Heavy-duty ship auger bits are for all types of construction. Precision machined for smooth, wobble free boring. Large, wide throat design gives excellent chip clearance from deep holes. Self feeding screwpoint, with one cutting edge and side lip for fast, rough boring in wood. Hardened cutting edges require less resharpening.

Hi Coach Dave, Thanks for your reply. I had already cut around some of the pipe and pulled out the top plus some. I need to remove even more for stump grinding. The bottom is inaccessible because it's straight down, deep into the stump and roots. Driving it further down may be possible, but it's heavily corroded and I wouldn't know the result for certain. Regards, Stumped
Definitely not. You'd ruin the bit and get nowhere. These bits are only for wood, not metal. You could use a smaller, less expensive bit and drill into the wood all around the pipe. Don't hit the pipe with the drill. Eventually you'll weaken the wood surrounding the pipe enough that you can pull it out. If you have a tractor with bucket or a winch or engine hoist, you could use a HSS drill bit to drill into the side of the pipe, then hook into the hole you made in the pipe and power it out that way.
Howdy Stumped, This most likely would not work. If you can cut the top and bottom, you could simply drive it out of the stump. If not, then perhaps just cutting the top of the pipe off. happy cutting, Coach Dave
No we recommend this in a drill or hammer drill driver.
