will get FL sun.

Asked by Nik March 24, 2017
1
Answer

Wood flooring changes color due to oxidation and exposure to UV light. Maple will yellow over time.

Does this flooring have to sit & acclimate before installation or can you install it right when you get it?

Asked by Paul May 17, 2016
1
Answer

According to the manufacturer it does not have to sit and acclimate.

Does the manufacturer use formaldehyde?

Asked by amy April 30, 2016
1
Answer

All Millstead Wood floors meet the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Phase II restrictions for formaldehyde emissions, which are the most stringent in the country.

Can the floor be coated with something to make it more scratch resistant?

Asked by Dee December 23, 2015
1
Answer

All Millstead Wood Floors are pre-finished with a UV-cured, aluminum oxide enhanced urethane topcoat, so no additional coating is needed or recommended. Pet nails may cause scratches or, more often, shallow indentations, so pet nails should be kept trimmed and it may be beneficial to use rugs or runners in their most heavily trafficked areas. The factory finish is warranted to not wear-through under normal residential conditions and with proper maintenance.

Glued down

Asked by Gusaford October 16, 2015
1
Answer

Yes, Millstead Click floors can be floated or glued-direct.

Will this interchange with American Landscapes Golden Maple.

no, not exactly. I had the same problem!! it is close in color, and the boards are the same size but they do not fit together in exactly the same way.

Varnish?

Asked by trish September 1, 2015
1
Answer

The floor is prefinished with a UV-cured, aluminum-oxide enhanced urethane topcoat, so additional finish is not necessary or recommended. Stairnose is available to special order.

What is the Country of manufacture of this product ?

Asked by Gary July 6, 2015

Answers

All Millstead Wood Floors are made in the USA.

Can this floor be installed over an electric subfloor heating film?

Asked by Milan March 3, 2015

Answer

No. The only species Millstead approves for use over radiant heat are Oak, American Cherry and Walnut.

No the one to write reviews but this one is needed. Love the look of the floor. It was gorgeous when installed. 6 months later we started noticing little flaws, cracks. A year later 50% of the boards was cracked. 2 years later we at about 75% and I just ordered new floor to replace this one. At $4sq/ft it is quite the disappointment. See photos below. Tried contacting the company but no response.

Great floor
This flooring worked out really well. It has a very good finish and is easy to install. I measured the area to be covered at 101 sq ft. So, based on the specification of 20 sq ft per box, I purchased 6 boxes. It turned out that each box contained 22 sq ft and I only needed 5 boxes. I returned the unopened box with no problems. If you use this product, you will need a good rubber mallet and taping block, along with a good pull bar (do NOT buy the flooring installation kit as I did. It is poorly designed and cheaply made. Ger the Roberts Pro pull bar and tapping block instead.)

Maple Flooring from a brunt out forest
Now I know most of these reviews are fake. Rejecting more than half of this floor, does not even resemble maple. Home Depot needs to pull this line from their offering of flooring. Take a look at what to expect when you open a carton.

Absolutely Beautiful Flooring
I bought 1000 sq.ft. online to cover the entire first floor of my home (890 sq.ft.). Two palettes containing 50 boxes arrived a couple of days later. I brought in all 50 boxes and let the wood acclimate for the recommended 3 days. After removing the existing carpeting and tack strips, I began installation, laying down the AirGuard Premium 3-in-1 underlayment first and following up with single rows of hardwood. I must say, it could not have gone much smoother. I installed all of the flooring on my own, including new the baseboards. Most of the wood was usable, but I would say that a good 2-to-3% of it had a black streak along either the left or right edge of a board, rendering it as scrap. You can see the streaks in one of the pictures I've attached. I'm not sure if this occurs during the machining process, or if I just got a bad batch, but it's something that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. Not that many boards were warped...even still, I was able to use most of those. The only other detriment about this flooring that I can think of is that some of the boards do creak...but only a very few. I'm not sure how the changing weather will affect this, but it's not enough to bother me, considering how the overall project turned out. I get all kinds of compliments on the floor. I absolutely love it. I am now considering doing the second floor of my home with this same product, but I will wait awhile to let my knees recover a little bit. :D

Great product
Flooring was easy to install--the first row in the most difficult. Color was just as it appeared on the website. Good product.

Great floors that look just like the online pictures
Great product. Was afraid the floors would be different than online pictures but they were exactly as promised. Installation was easy and they ar beautiful. It was a little costly but once we seen the finished product we thought it was well worth it.

Easy, beautiful, but....
Product installs easily, looks amazing right after installation. Soft as butter...gauged already after light use, and I just installed it. Don't believe the hardness rating. Do not buy! You will regret it. Spend a little more money for better quality. I'm returning it.

Response from THD Customer ServiceMar 3, 2014
Dear Customer, We reached out to the manufacturer for more information on your review. Please find below their response. " Wood floors are made of a natural material and are not immune to denting or scratching. Nothing is done during the manufacturing process to make the Maple harder or softer than its natural state. The industry hardness rating on wood floors provides a comparison between the different wood species, and Maple is one of the harder domestic wood species. All wood floors, however, can be accidentally damaged, which is why we recommend the use of protective pads under furniture, keeping pets nails trimmed as closely as possible, and putting a solid protective layer down when moving heavy objects across any hardwood floor. Clean the floor regularly, and remember the amount of debris and grit tracked onto any type of flooring can be minimized by using protective rugs at the entryways. Another point to consider In selecting a hardwood floor is that a specie with a more active visible grain pattern (such as Oak, Hickory) will blend the imperfections that occur over time better that one with a more subtle grain pattern such as Maple."

Great floor
Homedepot (Alpena Mich) was great. They installed and did a great job of coordinating everything.t Use furniture pads to protect from scratches. Very high end look.

Beautiful Floor!
My husband installed our floor in a hallway, through to the kitchen and to our entry / laundry room. It looks amazing! He bought a few new power tools for the project but found it to be an easy install. A rubber mallet is a must have. He received many compliments on it. We are anxious to see how it will wear.

Awesome flooring
We bought this to cover 300 sq ft in a combo living/dining room. We used 13 boxes (with almost the whole box left over in the last box). We had a lot of diagonal cuts at the end, which used up more boards. My husband installed it and said it was "beautiful" as far as installation goes. It was tight-fitting, but this is what you want, he said. He did use his tapping block the whole time to fit the pieces in. I think there are 16 boards per case (14 or 16?). There are 22.5 sq ft per case, which is different than what Home Depot advertises in the description (they say 20? sq ft). We did this floor in about 2 full days of working. If we didn't have all the cuts at the diagonal, we would've done it faster. The boards of this maple flooring are definitely not consistent in color. Some boards are lighter with a different pattern, some are darker and quite rustic-looking. If you want a consistent, uniform floor that looks like the same color and pattern in each board, DO NOT BUY THIS FLOORING! We, however, did not want the consistent look throughout. We like the variation. It gives the room character. I'm attaching a pic of our room. We installed some Dupont walnut laminate in our old home (also sold by HD), and I like this maple flooring so much better. It looks so much more authentic (although we liked the walnut a lot, too).
