This thing is better than I expected and worse. I'm a gadget kind of guy. I love trying out new ideas. This one is very creative. The magnet is much more powerful than I expected. Just for fun, I picked up a couple tools that were metal. This little magnet will support a full sized caulk gun. If you've got metal where you're measuring, this is the ticket. With the magnet attached to a toolbox, I was able to get 15' away and the magnet held solid. The beauty is that it doesn't interfere with the tape's operation when measuring anything else after the first inch. Pretty cool. The double sided print is great. Inches and Millimeters on the front as usual. The cool part is that the tape has inches and millimeters on the back side turned 90 degrees which makes it very easy to measure heights and depths. On the bottom of the housing, it has a good sized opening where you can view about 3/4" of the tape while it's not quite out of the body. The size is a little smaller than others I've used and I like that part. It is plenty wide enough to have a wide tape, not a skinny one. The weight is a bit lighter too. It does have a slot for a lanyard but one's not included. I've never used one of those anyway. It has just over 10 feet of standout. Very stiff yet recoils quickly and easily. Now for the downfalls. The magnet covers more than the first inch. You can barely see the markings for the first inch or so. My biggest disappointment is that the inches only show on the top of the tape as it shows MM's on the bottom. I've needed to use the bottom of the tape for inches and I had to turn the tape around, backwards to mark my measurement before cutting. Overall, I'm on the fence with this one. The benefits are fantastic but the downfalls are pretty big. Not being able to read inches in the bottom of the tape is huge. The magnet blocking the first inch or so isn't something to be discounted either.

5 m /16 ft. Premium Magnetic Tape Measure Milwaukee just hit a homerun with this new tape measure. I can run it out over 8 feet and the tape does not droop because it holds it shape so well, having a strong concave top surface. A really neat feature is the tip has a magnet that is strong enough for you to “stick it” on a steel surface and walk away as the tape extends for exact distance measurements. And the tape is marked on both sides (see photos attached) in both inches (with 1/16” markings) and centimeters (with millimeter markings). 16 and 24-inch stud marking diamonds are also printed on the tape. I find that the wire-type belt loop slips over my jean’s pocket edge easier than the metal clip on my older tape measure. I also like the convenient tape thump lock.

(What's this)
This is definitely a "premium" measuring tape-probably the nicest one I have now. It has a 16' length with a handy magnetic end, printed measurements on both sides of the tape and a" finger lock" opening underneath the case + the usual" click-lock lever" on the side of the case. In addition, it features a heavy duty clip on the backside to firmly attach it it to your belt or pocket. The case appears to be pretty heavy duty, so it should last a long time. I've already used it on a couple of small projects around the house and it works smoothly and accurately!

(What's this)
This is one of the best quality tape measures I've ever had. Feels very solid in the hand. Very rugged, yet ergonomic and comfortable to grip. The tape measure is very strong. The package states 9" standout. I tested that and extended it 9'. 4 out of 5 times, the tape measure stayed straight, just hanging in the breeze. Sure, there was a little sag, but that was expected. One clever feature is the finger stop. That makes it very convenient for quick measurements, where clicking the thumb lock on and off each time is a nuisance. Never had a tape measure with this feature, and never knew what I was missing. Retaining clip at end of tape measure is magnetized. Useful for getting to screws you may have dropped, or securing the tape end to a metal surface. Comes with a handy belt clip. If I had to ding it for anything, it would be the lack of a wrist strap.

(What's this)
Milwaukee 5m -16 ft. Premium Magnetic Tape Measure - a Home Depot Seeds Program Review I always have tape measures around. I keep one just about anywhere I might go – sheds, cars, garage, kitchen, etc. Generally I just have cheap “freebies” that I don’t care if they get lost, broken or “borrowed”. For some work, though, I want a good, accurate tool and my needs are pretty specific. The Milwaukee 5m -16 ft. Premium Magnetic Tape Measure meets all of my needs and then some. The tape is 16 feet or 5 meters and marked in SAE and metric on both sides. This is something I really want in a good tape. The tape also has a section on one side of the metric markings for Architectural Scale which is not something I would probably make much use of but some may have use of the 1:20 and 1:50 scale markings. The markings are all very clear and readable down to 1/16 inches and to millimeters. The curve on the one inch wide tape allows for a 9 ft standout. I was able to ge as much as 9ft 10in before it bent. The hook is very solid and held by four rivets so I expect it would take some considerable abuse before tearing the end of the tape. In addition to the rivets there’s an anti-tear coating on the convex side extending 6 inches up the tape that should provide additional strength. The hook extends over the tape in all directions which makes it able to hook with the tape in any orientation. There’s also a magnet on the end of the tape to help hold when measuring where metal is used. The case is held together with four screws making it feel very solid. The belt/pocket clip is very strong as well and held by a single screw in case you don’t want it attached. If you prefer a lanyard there’s a place to attach one but no lanyard is included. The lock holds very well and there’s an indent on the bottom to be used as a finger stop. I’m still getting used to using that finger stop since I’ve always just placed my finger between the hook and the case as a stop. The indent is nice though. I do some finer woodworking and need some accuracy greater than that of a construction application. At 16 feet the length is about perfect for me since I rarely measure beyond that and the reduced size is great. The one inch width means the edge of the tape stand up about ¼ inch when looking down at the concave side. Parallax errors will definitely be a problem and precision measurements can be affected but this is where having the measurement marking on both sides and the ability to use the hook in any orientation comes in very handy. Flip the tape over and view down on the convex side and the markings are right on the work. Likewise, with the hook holding in any orientation, you just roll the concave edge down to where the markings touch the work piece. This reduction of parallax may not seem significant to some but is critical for me. This Milwaukee 5m -16 ft. Premium Magnetic Tape Measure has everything I need and want in a tape measure. It’s small enough to carry easily and I don’t need more than the 16 feet. I like having both SAE and metric measurements. The magnetic end, while not that useful to me, is a plus, as is the indent to use as a finger stop. The clear markings on both side of the tape increase the versatility and reduce parallax errors to at or near zero. A lot of good design features went into this tape to improve longevity and usability. I really couldn’t find anything to fault it on.

(What's this)
The best tape I've ever used. Great markings. Tip works several ways. Nice spring, great standout. Classic Milwaukee, good product. Built well, nice features. The end-clip will catch on either side. The end also has a magnet to "stick" it to steel studs, pipe, even a nail-head. Marked on both sides with clear numbers and increments. Retracts smoothly. An added detail: plastic overlay on the end so if you let it retract too fast, it won't slap-slap and start to crack at the end. But you can control the retraction with a clever notch for your finger to brake the tape speed. This is also a lip to catch the end of your board for easier measurement. Belt-clip works good (is removable). "Standout" means how far you can "poke" the tape without it flopping down. The tape-lock works smooth and well, better than most. I also like the rugged rounded case which should withstand long drops. This "5m/16ft." model is both inches and metric. Milwaukee and Home Depot have the same basic tape but called "16ft." (#48-22-0116) which is inches only.

(What's this)
Every so often you get a tool that you just know that either a contractor or handyman was involved in the design and eventual creation of the item. This tape measure fits the bill nicely. First it has a good rubber case which is excellent for holding, It has the usual nice belt clip on the side. The 16 feet of length is perfect for almost any job. I especially like the face that you can hold the tape underneath exactly where you need to and you can then use the lock if necessary. The magnet feature is nice if butting against something magnetic thought I especially liked the lip at the end of the tape that holds onto the end of the item being measured. But my most favorite part of this tape measure is that you can read the measurement from either the top or the bottom - one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments that make this a great tape measure to have in any tool box. Well Done Milwaukee!
