Questions & Answers

what is the diferrence between this screwdrive and the Milwaukee 10-in-1 Square Drive Ratcheting Multi Bit Driver Model # 48-22-2302 ?

did the comparison and can find no difference. what does the"ECX" mean ?
Asked by: bigojac
ECX version (-2301) has Milwaukee's ECX bits, which are specifically made for electrician / electrical installation screws (particularly Square D panel covers), which have two combo slotted (aka flathead) / square recess / phillips head screw bits (instead of two of the square drive bits included in the -2302). See https://www.milwaukeetool.com/accessories/fastening/48-32-4441 for a pic.

10-in-1 ECX Ratcheting Multi-Bit Screwdriver Set is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to screwdriver Very happy with this purchase, its become my go to screwdriver for my DIY projects. This tool is very versatile and the extra bits are conveniently stored in a revolver style housing on the handle. The ratcheting mechanism is smooth and makes quick work of most projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tool The Milwaukee 10 in 1 ECX Ratcheting Multi Bit Screwdriver Set is a great tool that can be used for various purposes. This tool appears to be well made using high quality materials suitable for heavy duty work. It also comes with a lifetime warranty! Screwdriver: The primary use is as a screwdriver with 7 different bits. The bits are 3.5" long so they might not be suitable for tight spaces where you need shorter bits. The bits are chrome plated and can be used with power tools. Unforunately the revolver style bit storage can only accomodate 6 bits, which means one would have to remain attached to the head. The bits are held in place using strong magnetic retention. The screwdriver has a ratcheting mechanism which is very convenient and allows for much faster work. If you're not familiar with ratcheting, say you are tightening a bolt (clockwise), then once you rotate in the other direction (counter-clockwise) you only hear a clicking noise and it does not untighten the bolt. This allows you to keep tightening uninterrupted by rotating clockwise, counter-clockwise, clockwise, counter-clockwise, etc... You can easily switch from non-ratcheting to ratcheting in either direction. Wire Stripper: The tool also has a wire stripper that is supposed to strip wires up to 10ga in size. I tested the stripper by doing a 12ga wire and it was not the easiest or smoothest process. While this can help you srtip wires I don't believe it is very convenient and you will still need your regular stripper. I think I can strip wires using my teeth quicker (though not safer!) Wire Loop Maker: The tool also allows you to loop stripped wires. I tested this and I think it works well. Nothing fancy but a nice to have. 10-in-1: I counted 9 functions (7 bits, stripper, loop maker), so I'm not really sure how this tool is 10-in-1. I'm pretty sure I did not miss a key functionality, so it could be that Milwaukee have counted the ratcheting action or magnet as an extra function. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. There are cheaper options out there but this one is definitely built to last.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Design Flaw This is a great idea but there is a key design flaw. This thing frustrated me to the point that I decided to warn others before they purchased it. The problem is that the ratcheting mechanism will not stay in the locked position. When you begin to turn and ratchet back, it works for a few turns but then the mechanism slips back into the center position making it nothing more than a screwdriver. It will not stay in the locked position.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Excellent Hand Tool! This screwdriver is the perfect weight and size for working on my bike. It has everything there so you don't have to look for the right bit. Plus it ratchets! How awesome is that?!
Date published: 2013-08-02
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ratchet Switches itself I've had the same problem as the otherguys, I've learned to deal with it. The Mechanism only switches it self when you're really pushing hard and turn backwards, so I've just been laying off when ratcheting and then pushing back down when driving. It's slows me down sometimes but only when I'm really baring down. Even with that issue this is still my go to screwdriver. It pretty much lives in my back pocket. On a positive note, I used the wire bending function the other day... never thought I actually would but I did and it worked great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy tool The ratcheting screwdriver is very nice tool to have around. It’s very quick to change out the different screwdriver heads and has a nice grip. The ratcheting feature make short work jobs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from fatal design flaw The mechanism controlling ratcheting direction is a horizontal switch between handle and shaft. Unfortunately, turning the screwdriver during ordinary use also triggers the switch, making it almost impossible to use this tool. I am very disappointed, as it had a lot of potential.
