As with all Milwaukee tools, this measuring tape is top quality. It has a hook on the back so you can hook it to your belt, and it has measurements on both sides for inches and feet and on the back additional measurements for architectural use. It is on the heavy side, but I think that will just make it more durable. I haven't dropped it yet, but give me time. The end is magnetic so you can use it without a second person and the 17 foot reach also makes it easier to use alone. I do find that it makes a 'U' shape when let out, which makes it a little bit of a challenge to mark whatever you're working on. All in all, a great tool to have in your toolbox.

Yes it can! We tested the 14-ft standout to verify the claim. Substantial, curved, heavy duty 26-ft long tape, 1” wide (vinyl reinforced for first 6-in), weighs in at a hefty 1 lb 4 oz. Numbers are printed on both sides (English and metric), additional red numbers on 16-ft centers, handy 1:20 and 1:50 architectural scales (blueprints). Impact resistant, professional grade design with convenient thumb lock and bottom finger stop, rubber shielding (good grip). Belt hook is easily removable with single screw. If we don’t lose it first (always a risk), bound to last a lifetime.

Big improvement over the original STUD tapes. I like this a lot. It's a bit more compact but still a substantial tape. I love the ant-tear coating, and this has a 14 foot standout - impressive for a 16 foot tape. If I'm careful I can get 14 feet 4" before it snaps. The numbers are easy to read and printed on both sides. There is an architectural scale on the back, and both metric and imperial scales. I'm not about to test the 80 foot fall claim, but I'm definitely not concerned about tossing this around

I was down to one ancient no name tape measure. Like socks they mysteriously seem to disappear over the years. (I blame Warhammer... except not for socks.) But whoa, this Milwaukee tape measure is kinda pricey for 16 ft. So I'll compare it to my old one I bought 20 years ago for probably a dollar. The old one twists and buckles at 4 ft. The new Milwaukee "Stud" doesn't start to twist until about 10 feet. I can actually extend it out further without it buckling or twisting if I'm real careful. The belt clip on the old one was more or less a wire and fell off soon after I bought it. The Milwaukee clip also looks like a wire, but fatter and appears sturdy. Old tape measure 13/16" wide, the Milwaukee is about 1 1/8" wide. Old one standard measurement only. The new "Stud" is standard and metric. Both have plastic housings, the Milwaukee a little easier to grasp. Both have clear legible markings, the old no name is scratched up but the markings are still all intact. Older is 25 ft but lighter weight than the 16 Ft Milwaukee. Both retract smoothly and immediately. Both have locking mechanisms that function well and are easy to use. I prefer the Milwaukee stud mainly because it doesn't buckle and twist as easily as the old cheap one, and because it's faster with the printed metric scale, (I don't have to do the conversions.) But I'm still hanging on to my old cheap friend so long as it works. The question is, can you buy a cheap tape measure today that will still function 20 years from now. Probably not. How about this Milwaukee? Time will tell but overall feels heavier and sturdier than my old relic.

Best Tape Measure I have owned ever. Lots of features designed to fit your hand better than other tapes is very comfortable and is basically non-slip. The same is true when you rest the tape on a flat surface but have it hooked over the surface end 10 feet away. It stays put and doesn't crawl. When you want to recoil the tape will swiftly retreat but because of the grip you can slow it with your fingers. I really like the imperial and metric numbers combined on one side. They are both big enough to read easily. Even the belt hook is strong and stays put. The tab on the end is very straight and secure.

The Milwaukee 5 m/16 ft. x 1.3 in. Gen II STUD Tape Measure with 17 ft. Reach is a heavy duty tape measure aimed at the professional in their daily jobsite use/,. The holder is well constructed and very solid and has a 16' reach. The tape itself is a thicker type of stiff blade and wont sag like some lower end taps will. The blade also appears more rugid and should work well. This heavy duty Tape Measure will give you years of use and hold up to all your jobsite demands.

If you're looking for a strong and reliable tape measure, this one should fit the bill. It is heavy duty, and can extend at least 12 feet before "breaking." I like that it has measurements marked on the top and bottom of the tape, but I don't prefer the metric measurements being included on one edge...I would rather see standard measurements all around. The tape also occasionally doesn't reel itself all the way in and requires a full extension and retrieval to make it stay put. Overall, though, I think this is a good tape, and I am glad it is a part of my tool collection that I use frequently.

For its length this is a large tape measure. It is larger than a normal 25' tape measure. If you are wearing heavy gloves it would probably be fine. It shows both metric and English scales on both sides of the tape, a plus. Rather than use a plastic button on the reverse to hold the tape in place you use your finger, gloved or not. Possibly on less part to break. Its well made and padded. Claims to be drop resistant, but I didn't test that. Not really sure who its intended audience is because of its size for length.

This is an excellent tape measure. The build quality and materials are excellent. The body of the tape measure is rugged, the belt clip wire is thick and the tape is wide, and its numbers and lines are clear. The tape measurements are printed on both sides of the tape so you can read the length on either side. The tape has EXO 360 Rip & Wear resistant technology, but I haven't owned it long enough to see how long it can last. The tape measure's lock button is smooth to operate and the tape pulls out and retracts without problems. I like the finger stop capability that is on this tape measure, you can hold the tape in place by pressing your index finger in the finger stop groove. This allows you to move and hold the tape faster and easier than operating lock button. My expectations are exceeded with this tape measure.
