A:  Shoe yes. For baseboards the nails aren’t really long enough.

A:  I use it for cabinet shoe, but for base and prime shoe 18 ga is the way to go

A:  Not really unless you use glue.  It’s good for small pieces pinching corners with glue and returns etc.

A:  Is there one of these that can handle shoe molding and baseboards?

            by|Feb 9, 2023

A:  It would be good for the shoe molding but would not be adequate to hold baseboard, baseboard would require at least 18g finish nails to hold.

Perfect for woodworking and trim work
For a lot of the work I do on a regular basis, I need to use a pin nailer to help keep pieces in a glue up together where a clamp will not work well or easily, or need to reattach trim I have removed to do some sort of fix. In the past I had to fire up my compressor, get out the long air hose, and then figure out if I had to move the compressor so I could reach where my work was, all for about 5 or 6 minutes of work. This Milwaukee cordless pin nailer has made these kind of projects so easy that doing them is a snap. The nailer is compact and very light weight and can get into spots I would normally have had trouble accessing (as compared to my other pneumatic nailers), and it is very quiet. Some of my first uses required I be up on a ladder to reattach some ceiling trim and it was extremely easy to use in a relatively precarious position (and I did not have to be concerned with an air hose). It feels good in the hand and allows precise location of where you want the pin to go. It drives the 23 gauge pins it uses cleanly; to date I have had no split wood, misfires, or bent pins. It gets a lot of work done on a single battery charge. The two stage trigger took a bit of getting used to (first time I have used one like this) but I found I liked it a lot the more I used it. The kit contains a soft case, tool, charger, and M12 battery and while it may be a bit pricey, you are getting Milwaukee quality in addition to the convenience this tool provides. Highly recommended; wish I had this a year ago!

Wanted one for a long time
I've wanted a pin nailer for a long time for adding trim to a piece of furniture. The 23-gauge pins are a lot easier to conceal as compared to my pneumatic 18-gauge brad gun. This also has the advantage of being battery powered, so I don't need to drag out the air hose and compressor. These drive the pins well, and there is a depth of drive controller wheel. However, I wasn't able to see much difference. The kit is very nice and includes the 12V battery, charger, and nailer in a nice carry case. I might recommend a "tool-only" version for people like me that already have Milwaukee 12V batteries and chargers. This uses 1/2" to 1-3/8" 23-gauge pin nails. I bought 3 different sizes of pin nails for less than $30. I think it will take a long time to use up 6000 pin nails. Nice features: window showing you have nails left (no dry firing), an LED light that shines on the nailing location, light weight, and a dual-action trigger system to prevent accidental firing. I highly recommend this product for anyone thinking about getting a pin nailer.

                              Great tools
I am extremely happy with all of my Milwaukee tools They are top quality tools. I have the 15 gauge finish nail gun and the 18 gauge brad nail gun and now the 23 gauge pin nail gun. The pin nail gun comes with a nice case with velcro straps to hold it securely in place. The kit also comes with the gun, 12v battery and a charger, easy to read directions. The only problem I have found with any of the cordless nail guns is the weight. The pneumatic guns are light weight but you have to drag around a compressor and hose with you. They are not that heavy so it's really not a problem. Highly recommend it.

                              Milwaukee does it right!
Just the presentation of this tool and its components are impressive. The nailer, charger, and battery are all included in a very nice storage case that will also hold a variety of nail sizes in a mesh pocket on the underside of the lid. I’m not sure if the battery needed a full charge, but it did charge within an hour. (I lost track of time.) I got this to use specifically for building some picture frames that require small fasteners and am really looking forward to this project and many more to come. I haven’t had the chance to use this yet, but I expect it to be top notch just like everything else made by Milwaukee.

                              Solid tool
Very solid and well packaged tool. I was very impress. I’m not the type of person who reads instructions so after charging the battery I just loaded it up and started using it to see how well this thing works. It was simple to load as you just lay in the nails (i.e., see photo) after you pull down on nail holder/magazine. I didn’t bother with adjusting nail depth but you can see it nailed flush with the thick piece of wood in the photo. No misfires and I like Milwaukee’s use of a trigger safety that is very easy to push down with your finger to activate the tool – very safe. This also turns on the LED light and battery level indicator too. Great features, light weight and solid feel. You can’t go wrong.

Easy to use and consistent results
This tool is well thought out and super easy to use. Being battery operated there is obviously no compressor or hoses to run. It is also fairly compact allowing it to fit into corners. Depth of pin can be set without tools, and the double trigger first turns on the LED light and virtually eliminates accidental double strikes. Supplied are 2 non mar point tips and a wrench to free pin jams, which so far I have not needed. The advertised up to 750 pins per battery charge seems accurate. There is a battery charge indicator, a dry fire lockout, and magazine reload indicator, Nail holes are very small, clean, and make for professional appearing work. 23-Guage pin nails, in different lengths, are inexpensive and readily available at Home Depot. This tool made very short work of my baseboard trim installation.

This Milwaukee Pin Nailer uses the M12 platform which allows the nailer to be compact and light weight when compared to other battery based nailers. It will be larger than some pneumatic nailers but you are trading the convenience of no air hose and compressor for a larger tool size. This particular kit includes the nailer, one 1.5 Ah battery, a charger for the 12V battery and a soft case. It uses standard 23 gauge pin nails with lengths between 1/2 inch and 1-3/8 inch. While I did not test the battery rundown, Milwaukee indicates the tool can fire 750 pin nails per charge. The tool is comfortable in my hand and I found it very easy to operate. The tip has a protective cover to prevent material marring. A spare protective cover is stored on the tool. The tool also features a belt clip, LED light, hex wrench for jam clearing, battery gauge and a depth adjustment. As with almost all Milwaukee products, no nails are included with the kit. Out of the bag the depth adjustment was set perfectly for the type of wood I was nailing into. Nails set just below the surface. I ran the adjuster to both ends and tested in the same wood and found it sank deeper and the above the surface as expected. Fire rate was not as rapid as a framing nailer but considering this is a battery based product, the firing rate was faster than I expected. The tool, like most in the nailer tool portfolio, has a safety mechanism that must be engaged before a pin nail is fired. In the case of this tool you hold down what Milwaukee calls a lock-off button with your middle finger (it sits just below the trigger) then you can pull the trigger to fire the pin nail. Overall a great product.

What a neat nailer to have around. This is going to be such a great help with projects in the house and around the shop. This will be great for building my bird houses. It’s quick and easy to use. It fires nails easily into cedar and you have to look closely to even see where they are. The first thing I used it for was to mount a coat rack on a wall. The studs in the wall didn’t exactly match up to where the screws would normally be, so I put it into place and then used the nailer to fasten it to the studs. Then it was easy to keep in place while I drilled holes though the rack and into the studs. No slipping or moving while trying to keep everything aligned and drill pilot holes too. You’ll have to point the nail holes out for anyone to see them. This is going to be so handy in the shop for fastening pieces together to glue or install fasteners. You can barely see the holes. I made some wooden supports for the bottom and top of a friends folding doors, applied glue to the supports and used the pin nailer to keep them in place. This is the perfect tool for trim molding too. Quickly and easily put up molding without the big holes to fill. It uses the very popular and dependable M12 batteries. An LED helps to put light on your project and is especially nice in those dark areas. Depth adjustment is tool free, so nothing to lose or keep up with. The tip has a rubber cover to protect your workpiece. The battery level indicator is on the tool. It will use 23ga pin nails from 12” to 1-3/8”. This nailer has worked flawlessly for me. It’s not heavy and it surely doesn’t take up much space. The tool comes with a three year warranty, an embroidered case, battery and charger.

The MILWAUKEE M12 23-Gauge Pin Nailer Kit is what I have been looking for. I wanted a 23-Gauge pin nailer that I don’t have to a compressor, hose or gas cartridge. It comes with (1) M12 23GA pin nailer, (1) M12 charger, (1) M12 Redlithium CP 1.5Ah battery pack, (1) contractor bag. The size is defiantly bigger than the pneumatic nailer and weight a lot more than the pneumatic nailer. I weigh mine and it was 3 lbs. 12 oz. with the battery installed. A fully charge battery will shoot up to 750 pin nails per charge what Milwaukee claims. I have not verified it if it does what they claim. The length of nails it will shoot is 1/2 in. to 1-3/8 in. 23-Gauge headless pin nails I do have only one complaint or draw back for me is the safety lock-off switch. The nailer has a safety lock-off switch. What this does is you have pull back the switch and pull back on the trigger to fire the nail. All of my other nailers used the contact tip as a safety switch to fire the nail when the trigger is depressed. So, for example if you have the finger on the on-safety lock you can fire the gun at anytime without putting the contact tip on the wood. Thus, it can become a gun firing nail at other than wood, like people. I am not a fan of that! The warranty for the tool come with 3-year warranty and the battery is 2-years. Product is made in China.
