Small, solid and well designed. These little scissors are very comfortable to use, even for big hands. There is a 2” scissor blade with a gullet to hold the wire being cut in place as you squeeze them closed. On the top of the upper blade are two small notches for stripping small gauge wire. They work well, especially with solid wire. Construction is very solid. They feel heavy in the hand and they have a plastic grip on the upper handle. The two blades are held together with a strong looking bolt. I can’t think of anything else one would need in a small pair of wire snips. I wish I had these snips years ago. THESE SNIPS ARE NOT FLIMSY BY ANY MEANS, THEY ARE BUILT FOR LONG AND RUGGED USE, THEY ARE GOING TO LAST A LONG TIME. DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR FINGERS TO FIT IN THE COMFORT GRIPS, THEY ARE A LITTLE AWKWARD FOR MY FINGERS BUT USEABLE. THEY EASILY CUT WIRES WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL. I AM SURE I WILL FIND A LOT OF USES FOR THESE SNIPS. THESE SNIPS ARE HANDY TO HAVE IN MY TOOL COLLECTION.

The Home Depot and Milwaukee have a great set of small snips in this set ! The blades appear to be Cadmium plated for rust free use ! The thumb hole is of a good size for adult hands. The finger side is elongated and molded in a Poly type of plastic for a great grip (see photos) and leverage ! The blades have shaped area for cutting larger wire and stripping insulation off wire ! I really like the quality and comfortable feel of them !!

Milwaukee data snips for voice/data/video cable installation are fantastic—they’re sharp, have all-metal construction so their incredibly sturdy, and the integrated strippers are handy, but what you’ll appreciate most is the gullet at the base of the blades that keeps cables from walking, allowing fast, accurate cuts. The blades are serrated, as you’d expect, and they’re really, really sharp. Feel free to put these on the ground and lean on them when cutting something thick, because they’re sturdy as can be. The rubber coated grip is nice, and it’s an ambidextrous tool—lefties rejoice!

(What's this)
These are the best electrician snips I’ve ever used and much better than my prior set from another company. What I like: • The Milwaukee name is important. They get their tools right. • Very lightweight and small, which is good. • The handles are really nice with a hard rubber feel over the metal handle. Big or small fingers (with or without gloves) will be able to accurately use these. If you have well above average sized thumbs it might become tight. • The serrated blades with concave gullet keep the wires in place without slipping. Not all data snips have these. • Blades are high quality and made for heavy use and will not loosen over time. • The price is right for this quality. What I don’t like: • I really can’t find anything to pick at with these. I’m a fan of these for the reasons above. To me, this is an easy choice. I fully recommend.

(What's this)
Another winner for Milwaukee. These snips are perfectly functional and almost perfect in quality. I used them to make repeated cuts trough 12 gauge audio wire to try them out. I was able to cut through it using the straight part of the scissors without hurting my hand. My favorite feature is the blades curve up at the hinge almost like heavy duty cutting shears and I was able to cut through the jacket and dual 12 gauge wires without removing my thumb from the handle loop about two out of three tries. They also felt good in my hand under repeated use. They are small to me, as I have large but not plump hands and long fingers, but that did not make them uncomfortable. They somehow adjusted to my hand and vice versa, like a good pair of shoes. Finally they came well oiled, which to me is a plus because it says the manufacturer cares enough about their own product to keep it protected. The only imperfections aren’t related to functionality. There is a slight catch when closing the blades slowly. Unnoticed during normal cutting speed. And the lower blade had the slightest roughness along it. So 4.5 on quality really and the value over price is high, not stratospheric. Overall a typical 5 star Milwaukee product. Professionally Made in Taiwan under Milwaukee’s QC which is among the best period.

This is a quality pair of electrician’s scissors. I watched my brother-in-law, who’s an electrician use a pair these while installing Cat5 cabling in my office. I am adding more Cat5 for a printer and network switch. These scissors make removing the shielding easy. They are sharp, heavy-duty and the handle fits my hand well making it easy to control the amount of pressure I put on it. I can see several jobs these will work on. I recommend these scissors.

Durable, easy to use, sharp. Small size fits in pockets easily. These are nice electrician and general shears that will last a lifetime and the warranty backs that up. Assembled from all steel with a rubberized grip, these fit well in the palm. In my opinion, the finger holes are way too small. I cannot get my thumb in the hole, nor can I fit more than one finger in the rubberized grip. With gloves on it's not possible to use the holes. Since you can palm it it works fine for most cutting, but I'd have preferred it actually fit large sized hands/fingers with the finger holes. Since it's well made cuts well and is super strong I'd recommend it, just know that it runs small in size.

(What's this)
This review is for the Milwaukee 48-22-4045 Electrician Snips, which I got a chance to try out. I’m not a pro electrician, I’m a semi-retired computer tech, so my review will be from that standpoint. I try to avoid cabling jobs (giving them to the younger crowd) but sometimes I just can’t avoid them. The Milwaukee 4045 is a new take on an old idea – “scissors” designed to cut cable and insulation instead of paper or cloth. (The 4045 comes plenty sharp enough to cut paper or cloth, those just aren’t its intended targets). “Old school” electrician snips have equal sized “thumb rings”; the Milwaukee has elongated one of the rings and put a very nice rubberized grip on it. If you aren’t familiar with this type of snip, one thumb ring will go around your second or third finger while the other is held in the palm of your hand, unlike regular scissors where the rings are controlled with a thumb and finger grip. With the “finger and palm” grip you can generate more pressure on the cutting surfaces and let the snips swivel on the finger to have use of your index finger and thumb for twisting wire caps, tying wire, etc. There are videos available on the Internet on how to use electrician snips that explain it better. The 4045 are more comfortable to work with than my old snips – the rubberized handle makes a big difference. It doesn’t dig into your palm and there’s more surface area to press on than the old-style snips offered. There’s absolutely no issue in cutting Cat6 cable – no slippage, no ragged edges. If I had two suggestions for Milwaukee, they would be to add a similar rubberized surface to the inside of the other ring to offer more comfort for the finger grip, and to include a belt sheath. (Milwaukee does offer, of course, tool belt pouches in any number of designs and sizes, but a dedicated sheath would be very nice). The tool is full metal apart from the rubberized grip, and they offer a ‘bolt lock’ solution to the blades working loose. I haven’t used the snips long enough to judge how well the new locking system will hold up over time. One of the blade edges has serrations across the top to help keep cable from slipping, and there are two built in strip points in one blade for stripping fine wire. Fit and finish are top notch; you’ll want to wipe the excess oil off the blades before first use. These things are just really nice – I wish I’d had them when I was working full time. Not made in the U.S., but Milwaukee offers a limited lifetime warranty on the 4045 and Home Depot has a 90-day return policy on the tool. HTH Regards, Jim
