Questions & Answers

does this utility knife come with at least one blade?

Asked by: pal
Only one blade, but it is double sided, so when one side get dull, just flip the blade over to the sharp side. No extra blade storage though. Great feeling box cutter. Well worth the cost of this item.

Is the camo knife spring assisted?

Asked by: Tileguy123
No, but opens nice with a flip of the wrist after a very short break in period.

can a hook blade be used in this knife?

Asked by: pacman
I believe so, but the fold up is the only concern. Ask the HD guy to let you try it before buying the replacement blades. I think it will work.

I bought this in the combo pack which included the knife. If purchased seperately will the utility knife have the belt or pocket clip?

Asked by: Murph
The pocket clip. The thin wire one

Fastback Utility Knife is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 123.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this knife! I lost my Milwaukee utility knife about 5 or 6 weeks ago which really upset me because I used it so often. Well this afternoon I found my knife. Here I found out today that I had lost it while bow hunting. I found it in the leaves near my tree stand. The only thing rusted was the actual utility razor blade! This is a great knife and I can definitely say holds up well in all weather. (Last week we had 9" of snow on top of it!)

I tried to tighten the torx pivot screws (size T6) but they stripped. They're probably glued in. Anyway, I damaged my Wiha torx L-key in the process so I'm especially unhappy. Next stop....the return desk.

So first, this is a review for the Fastback Flip PLUS Fastback Flip Compact PLUS a 50-pack of blades. Good: - Both knives feel comfortable and secure in the hand. Maybe surprisingly, the Compact feels more controlled in use, because the blade holder assembly is shaped to allow you to choke up on the handle, so your index finger falls closer to the blade (though because of that, it doesn't have the notch for cutting twine or stripping wire.) Sadly, that assembly has sharpish edges where your index finger falls, but a few minutes with a dremel would take care of that. - The construction seems sturdy. The Flip has an all-metal handle, and the Compact has a plastic handle with steel liners. Both don't flex - The locking action seems fine. They lock in both the open and closed positions, which is important for safety. - They both flip open easily. That's good, because opening it any other way requires two hands, one to press the lock button and the other to pull on the blade holder assembly. The action can feel gritty when you close them if you don't depress the button all the way, because that lets the lock press against the blade holder assembly, which has a rough sandblasted finish. No big deal. - The blades seem to lock in securely, and the quick-release mechanism works reliably. The blade has almost no side to side play. There is a bit of play in and out, but that's true of most utility knives. - They both take standard utility knife blades. I don't know what that other reviewer is talking about. - At the pre-Black Friday sale, the set is a screaming bargain, less than half what you would pay for the three items purchased separately. Bad: - On both of mine, the screw that holds the clip was damaged slightly, as if it had been overdriven and the bit cammed out. No big deal. - Neither knife has a provision to store spare blades. There is a another Milwaukee model that does, if you want that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A No Brainer Combo Fastbacks are the best utility knives I've ever used and I won't go back to anything else. This kit is a great deal. You get a compact for your every day carry, and a full sized for the toolbox. All at the cost of just the cost of the included 50 utility blades. This would be a great stocking stuffer for any handy guy in your family.
