          Answer This Question

My guess would be they would work as long as the soft copper tubing has the same OD as rigid copper pipe since the cutter works based on those standard diameters and the tool locking on the pipe so the spring can force the cutting wheel to stay in contact with the copper as you turn it. The adjustable type would be a sure thing since you can vary the cutting wheel to achieve more diameters by adjusting the wheel with the knob. Plus you would only need one tool for most applications and the close quarters is typically not needed in those situations. Otherwise I am very happy with my set and use them quite regularly, but I am using them with standard plumbing copper pipe.

China if I’m not mistaken. I do my best to buy American made but the quality and durability of these cutters have far outlasted the competition.

There is a black arrow on the cutters, push the cutters on the copper until the cutting wheel clicks in place then spin the cutters in the direction of the arrow.

                By|Mar 12, 2019

There is an arrow on the side showing you the correct direction depending on the way you place it on the pipe. Looking at the picture above you would rotate them clockwise.

I don't have them in front of me but if you look at the picture there is a black arrow that shows the direction of the cut on each tubing cutter.

It is self tightening just follow the arrow

I know that some Milwaukee products are still made in the USA? Are these included on that list, or are they chinese? This is a serious question, not a political rant.

I have the same problem as the other one star reviews. I've only used the 1/2" tubing cutter a handful of times and it just stopped cutting. The tension completely gave out so I just lightly scores the pipe but doesn't cut it. I'm disappointed especially for a Milwaukee product! Update 11/4/25: The Milwaukee team reached out to me to fix the issue I was having with the cutter and I think that alone deserves five stars! Thank you Milwaukee team!

                                Great for tight spaces
I have purchased a few of these. As a plumber I use it daily and the durability is amazing compared to other branded. The precision is perfect and side allows you to get into tight spaces. You can change out the blade once it dulls however the spring usually goes around the same time. Fortunately, it is inexpensive enough to repurchase. It takes many cuts before the blade gets dull. Spray with wd40 every so often to keep the rotations smooth. Would highly recommend over other brands.

Cuts too aggressively for most copper tubing
The kit looks and feels great in use but the spring tension on the 3/4 cutter is too stiff and crushes the copper tubing and cuts in a single turn. Unfortunately, it makes a mess of the end of the tubing. There needs to be a way of dialing down the cutting force and get these tools working correctly. The 1/2" works better but still deforms the tubing but it is still usable. The case is great, and I really want to get these working. Milwaukee engineers can you help?

Cutter is 6 months old. Used only a dozen times. Got wet cutting a water line 1 time and rollers rusted up and seized. The chrome finish flakes off the first time you use it. This tool isn’t worth the hefty price tag

I bought this 3/4” copper pipe cutter because I couldn’t use my adjustable pipe cutter to cut a pipe really close to the stud and Sheetrock. It’s easy to use and convenient for this type of work when there’s no much room or space to handle the tools. It’s accurate and cuts really fast if use as directed (doing the rotation in the correct way). I noticed after cuts the pipes ended with a small bend where the wheel cuts started to cut or finish. There is no problem with that when try to assemble the sides but if not soldered right may tent to leak (is my opinion not saying that will).

What a great set to have. You get the sizes you need but the close quarters is the best part.to me .These cutters can get into tight and small areas and make a nice clean cut with little effort. I needed to get in a shower where the cutter was actually touching on the back wall and still cut it. I couldn't get my regular tubing cutter even close and a hacksaw couldn't fit. This is my go to tubing cutter now.

Milwaukee Tube Cutters Are The Best!
Got this Milwaukee Tube Cutter Kit to do some much needed repairs & some re-plumbing around the house & property. First thing noticed is the quality of Milwaukee Tools & the custom hard case it comes in. Makes it easy to store & have them all together not loose in a tool box where I have to dig & look for them. Now as for performance they really do cut very well. Smooth & easy to maneuver & use. I only used the 3/4 & 1/2 inch cutters but both worked flawlessly. Also a nice feature is the replaceable cutters. Was glad for the acquirement of these tools.

Great for hard to reach copper pipe
I am restoring an old house, where someone stole the easy to reach copper pipe. The remaining copper is against something, or in the walls, where an adjustable tube cutter is hard to get in, or adjust. These work great. You still need about 3/4" clearance, but just slip it on, and turn in the direction of the arrow (clockwise). Nothing to tighten. The wheel tightens itself. On the downside ... the fact it tightens itself, makes it sometimes bind into the copper faster than I would like, making it harder to turn, in a spot I may be just using my finger tips to reach. I would rather make more rotations. Also, would be nice if the wheel dug in deeper, then I could use in on PEX too! The fact they are not adjustable, you have to buy one in each pipe size, but if you need more than one size, you are better off getting the set. For a little more than the price of two, you get a third and the case, with a spot for replacement blades.
