The nicest headband light I’ve owned to date.
BACKGROUND: I have several headband lights, some cheap, some from big-name companies; but the Milwaukee 2012R is the nicest by far. FIT AND FINISH: The quality of materials is comparable to my other Milwaukee tools and gear and is totally acceptable for a light in this price point. The head is very compact but easy to operate and the quick-detach magnetic mount capability is very handy. FEATURES: For a small light there is a lot to say. • 450 Lumens of TRUEVIEW High-Definition Output o (From an online source) Milwaukee says that their TRUEVIEW LED products have a CRI of 85 (the maximum CIR is 100.) That is not what would be considered a “very high CRI,” but it is in the top 15 percent. Milwaukee’s TRUEVIEW LED lighting products have a color temperature of 4000K, which is not quite what would be considered daylight (~5600K). 4000K is between warm and cool ends of the white light spectrum and is quite pleasing. • Spot, Flood and Hybrid Beam Options for the Ideal Intensity and Coverage o Two LED lights with the ability to switch either or both on at the same time. • 5 Light Output Modes: o Hybrid Spot/Flood mode: 450-Lumens- 2.5 hours o Spot High: 250-Lumens- 4 hours o Spot Low: 50-Lumens- 8 hours o Flood High mode: 250-Lumens- 4 hours o Low: 50-Lumens- 14 hours • Magnetic light head detaches from the strap holster o Pop the light off for hand-held or magnetic mounting (see photos) • Can magnetically mount the light head in 3 positions (see photos) • Rechargeable via supplied 2-foot Micro-USB cable o I’m converting all my mobile lighting to rechargeable; it beats grabbing a light that has dead (and leaking) batteries. • Monitor runtime with an on-board battery indicator (Green, Yellow, Red) • IP54 rated as weather and dust resistant and survives impacts from up to 2 meters • 2-year warranty • 5-Position Adjustable Light Head strap holster for Directing Light o The holster uses a detent type angle adjustment which is handy when you can’t get your head positioned at the right angle. • Soft, sweat absorbing microfiber padding on the forehead of the adjustable elastic head band is very comfortable. • Light Holster can be removed from the head strap and attached to the light bracket on Milwaukee BOLT hardhats. o It’s a bit of a pain to do, but if you were going to use the light almost always on a hardhat this is a handy feature (see photos.) Because the light mounts to the holster magnetically you can still remove it from the hardhat to mount somewhere else. • 2-year Warranty • Includes: (1) 2012 Rechargeable Magnetic Headlamp and Task Light w/ (1) 2-foot heavy duty cable and (4) Universal hard hat clips o If you don’t have a Milwaukee BOLT hardhat with a light bracket on the front you can use the clips to put the head strap on your hardhat. (I have already misplaced the clips.) OPERATION: Two buttons: on/off, and mode. The mode button cycles through the 5 lighting modes described above. The light does remember the last lighting mode used and will return to that mode when the light is turned on again. The light WILL NOT TURN ON while charging. SUMMARY: Small, light, with good features. Perfect for my DIY work.

Bright and Comfortable
I have had this headlamp for a few weeks now. It is considerably bright and really functional along with a few different light settings. It is adjusts in a few different positions to enable more light on your work if you can not tilt your head. It is comfortable to wear. I have used it about 6 times and am glad that I have it. It recharges fast enough for me and uses a standard HDMI cord like you use in your phone. I hope to get a lot of use out of this.

Great 3rd Hand!
The Milwaukee 450 Lumens Internal Rechargeable Magnetic Headlamp and Task Light is a God sent when you need three hands (2 for the task and 1 for mobile illumination)! Very well made, with positive adjustable fitting and placement angles, the headlamp allows me to perform detailed task with a bright, clear visibility that allows my vision to "Properly See" what I'm working on. Most of my DIY around-the-home jobs can't be relocated to my well illuminated work bench, thus this small tool greatly assist my repair, reconstruction, installation and maintenance activities! It is one of the first tools I grab when going to perform jobs around the house!!

Great as a task light or a headlight
I have a few different styles of headlights but since receiving this Milwaukee light - it is my go-to light in my tool box. I like the durable construction and design. Milwaukee really thought this one out with the magnetic base light that separates from the headband. This makes the Milwaukee a versatile task light that can be placed anywhere there is magnetic metal. The light magnetic base is very strong so the light stays in place, even when using with the headband, the magnet stays in place when pulling down on the light to aim. I also like the built-in battery. I can easily recharge the Milwaukee OTG in my truck or with one of my tool power bases. No more disposable batteries. Battery life is sufficient for my needs and recharge is impressive. The built-in battery meter is helpful - it is a fuel gauge of the battery. Light output is very adequate when using any combination of spot and flood and the TRUEVIEW color helps with detail work such as working with colored wires. The kit comes with everything needed including hard hat clips and a USB charging cable.

Very bright, great battery life
Been using this light a whole lot lately and am extremely content with it. It's got 5 lighting modes (flood high/low, spot high/low, both high). It puts out a whole lot of usable light when both LEDs are on full brightness at the expense of battery life - I get somewhere around 2-3 hours of use in this setting which is within the advertised specs. The headband is comfortable and the whole assembly is rather lightweight. What really sets this light apart is the ability to remove the light from the headband, so you can use it for area lighting in a pinch. The magnet is very strong and it sticks really well. It takes a surprising bit of force to remove from the headband, so there's no chance that it will pop off accidentally. Overall a great light and addition to my toolbox!

Great magnetic mount headlamp
I love the magnetic feature. Headlamps are great, but every once in a while you just need a light in a certain spot. IE cleaning out the freezer, fixing the furnace, working on your car/truck etc. It is bright but not insane. I have another Milwaukee headlamp that is so bright you feel like you are walking around with a truck light bar mounted to your forehead. This has plenty of light but doesn't light up the entire work area like some of the other Milwaukee headlamps. Note the red in description is the color of the band. The headlamp does not have a red light. I received Milwaukee 450 Lumens Internal Rechargeable Magnetic Headlamp and Task Light, Red for free to write this review.

A very functional headlamp
The Milwaukee 450 Lumens Internal Rechargeable Magnetic Headlamp and Task Light is a very functional headlamp. To start with the on/off button is round and the mode selector button is rectangle shaped so there is no mixing up which one is which. Seems novel I know, but one would be surprised how many manufacturers make both switches identical, which leads to frustration. The next cool feature is the magnetic attachment, which means the light is easily removed from its perch and is attachable to most anything metal. The light is adjustable with five clicking positions that allow the light to rotate as much as 90 degrees. The light itself has five lighting options that provide both a flood and focused light (high and low), or a combination of both lights which only has a high option. This headlamp is both durable and comfortable to wear. It has an internal battery that is charged with a USB cable (provided). It even comes with hard hat adapters that for some reason won’t work on my hard head.

LIGHT WEIGHT; DETACHABLE LIGHT with MAGNETS; VERSATILE
LIGHT WEIGHT; DETACHABLE LIGHT with MAGNETS; VERSATILE — The Milwaukee 450 Lumens Internal Rechargeable Magnetic Headlamp and Task Light, Red is a significant upgrade from my previous Milwaukee rechargeable headlamp. The major improvement for me is its smaller size and lighter weight. The lighter weight makes it less fatiguing when using it for a long time. Another improvement is that it has 450 lumens instead of 300 lumens. The headlamp is easily detachable with a strong magnet on three surfaces so that if you have metal nearby, the light can be aimed in any direction. The headlamp may be rotated up and down to any of five positions so that the light can be aimed without moving your head unnecessarily. There are also five light levels. The stronger the light, the less the run time but that allows a light level for whatever the task demands. For three seconds when the headlamp is turned on or turned off, an indicator on the side displays a color indicating the range of the charge remaining. The headband is adjustable and comfortable to wear. The light comes with clips to attach it to a hard hat. It is made in China.

Very good quality headlamp with solid quality and clever features
This is my new favorite headlamp. I’ve bought quite a few Milwaukee lights including two of the spot lights and two of the big spotlights (one as a gift then another for myself) and I have some bigger ones like the big rocket light and a smaller M18 light. One thing I like about them all is the common controls with a separate on/off switch and a switch for toggling the modes. And they all recall the mode it was last in. Milwaukee nailed it with that design and they use it on everything, including this light. I really like that they did not skimp on the design even for this small headlamp. And the build quality is solid as a rock. The magnetic catch that lets you pull it out is absolutely great. Love that. Very clever. It is very strong but not hard to get out. Being able to flip it either way in the cradle depending on where you want the buttons is just the ticket. Good idea. I have several headlamps and this one has the best strap of them all. It is very solid and comfortable with a firm feel. You can get it sturdy without making it so tight your head aches. The only area I don’t give it absolute top marks in is the hardhat attachment system. I’d call it a close second on that. The clips it comes with are good and simple to use (forget looking at instructions because you won’t need to. I did not). They are easy to put on but they just do not slide around easily once they are on so it can take a couple minutes to get the clips positioned just right for your hat. That’s nit picking I know but it is the difference in first and second on that point. Once it is on the hat it is very secure and solid. But if you are going to take it on and off the hat often it is a little bit of a hassle because of the effort needed to position the clips just so. If you leave it on then it can’t be beat. But I have one with a very tacky band that is much easier to put on and off the hat. But this one sells for less than half what that one costs too so for the cost this one wins. However this one is hands down my favorite for wearing without a hardhat. No contest. They do make a few different versions and I like the one that uses the red lithium batteries. That one goes for a little more and if you don’t mind spending a bit more I think that one might have the edge by a little over this one just due to the battery system. But you can’t go wrong with this one. This one is super bright (surprisingly so given its size) and charged up quickly off my USB hub with a charging port. The cables that come with these Milwaukee devices are I believe the best made USB cables I have seen to date and I deal with that sort of thing a lot being a computer engineer. I’ve used them in place of others on some devices because they give such a solid connection. They really don’t cut any corners even on small things like that.

Great Compact Headlamp With Many Features
I have tried several other brands of rechargeable headlamps and this is by far the most versatile and compact that I have found. The light has a magnetic base which allows it be easily removed from the headband and attached to any steel surface in one of three angles. The band also allows the light to be tipped down to adequately focus on the workspace. The mode switch sequences through two spot, two flood and one combined setting. There is a separate power switch which I prefer. The estimated battery use is from 2.5 hours when brightest to 14 hours on the very lowest setting. This looks accurate according to my limited use so far. On the brightest setting the output is estimated at 450 lumens, and is comparable to my 400 lumen competitor’s lamp. It comes with 4 hard hat clips and a USB charging cable. From what I see initially this will be my go-to light in the future. Note: this like many of these tools are designed by Milwaukee and manufactured in China.
