How do i remove battery from 6 inch pruning saw?

That battery is hard to remove. You really have to squeeze hard on the sides to release it, while also pulling. I have trouble getting it out every time, but it does eventually slide out. Once you squeeze the sides correctly it's surprising how easily it slips out. The hard part is pressing hard enough on both catches while also pulling on the battery.

Good question... I didn't see one as an option on any sites visited during 'research'. I had an old computer bag that I use. The hatchet fits perfectly w/o battery attached; and since I use the bag to transport the hatchet to/from the woods via 4 wheeler, I can also carry extra batteries in the bag and feel confident that they are not getting tossed about during the ride.

When will this be available to fit the M 18 batteries. I already have a whole set of M 18 and I am reluctant to move into 12 V

It is currently only available on the M12 platform. I highly doubt Milwaukee will make an M18 version, but it's possible.

How will this compare to a Sawzall w/a pruning blade?

I find it much smother. The shaking of the sawsall was very tiring. I think Hatchet works faster.

does it come in m18 or just m12

So I picked this up to trim/prune some pines in front of my house, and how well it did exactly that! It’ll take a beating and just keep eating! Been using it basically non-stop, and it just keeps going. Keep ‘er oiled up (it goes through oil like mad), keep a charged battery, and get to gettin’. I am thoroughly impressed with how much this Hatchet can do.

This lost 2 stars from me mainly due to the ergonomics. It is not all that comfortable to use with one hand I found out about this right in time, I wanted to purchase a similar one for about a year and was going to finally cave in when I found out about this one. Since I am already invested heavily in the M12 lineup, runtime would never be an issue since I have batteries for days. I was also looking at a 10" chainsaw but decided not to get one since it did not have the tool free tensioning system. After buying this I reconsidered not getting the 10" chainsaw. As this did not have a tool free tensioning system either. Both were similar in price and where I live I pretty much have to get the chains and bars online as none of my local stores currently have them in stock. So if I need a bar or chains, I cannot simply go to the store and grab one it would take a few days to get one. I have several large chainsaws, but I mainly use them for cutting down branches and sometimes the 16" and 18" can be overkill so I wanted something smaller, that I can easily store in my vehicle. All in all this cut well. I was able to make quick work of downed branches from a post storm cleanup, and I was able to cut through pallet pieces easily to break them down. I used my 4.0 ah battery, I did not count the cuts. The window for the oil is clearly visible which is good. This has an onboard storage for the scrench. Having the scrench handy is also good for removing some of the gunk that forms inside from the oil mixed with the tree trimmings. I would like to see a few improvements for a Gen II model. Suggestions: The housing for the motor is a little wide so it does not make a one handed operation all that comfortable as I had to open my hand wider to press the start button and the trigger at the same time. I would reposition the button so it is closer to where your thumb would lie. I have big hands and I still had to stretch my fingers to start it with one hand .I am a righty so starting this and turning it on its side in a mater of 3 seconds to see the battery indicator is a hassle at times. I would move the indicator to the rear so you can see it as soon as you start the saw. It's 2020 everything has an LED, I would like to see on added to this also I found that this uses a lot of oil. When I get a Milwaukee tool my first question is which packout will I need. For this the small organizer is just a tad bit too small, so you would need one of the full size organizers. By full size, I mean width wise one like the 11 compartment organizer.

I received the Milwaukee 6" M12 fuel 12 volt lithium-ion brushless cordless hatchet pruning saw kit with 4.0 battery and charger. It's powerful, compact and lightweight which I like. I had a branch fall off a tree near my home and I used this tool to cut up the branch into smaller pieces to be able to move the debris. I started with a full charge and had no issues finishing the job. I have also used this tool to prune a crepe myrtle tree of it's lower branches which are about 3 inches in diameter and it did a great job on the pruning. I highly recommend this hatchet pruning saw.

(What's this)
Say hello to my little friend! This pruning saw made quick work taking down overgrowth on our cherry tree. 3, 4 and even 6 inch branches came down with little effort and the included battery lasted through the whole project on one charge. The small size lets me handle it with ease and also get into tight spots. The little oil reservoir was easy to fill with oil prior to the project and cleaning up the sawdust was easy with just a rag. Not having a cord was really convenient. Its just a really great little saw to have around for those projects where pruning shears won't do the trick but a full size chainsaw would be overkill. Very good quality from this company, and the easy availability and interchangeability of batteries gives me piece of mind.

The saw is light-weight and easy to handle. Push the button and then just hold down the grip. Because of its small size, the kickback was minimal, which is great because it is good for smaller branches that may require non-proper "chainsaw stance". I had always been afraid of chainsaws, so this little one helped me get over that fear...very easy to use. Getting the battery in the charger required a defn push. Initially, I couldnt believe that it didnt come with oil, since it only takes 1.7 oz, but after a short usage period (prob 20 min of start and stop), it had gone through half the oil...granted it was the first run, so maybe that accounts for it. Still, for the price, you'd think they could throw in some oil. I used canola from the kitchen; living in FL, cold-weather is not an issue, plus I am still locked-down, so I couldnt just run out and buy some. Anyhow, I have had good luck with Milwaukee products....I hope this continues that trend

Buy bar and chain oil, none included. Best tool for outside I've ever had! I never bought a chainsaw because I never felt I needed one. Besides I'm a little intimidated by the weight and danger surrounding them. This is perfect for my needs. Lightweight, cordless nice balance and super easy to use. I'm throwing away my bow saw. I will use this more than other tools I have. Big bonus, it's quiet!

The best small trimming saw available. Super powerful and easy to maneuver. Uses very little chain oil compared to another brand I have. Chain stays adjusted even after over 100 cuts. Battery after 50 cuts still shows full charge. Would be convenient to have a meter on the battery like some do. The safety switch to push before pulling the trigger is not the best. A better location would be great. The battery can be tough to extract at times. I sprayed mine with a silicone spray and now it is much easier. I highly recommend this well built quality saw

This is a fantastic tool. It fills a unique spot between big chainsaws-electric or gas and hand saws. For what it’s made for - pruning and cuts up to 4 or 5 inches, it’s great. Well thought out Milwaukee quality. Don’t be fooled by M12 battery power - more than enough. Remember - the sharpness of the blade is at least as important as the power of the motor. Light weight and very easy to hold and operate. Highly recommend. One quibble - wished the kit came with a little container of chain & bar oil. Don’t try the saw without it. Had to wait until I purchased some at HD. Meanwhile, I charged the battery and admired the craftsmanship of the saw.

(What's this)
Super handy tool for landscape maintenance. I'm not a pro arborist but with 22 fruit trees, landscape shrubs and small flowering trees on my property, pruning is a necessary maintenance. Although I typically prune during dormancy, I couldn't wait to try out the Milwaukee M12 Fuel 12V Lithium Cordless Hatchet on a couple of old shrubs I've been wanting to take out. A part of getting rid of large shrubs is to cut all the upward growth before removing stump. The Milwaukee Cordless Hatchet made quick work of cleaning up these shrubs. In a matter of 5-10 minutes or so I was able to cut the major upright limbs off these mangy 10ft shrubs leaving it bare stumps to be removed. I found the Hatchet to be powerful as a regular chain saw, but much easier to handle. I could reach inside the tight center of the shrub and cut 2-3 inch upright branches with ease. It would have taken the afternoon using a limb saw. The trigger is instant response which makes the variable speed valuable in achieving clean cuts. You can start the cut slower then power through the limb like slicing through butter. So for me this is now my "go to" pruner leaving my chain saw to removal jobs. You can easily over or under cut branches and the cuts are clean. The hatchet is light weight and super easy to operate - as a retired petite female I had no issues handling the tool. I actually am looking forward to winter pruning this year with the help of the Milwaukee M12 Cordless Hatchet. I highly recommend if you do any serious pruning at all around your landscape.

(What's this)
I wanted to prune dead branches out of some Spruce trees on our property and was looking for something other than a hand saw because of the amount of pruning that needed to done. So when I saw the Milwaukee M12 Fuel Hatchet 6” Pruning Saw i thought this the tool that will make this task so much easier. When I received the product I was impressed. Besides being battery operated (I love this) it is lightweight ( compared to the full size chainsaw we have), the size of the chain saw is just right. I gave the battery a full charge but had to wait to use it because it required chain saw oil, which we didn’t have prior to starting it up. Got the oil, ran it before using as suggested by owners manual and went to work. This is a nice what I’m going to call a mini chainsaw. It was easy to use, cut very well and took 30 minutes to do a job that would have taken an hour and a lot more sweat. (See pic). As a female this the perfect size and weight for pruning branches that are 3” or under is diameter. And no pull start or electric cords. I highly recommend this pruning saw.
