The Milwaukee demolition hammer works great for demoing hard materials such as concrete, rock, and hard soil. We used this to excavate holes so we could pour foundations for our new porch. Our desert soil has a layer called caliche which can be hard as concrete and rock. the only way to break through this is to use a jackhammer or demo hammer. this demo hammer cut right through the caliche with ease, and is much easier to operate than a full size jack hammer. You can use several different bits depending on your work. We used the chisel point that worked just fine. Great demo hammer, lots of power.

I bought this demo hammer (DH) for home improvement projects. I wasn’t going to be breaking up slabs so I wanted a lighter weight DH, one I could use horizontally when needed. This DH is more robust than I was expecting, has a strong well built, sturdy feel. My first project was excavating dirt. I used a clay spade bit.The DH perfumed flawlessly. I have many Milwaukee tools b/c they are well built and last.

It has a lot of power and I was very impressed by this demolition hammer I think for the price it’s great I was going to get the 8.1 impact force for 700$ and got this instead for 20 impact force and no regrets for a small price difference has much more power

It's very simple to handle and I'm glad I didn't get the larger one. I'm demolishing a section of basement and patio floor. It easily breaks through the 6" of concrete with a little work. I can only go a couple of hours before I'm physically done. The vibration control is very good. Be sure to have more than one bit because you will get the bit stuck and then the only way to get it out is with another bit. The carrying case is stout like all their cases. The speed control is handy and the D-ring handle is worth it's weight in gold when trying to angle the bit. It has a five year warranty which by itself is worth a chunk of change. For 35 lbs it handles pretty easily and busts pretty good, I have no complaints. I found I did better using the flat chisel bit over the bull pointed bit. After two hours of jack hammering the motor is warm but not hot. Some people think the hammer is pricey but after what I've been through and I still have a lot left to go I really need this hammer to work and I'm confident that'll happen, especially with a five year warranty.

Wish I had this back on the chain-gang! Effortlessly shatters concrete, schist and other rock.......
Wish I had this back on the chain-gang! Effortlessly shatters concrete, schist and other rock.... Heavy (28 pounds), as it needs to be. More powerful than its electric rating suggests. VERY smooth in operation! Beats-up the rock, not the operator. I've busted a lot of hard stuff. Hand-banged chisels and star drill, air-hammers, hammer drill, handy-size power hammers. But now I need to bust a LOT of rock so my ditch flows better; also have half a garage slab to dispose of. Far too much for lightweight tools, yet not enough to justify a road-crew size jack-hammer (and engine and someone to handle it). I loaded the SDS-Max chuck with a Bull Point chisel (chuck grease is included). Slips in, latches, slips out when unlatched, no force or fuss. I set it on rock, pull trigger. The motor runs idle. Press the spring-floating handle, the hammer-action engages and rock starts chipping. No force, no leaning on the hammer-- just push it some. More push won't make it work harder, just abuses the hammer and the operator. The floating handle absorbs almost all the shock in the hammer body mass, this AVS™ is amazing. In a few seconds the local schist was splitting and progress was fast. Move to another spot- very easy because the hammering stops while you move the point over, then re-starts when you press on the handle again. There is a 1-10 dial for slow precise work or hard banging. There is a D-handle toward the nose for horizontal hammering, and a stick-handle which can be used three ways for more control in various positions. 14 Amp rated demand is fairly thrifty for a tool this powerful. With a heavy extension cord you can get away from outlets. It will probably run OK on a 4KW gen-set for remote work. Very rugged carrying case included. Keeps the tool clean or keeps your rock-dust out of your truck. Do note: this model 5339-21 is hammer-only. A similar drill/hammer (chuck will power-rotate) is also offered under another part number.
