Nice Pair
These were on Clearance, at my local Home Depot. So, I grabbed a couple. I tend to misplace them, when I need them. Billed as the "Industries most durable tape measure", I can believe it. If I drop it, it bounces. This will be my 'go to' for projects I am worried a tape measure might break (e.g on a roof or above cement). It is too big for a glove box or most pockets.

      Too wide
Caveat: I am not a contractor. That being said, for regular use, I find myself reaching for the MUCH thinner and less bulky Stanley high visibility tape. These super beefy tape measures are just hard to hold, hit everything due to their width when you’ve clipped it to your belt, and I find myself frequently having to engage the locking button with two hands instead of one. I just do not personally need this level of bulk and would have chosen something different if I had seen it in person. The Milwaukee is WAY better than that truly awful Fat Max tape though (less weight, smoother extension and retraction, better readability).

Normally I am a large fan of Milwaukee products. But I think this one is kind of swing and a miss. I, like most contractors, have about 6 billion tape measures. I got these because I couldn't find the tape that was supposed to be in my truck(of course it turned up later, they always do) They're bigger than any of the previous incarnations. The case seems pretty sturdy. But when I pulled it out to see how far it would extend, it came out farther than it should have and now it doesn't retract all the way. My cheap Stanley did that when it got caught on something, but non of my other Milwaukees do that. That lack of a stop, and the lack of a magnet option, make me say, "meh" to this one. The regular old Milwaukee magnetic 25 is the one I will stick with.

This tape measure is heavy and feels nice and solid. The numbers are large making it easier to read either farther away, at an odd angle or for older eyes. The lock function feels tight and secure. The rubber edges keeps it from sliding around.

"Stud is not the first word I think of when using this in the construction field. More like "after 60 I need some "T" shots". I wish there were numbers on the back for doing overhead work on ceilings. Readability is good!.

I was looking to replace my aging Milwaukee 25 foot premium tape. Considering the Milwaukee Stud is a bit more "robust" than the other Milwaukee models - I thought the Milwaukee Stud would be a good upgrade. Although the Stud is more robust and does have a good "tape" material, I felt the Stud was lacking without magnetic tip, the wide foot tape catch and the additional measurement scale on the backside of the tape. I was able to extend the tape to 116" unsupported. Otherwise, the Stud is an excellent tape measure. It does have some enhancements, a better, slicker tape surface. Better, bolder numbers and seems to have a richer yellow background and still has finger stop design underneath. The belt clip is somewhat improved; secured to the tape case in a slimmer design so it doesn't catch on a belt or pocket. I also find that the lanyard eye is a bit easier to route tool lanyard through. The case of the tape is slightly fatter but has a good comfort and feel. The Stud is slightly longer 3-3/4" from nose to heel compared to my older Premium; it is 3-1/2". Just another mental adjustment I have to remember to make each time I use the Stud. It is a very good tape overall!
