This level had all of the fluid leak out on top of my Dewalt battery and ruined it. So as you can guess it, I was at a job site to find out my battery no longer worked. When I got home I examined my bag to find the level was the culprit. I absolutely do not toss my tool bag for no reason due to me having my glasses inside. I did not expect this from Milwaukee brand tools at all.

The plumb vial is not secure. A two foot drop and now the vial is off and can be moved a few degrees back and forth. What were they thinking putting a round vial in a round hole. Even the cheapest levels avoid that rookie mistake. So what if it’s milled from a billet of solid aluminum if the vials aren’t reliable. I bought it to set things plumb and level not use as a weapon.

          A great pocket level
At 10 inches, the Milwaukee torpedo level may not be exactly a pocket level but it is an awesome level to keep close by. The lite weight aluminum frame has 2 fixed vials for opposing vertical, horizontal level reading and an adjustable vial with a 360 degree dial to set, record pitch or angle. The dial has a lock down feature to prevent loosing the setting. Another plus with the Milwaukee level is the super strong magnets in the base. I actually found that the magnet held onto a galvanized fence nail. However it has other uses such as using the level to hold my flashlight using the super strong magnets and the tether hole built into the level. Sometimes the magnet works where you don't want it to such as picking up the loose screws in my tool bag, but I'll take that trade-off. The level is perfect

          Very Impressive
I do a fair amount of construction work and over the years I've amassed a number of good quality levels in various sizes. What I was lacking was a high quality torpedo level. I saw this on HD's site and was immediately taken aback by the high price. Could this level really be worth what they were asking? Given the opportunity to try it out I felt I had nothing to lose so I ordered one. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised. This is one serious torpedo level. The die cast aluminum frame is substantial, it feels rock solid in the hand. The two rare earth magnets are much stronger than any of my other levels. The large hole on one end offers a convenient way to hang it from a tool belt or a wall peg. The three vials, horizontal, vertical and 360 degree variable are magnified, easy to read and well protected behind thick plastic shields. One half of the locking variable dial is marked in two degree increments, from 0 to 90 then back again. The other half is marked with frequently used settings. 15, 22-1/2, 45 and 75 degrees. To say that I'm impressed is an understatement. I can't imagine any way to improve on the functionality of this little guy. This goes in my main toolbox and my other torpedos are relegated to the shelf or maybe a yard sale. Angles Made Easier
I have always had a little bit of an issue with random angles, and I don't care to do the math! This is a nice tool to add to the arsenal. This takes the thinking out of the angles and make the process much easier. You can set the level on your workspace and find the angle my turning the bubble, or set the bubble to the angle you want and level out your workspace. There is a lock on the rotating bubble to lock it into place or you can leave it loose so it spins. I have many levels but none that have this feature. I am really pleased with this. The bubble area is very open and they are very easy to read even in lower light conditions. There are two magnets on the underside to hold this in place when working with magnetic materials. This level is also make from aluminium, not plastic, and has a little weight to it.

Level Measures or Sets Any Angle
The Milwaukee 10 in. 360 Degree Locking Die-cast Torpedo Level is a breakthrough tool. It not only has the typical level and plumb vials but the third vial can be set and locked to any angle. This feature is incredibly useful if you are trying to find a slope or angle of an existing structure, or if you want to set a new structure to a particular angle. The angle dial is easy to adjust and lock tightly. The dial has increments in units of two degrees clearly marked as well as 75, 45, 22.5 and 15 degrees. Being able to set a particular angle has helped me when installing drain pipes and patio pavers. See the accompanying photo which shows a post to be out of perfect plumb and the variable vial which shows how much out of plumb it actually is. The magnified vials make the level easy to read even at some distance. Earth magnets allow the level to lock on tightly to any steel surface. A center groove allows it to attach firmly to round objects of steel. The top has a large opening for hanging it up. The 10" length makes it easy to use. The level is solid metal and comes with a limited lifetime guarantee. If you are looking for a gift for a DIYer, this is one tool that he or she likely does not have but will appreciate and think of you when using it for many years to come.

          The Cadillac of Torpedo Levels
This is a solid, accurate, easy-to-use tool built with customary Milwaukee quality – and it looks beautiful to boot. The vials are easy to read and the bubble is perfectly sized. The embedded magnets are advertised as “amplified rare-earth” with twice the holding power of other magnets on other tools – and they aren't kidding. I could barely pull the tool off a cast iron table, and had to tilt the tool to release the iron-grip. It's probably more power than needed – but the tool will certainly not slip off a surface at any angle! The level comes with a helpful extra feature – one of three vials can be adjusted 360 degrees to measure or set any angle. It's a clever idea and will be very handy on occasion. The vial adjusts easily and locks firmly in any position, so measurements will be repeatable and reliable. The scale is adequate, but it's small size makes it hard to read or set angles more precisely than about 1 deg – but anyone needing more precision shouldn't be relying on a 10” torpedo level! Note that the fixed vials are accurate to 0.0005 in per in according to the specifications so there's no issue with precision for plumb and level. Two improvements I could suggest would be a second arrow on the fixed frame for angles 180 deg from the primary arrow, and a scale on the reverse for measuring slope/pitch rather than degrees. Those would be, at best, minor improvements to a great tool. The tool is not cheap, and you pay almost twice the price for the adjustable vial feature, but you get what you pay for – power, accuracy, flexibility, and top-notch quality.
