This is an excellent bolt cutter with a capacity of one half inch. I tested it on rebar and it was easily up to the task, although for that I extended the handles to their maximum extent. For smaller diameter cuts I was able to use the cutter without extending the handles. With the handles retracted this tool was just small enough to fit in my large tool box.
The cutter is manufactured to the high standard of quality that I have come to expect from my other Milwaukee tools. It should last a lifetime.

The handles on this bolt cutter extend from 18" to 24" which will give you substantially more cutting power, something greatly appreciated now that I'm older and no longer as strong as I used to be. The easiest way to extend the handles is to hold it with the cutting blades down and turn the gripper - the weight of the head will drop the handles to their full extension.
The mouth of the cutter will open to a maximum of 3/4" to accept cutting material up to 1/2" in diameter. I tried it on several kinds of metal and with no problem I was able to cut a car key, chain link, the shank of a Master Lock, a link from a tow chain and 1/4" rebar. I needed to use the extended arms to cut all but the chain link & car key (keep in mind I'm a 60 year old woman - a stronger person wouldn't need the extension).
At the end of each handle is a reinforced hole so you can hang them up.
The cuts are clean and smooth.

This review is for Milwaukee Tool 48-22-4124, 24-inch Adaptable Bolt Cutter. It is rated for cutting soft/medium materials (up to 31 HRC) to 7/16" and hard materials (up to 48 HRC) to 5/16". It has heat-treated forged steel blades with tether-ready, comfort-grip handles that will not peel or slide off of the handles. For extra cutting power, the tool handles extend to optional overall tool lengths of about 29 inches and 32 long. It weighs approximately 8 pounds. The tool has a limited lifetime warranty. I made use of it with the handles fully extended for cutting 8 mm. (0.315 in.) diameter steel slab reinforcement mesh for a driveway pour, it working well and being comfortable to use. I like its overall length for doing that work, it requiring less stooping for this kind of work than my old shorter cutter. This is a welcome addition to my large tool collection.

I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival Milwaukee's 24" adaptable bolt cutter to finish up my home project. And like my previous Milwaukee tools I have not been disappointed. To date I have not encountered a piece of metal this tool cannot cut through. The arms of the cutter can be extended out to provide 30% more cutting power. The grips are well padded and provide excellent protection to the palm of your hands. Both handle ends have a small hole through them to allow you to hang the cutter up on your tool wall for easy storage. See attached photographs. Well done Milwaukee!

The Milwaukee 24 in. Adaptable Bolt Cutter with Powermove is a heafty and strong cutter tool that is solid and doesn't shy away from the big cuts. The adjustable handle shafts extend leverage from the main pivot between 20" to 26" and with a little effort, had the strength and ability to cut my 1\2" rebar steel rods.
Storage of this unit is manageable with the handles collapsed and the grips have large rubber covers that make cuts easier and more comfortable on the hands. The bolt cutter is Well built, has easy knurled knob adjustment sleeves, comfort grip handles and should last a lifetime!

This is a cool set of bolt cutters. The extending handles are nice to give you some extra torque while keeping them compact for storage. They are built with the typical high quality you expect from Milwaukee. The handles have multiple locking positions and easily adjust. This is a good size for the jobs I need form for like cutting 1/8 steel cable for rigging. You can’t go wrong with these. Another quality product from Milwaukee. Love the design on these.

Fantastic 14 inch adaptable bolt cutter with power move! This bolt cutter has more power and maximum versatility, it has power move extendable arms, which gives you 30 percent more cutting power. Maximum cutting capacity is 5/16 inch and the maximum hardness is 48HRC. I used these for cutting round cold rolled steel rods for crafts, this tool made it easy and faster than cutting with a hacksaw. The handles has a comfortable easy grip, hands do not slide off. Holes in the handle to attach tethers.

Powerful bolt cutters with great leverage. Cut through just about anything that fits.
You can extend the cutters about about 30% more about the already 24" inches. The extension makes the cutters easier to store and carry. The part that twists stays with the handle.
The extension feature is stable when in compression. I don't feel any slop. However the handles do rotate a little. It isn't a problem but does fee a little funny.

These bolt cutters will handle items up to 5/16" in diameter. The handles are comfortable for either women's or men's hands. If needed, the handles can be extended, with a simple twist, an additional 1.75" for added power. I used these cutters on wires, rods, bolts, nails, and screws made of steel, iron, brass, and aluminum and had no problem cutting through any of them. There is a hole at the end of the handles for hanging the cutters.
