It will cut hardwood and metal just fine. Not sure about battery life. There are actually different sized batteries available. Have to look at amperage.
This saw uses a M12 volt battery the 2737-20 uses the m18 volt system. I would say that the 18 volt may be better for heavy professional use, 12 volt is for lighter use or home. I have the 12 volt system for all my home use hand tools and I really like the size, weight and quality. Look at both and purchase whichever system you like knowing that it is easier to have one type of battery that can be interchanged between all your hand tools. There are many manufacturers that have these products.
Yes, the dust builds up behind the blade.
No it does not.
It varies, depending on what kind of jigsaw blade is being used at the time.
No. That is a HUGE problem. Without a blower, the splinter shoe fills up with dust causing the dust to accumulate in front of the shoe so you cannot see the line you are trying to cut. You can physically blow on the cut line, but the shoe fills so quickly that you need to constantly blow in order to see the cutline. That to me is ridiculous and irritating. One of the reasons I bought this jigsaw was the splinter shoe because I make many curved cuts on plywood. The tool feels good, has plenty of power, and cuts fine, but actual use is frustrating because of being unable to follow a cut line. This is the only Milwaukee tool in my arsenal that I am disappointed with. I cannot recommend it and regret my purchase.
fast
Yes. With a sharp blade I have sawn through 2x material and the table it was laying on.
