Questions & Answers

does this utility knife come with at least one blade?

Asked by: pal
Only one blade, but it is double sided, so when one side get dull, just flip the blade over to the sharp side. No extra blade storage though. Great feeling box cutter. Well worth the cost of this item.

can a hook blade be used in this knife?

Asked by: pacman
I believe so, but the fold up is the only concern. Ask the HD guy to let you try it before buying the replacement blades. I think it will work.

I bought this in the combo pack which included the knife. If purchased seperately will the utility knife have the belt or pocket clip?

Asked by: Murph
The pocket clip. The thin wire one

is there a discount for buying 32 at one time. I can pick them up at my store San Carlos ca

Asked by: safe
You can get a discount by either setting up hd credit card or pro account and you save on large purchases. Or you can go to the store and talk to the milwaukee representative (most stores have them). I bet he or she will give you a good deal on that many. Hope this helps years later.

I have been using this Milwaukee set for just under a month and I have found the blades remain sharp, the belt clips are durable and overall, these are a tribute to the Milwaukee name. The handy string/twine cutter is very handy and saves opening and closing the knife. The push button mechanical operation is nice and adds a level of safety when transporting in my pocket. The set comes with a blade caddy and contains a supply of iron-carbide edge blades. These are durable and add to the usability of the knives. Overall, this set is well worth the money and lives up to the Milwaukee name.

As with many of the Milwaukee tools I have used over the years these knives and blades are better than they have to be. I love the push button loader and the lock open and lock closed features. I have had dozens of utility knives over the years, most don't last long under heavy use and tend to be accidents waiting to happen, I hate to think how many pairs of jeans and jackets I've torn with them and how many times the safety cover failed and I barely avoided slicing myself. These things are stout, well made, and firmly lock closed when not in use. I look forward to using them for years.

I have been using a utility knife with a retractable blade for 15 years and it has been good but it now retracts itself when I put pressure on it. So it was time to replace it. These folders are just the thing. one is smaller and one is larger, both are solid tools and seem safe to work with, for a knife. The smaller one pockets easily and is safe until you open it. The larger one has a comfortable handle and is a hefty tool and should last for a long time. The blades lock in securely and do not fall out. Both knives lock closed as well as open , safe and secure. The Milwaukee blades are also excellent, sharp sharp sharp!!!. They do seem to hold their edge longer than others I have used. I like it!

I have a box cutter like the red one already and needed a knife also, so I thought this and thought it was a great deal. While the box cutter is awesome, the knife does not flip open one handed like the box cutter does, which is kind of disappointing, as that is why I purchased this in the first place. The knife blade has a very tight in movement and will not be able to flip out like the heavier weighted box cutter blade unit which is fantastic. I tried to loosen the blade screws to see if that helped and used some lube on it. It helped a little, but the weight of the blade seems to be too light for the knife tension lock release spring. Knowing this now, I probably would have gone with the spring assisted opening knife instead from Milwaukee. It is a nice manual knife. There is no way to test the knife at Home Depot, to see how it functions before the purchase and the packaging is so hard to get the knife out of, it was destroyed to get access to the knife and box cutter. Good price for both if that is what you are looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most ergonomic utility knife known to man! Absolutely the most ergonomic utility knife I have ever laid hands upon. Nothing that slides or screws can come close - the deep grips make it profoundly easy to hang on to and to control, in spite of a lack of aggressive jimping or knurled grips. More comfortable in the hand than the (fatter) Fastback 2, and you can store extra blades in your toolbox if you need more. Thumb stud to release the blade from either position works wonderfully, and the blade carrier swings freely, making this the easiest-opening knife I have ever laid fingers upon. If you need a utility knife for anything, there's not a lot of reason to get something else.

This set came with two different utility knives, plus a 50-pack of Milwaukee utility blades. I liked the folding design of both knifes, which stores most of the blade inside the body of the knife. On one of the knives, however, there is a “gut hook”, which does leave a portion of the blade exposed. Someone with small fingers might accidentally get into this area and cut themselves, and I don’t think the hook is a feature that I would be apt to use very often. That knife also has a notched area that can be used as a wire stripper. I’d usually use a different tool for that, but it’s a nice addition to the overall functionality of the knife. I liked the locking backs, and with the push of a button and a flick of your wrist, the blade opens right up for use. Nice! These knives do not come with any storage area for extra blades. However, changing blades is a snap. There is a simple push-button that releases the blade and allows you to remove/reverse/replace it. Overall the knives seem very well made and durable. Both have a spring hook to allow the knife to be clipped onto something like a pocket, but the spring clip on the knife with the “gut hook” is just a bent piece of wire, and seems a bit flimsy. In fact, you can already see some scratches in the red surface where this spring wire has moved back and forth a few times. Not a deal-breaker at this price, however, but I like the more solid design of the spring clip on the simple knife better. The smaller knife also has a hole that could be used to connect a lanyard or tether – a nice addition if you are always misplacing your knife like I do when I get busy! Getting a full 50-pack of blades plus two knives at this price seems like a deal that is hard to beat. Both knives are comfortable to hold and use, and the folding design makes them quite compact compared to a typical utility knife. The classic Milwaukee red coloring makes them easy to spot, too. I’m favoring these over my Irwin and DeWalt knives already! Says my plumber helper guy from SoCal. This package is right up there with all that. You could buy the version 3 of this, or just go with this nice simplicity and proven product with a zillion 5 star reviews. If you can't flip either one of these well made products with ease, than you should probably quit while you are behind. If I could take a picture of my top "MAC" tool chest drawer, you would find 100 various blades in there... This product is sturdier and better than all the others. I will keep using the old fixed version, (model 67?) I forget what they call it. I like the wire stripper and bonus set of 50 blades for free!
