Will this or any shroud fit the Makita 9514B 4" grinder?

If it does, buy it, works great. Used it to grind a high spot on a concrete floor and to scuff the rest of the floor for tiling, in a finished home. No dust at all escaped.

It should fit.

Does this work with the Milwaukee Model 6130-33 ? If it does do I need to use a 5 inch grinding wheel ?

Asked by Cr June 11, 2017

Answers

Yes. I thought the three binders would lock into the groves on the grinders collar but they don't. I pushed shroud binders up as far as they would go and tighten, I had no problems while grinding. I use a 4" grinding wheel.

Is it metal or plastic?

Asked by Joe May 6, 2017

Answers

It is mostly plastic, but it's pretty impact resistant so that really hasn't been a concern.

Do you have the 7" size?

Asked by none April 9, 2017

Answer

Home Depot carries a 7 inch dust shroud but it is made by Dustless Technologies in 7 in. Polycarbonate Pro Dust Shroud in Black, Model # D1807 at $59.97. They work as good as the Milwaukee make and is very similar. The 7 inch model is very similar in design to the Milwaukee 4 - 5 inch model. Both have the removable window for edge grinding

Does this come with a cover plate so that it can be used for surface grinding AND for cutting both?

Asked by Mike March 17, 2017
1
Answer

This product is made for surface grinding with the appropriate cement grinding wheels and other wheels that can be used on a horizontal surface. Cutting can be performed if the removable piece is removed thus exposing a cutting edge for up close grinding or cutting. There is no other cover to this item. Its best use of for flat surface grinding with a vacuum attachment

What size shop vac hose

Asked by JNel January 28, 2017

Answer

Use an shop vacuum hose adapter sold at home depot (2-1/2 in. to 1-7/8 in. adapter connects 1-7/8 in. to a 2-1/2 in. hose. The small end of the hose adapter fits onto the port on the shroud. You place some masking tape on the tip of the shroud for a good friction fit. Always use a vacuum bag inside your shop vacuum while grinding concrete. The filter will get clogged rapidly if you are grinding a large amount of concrete this is the adapter part from home depot:http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/1000/4c/4cfa8c71-9573-4bcd-b384-335f54d6ef7d_1000.jpg

This worked great on my grinder. I have a Milwaukee 4" hand grinder. When I removed the shroud, it did not have a groove as mentioned in the instructions but was able to tighten down the band clamp enough that there was no movement.

A bit fiddley to attach, and some instructions lacking
I successfully attached this to my new Ryobi cordless. It was a bit awkward since the tightening screw it inconveniently placed. I had to loosen it and wiggle things around before retightening to get everything properly centered. But once attached, it is working well. What I am annoyed by is that the instructions and sales material do not discuss connection options to shop vacs. I have had to duct-tape the hose for my shop vac while waiting on a hose that I hope is properly sized. Also, the instructions don't discuss the connector that seems to be for attaching a hose of some sort. Having said that, I am impressed by how well the dust is captured by the shroud and am pleased with this purchase.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME
Despite claims made by Milwaukee and some ***** reviewers ("universal", "easy to install") this thing is anything but and a waste of time and money. And that was on two Milwaukee grinders, series #6117 & #2780, BOTH OF WHICH ARE LISTED IN THE Q&A SECTION AS BEING COMPATIBLE. If I could rate it zero stars, or even go into the negative column I'd do so. It is not easy to install...rather, it's near impossible, if not outright impossible to install. I removed the spindle hub so as not to have to compete with the spring tension on it...no good. Was still unable to get the thing to grab onto the grinder. So much for universal and ease of installation...sheer, unmitigated nonsense/hype. I see some other major manufacturers putting out videos on installing their brands of dust shrouds but here, Milwaukee falls short...might have solved the problem. This thing is going right back to HD where it came from. Instead, I'm going to look into the off brands, which also happen to be cheaper. Too bad, Milwaukee...you lost a sale on this lemon.

I don’t know why people give it low stars. The instructions are clear. I used it with Milwaukee’s cordless m-18 fuel grinder (gen1) and it worked perfectly.

Worth the money and then some
This dust shroud is worth the money. No dust anywhere but in the shop vac. You don't even need to plastic off the area if you working indoors. It's that good. Hook it up to your shop vac with a dust collection bag inside and your golden.

Works best with 5-in grinding wheel. Good, not great, dust collection, but MUCH better than nothing at all. Great value. Using it on a Harbor Freight grinder. Dust does build up in bristles. Need to vacuum them occasionally.
