Yes. I thought the three binders would lock into the groves on the grinders collar but they don't. I pushed shroud binders up as far as they would go and tighten, I had no problems while grinding. I use a 4" grinding wheel.
It is mostly plastic, but it's pretty impact resistant so that really hasn't been a concern.
Home Depot carries a 7 inch dust shroud but it is made by Dustless Technologies in 7 in. Polycarbonate Pro Dust Shroud in Black, Model # D1807 at $59.97. They work as good as the Milwaukee make and is very similar. The 7 inch model is very similar in design to the Milwaukee 4 - 5 inch model. Both have the removable window for edge grinding
This product is made for surface grinding with the appropriate cement grinding wheels and other wheels that can be used on a horizontal surface. Cutting can be performed if the removable piece is removed thus exposing a cutting edge for up close grinding or cutting. There is no other cover to this item. Its best use of for flat surface grinding with a vacuum attachment
Use an shop vacuum hose adapter sold at home depot (2-1/2 in. to 1-7/8 in. adapter connects 1-7/8 in. to a 2-1/2 in. hose. The small end of the hose adapter fits onto the port on the shroud. You place some masking tape on the tip of the shroud for a good friction fit. Always use a vacuum bag inside your shop vacuum while grinding concrete.
