Questions & Answers

What type of bits will work with this? Can I use torx?

Asked by: Chris
Chris, I've used torx bits and even used a hex drill bit to drill a pilot hole inside the corner of a cabinet where the normal use of a drill and bit would not work. The extra length worked providing me a direct straight drilled hole.

I have bits stuck in my extensions, how did get them out?

Asked by: Guss
I had to use pliers on mine. Going to throw this extension away.

Which adapter do I need to fit a round shank into this?

I have a wire brush drill attachment with a 1/4 inch ROUND shank. Is there an adapter for this that will fit the round end securely and "plug in" to the 1/4 inch hex end of this? Also, since the OTHER end of this is also hex shaped, do I need an adapter to attach it to a regular old drill, born in the age when most drill bits were round? Thanks!
Asked by: MsDIYwannabe
Thanks for the quick answer, but I couldn't find the part here at HD (even adding the part no.) and the part I saw on the Milwaukee site is confusing to me. I expected to see a part that might attach to the magnetic hex socket end of this piece, with the other end accepting the round drill bit. Admittedly I'm new at this, but the part on the Milwaukee site looks like a new chuck. No clue how that would work. I'm wondering if someone can explain this? Thanks!

I am planning to use 3 of these extensions in series to screw in a hex head screw at the far end of a pocket door hole. Will this 36 inch extension be sturdy enough for the job?
Asked by: HybridTea
I used 2, and found the hardest part was putting the phillips bit into the screw 2 feet away. Once in, a little pressure kept it working fine. I'd guess the same with a hexhead socket 3' away
