Product Overview

The Milwaukee M12 FUEL Compact Band Saw utilizes a POWERSTATE Brushless Motor and Constant Power Technology, making it the fastest cutting compact band saw in Unistrut with a cut capacity of 2-1/2" X 2-1/2". The M12 FUEL Compact Band Saw offers a compact design and weighs only six pounds, making it the lightest compact band saw on the market. The M12 FUEL Compact Band Saw offers integrated blade covers, making it suitable for one-handed use while offering a larger capacity than the existing M12 Sub-Compact Band Saw. The improved performance, lightweight design, one-handed capability, and increased capacity enhance user productivity while lowering their fatigue. The compact, portable band saw is equipped with Jobsite Armor Technology, a proprietary composite material to better protect it from drops and debris and crush zone barriers that absorb impacts. A variable speed trigger and an LED work light provide maximum control. An integrated rafter hook allows for easy storage in-between cuts. The M12 FUEL Compact Band Saw is also compatible with the band saw reamer attachment (49-90-2029, sold separately), which easily attaches to the back of the tool, providing users the ability to cut and ream with the same tool. One 12/14 TPI Extreme Metal Blade is included.

It's a Milwaukee. It just works!!
Makes short work of anything you need to cut in bulk. Eats up some batteries however, gets the job done with its 2.5"x2.5" cutting dimensions.

Super handy tool
I'm really impressed with how handy this tool is to have around. It's surprisingly lightweight, relatively quiet and easy to use. And because it is cordless I find myself grabbing this for multiple jobs (pretty much anything under two inches I need to cut). Also I love that it has its own bag, which makes it easier to transport. The original packaging has a hard cardboard base - I'd recommend keeping that in place to keep the saw stable in the bag and protect the blade. Note I had to cut a small section out to accommodate the blade when installed in the saw, but now it works perfectly.

Portable and Surprisingly Powerful
Milwaukee's new M12 sub-compact bandsaw (model 2529-21XC, Made in China) is great tool for smaller metal cutting jobs. The description is incorrect in that the kit comes with a soft case. It's very easy to use except for the trigger lock – it's awkward to depress with any of the fingers of the hand holding the saw. The LED light is well placed to illuminate the cutting line, and stays on for several seconds after the trigger is released. I found it very challenging to get the blade through the two sets of guides and around the wheels because of the needed “twist” of the blade; by design the blade does not stay parallel to the wheel surfaces while it is cutting. It makes actually using the saw easier – easier to see the cut, easier to guide the saw and easier on the arms during the cut. The saw does not balance on the flat battery pack so must be laid horizontal. The spring-loaded belt clip can hold the saw on the user's belt but is better suited for a rafter or some other edge since the saw is fairly heavy. I was quite surprised to see that the rotating wheels that move the blade are exposed on the back, potentially grabbing something – though it hasn't happened in use. The saw uses a different size blade than most other saws and I found it difficult to source replacements or different tooth-counts, but I suspect that will change in time. With its power, portability, battery and charger it's a great value.

Light and versatile
I used this saw during my stoop refurbishing project. It was just what I needed to cut the posts to size. The saw is nice and light so it was great to just pick up and get to work cutting the wood. LED light is a good touch but the placement of the lock mechanism in the handle took a bit of getting used to; ended up using my thumb on the left side of the handle to disengage it. Cutting ease and power was what I expected: it had no trouble cutting the wood posts. It's got variable speed based on how hard you squeeze the trigger, but I just ended up using it at full power to do the cuts lickety-split. Insertion of the blade was also very easy: loosen the tightening mechanism, disengage the compartment locks and just inserted the blade through the guides. Very good addition to my tool arsenal.

Quiet and works well
This review is for the new Milwaukee M12 Compact Bandsaw Kit, 2529-21XC. This product is one I really appreciate. It is designed for one-hand use and is small enough to fit into cramped areas like those often found inside under-sink cabinets sinks, areas behind plumbing fixtures or piping between ceiling joists. With the furnished blade and Lithium-ion M12 battery installed, it weighs a light 7 pounds. It has a 2-1/2 inch cutting opening width, good for sawing 2-1/2-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe. I've used it to cut steel, plastic and copper piping as well as aluminum door sweep weather strip materials, it working very well on all of them, providing fast and clean cuts. It has a brushless motor and is surprisingly quiet during use. This tool has an LED light that illuminates the work area upon activation for cutting. It has a flip-out hanger that I find handy while working on a ladder. Included is a tough woven fabric (zippered closure) carrying case, one M12 XC 4.0 amp-hour battery, M12 charger and easily-undrstood Operator's Manual. Included is a 5-year tool and 3-year battery limited warranty. This has become my go-to saw for cutting piping and other metal and plastic shapes that have a cross-sectional maximum dimenstion of 2-1/2 inches or less. To say the least, this is an excellent tool for active do-it your selfters as well as professionals.

I really like this tool. It includes the tool, a metal blade, charger, battery and carry bag. The trigger allows for variable speed of the blade which gives maximum cutting control. The blade is very sharp and went through the wood I was cutting very quickly and easily. I know it’s a metal blade, but I didn’t have any metal to cut. The tool has an LED light which makes it easy to see where the blade is working. The shoe is adjustable which allows for variable sized cutting material. Installing the blade is relatively easy but I would recommend using gloves as it’s sharp. The tool only weighs 6lbs which is easy to hold and use.

Milwaukee M12 FUEL 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Sub-Compact Band Saw XC Kit with One 4.0 Ah Battery, Charger and Hard (actually a soft) Case. This is a nice saw. I do a lot of projects using 1/2" EMT conduit and occasionally 3/4" and once in a while 1". I had previously cut the conduit with an abrasive chop saw, a cut off disc in a 4-1/2" grinder, or hack saw. I have also used a tubing cutter that is made for EMT, but it leaves a huge burr that requires a lot of filing or a die grinder. This cordless band saw is faster and leaves less of a mess than the other methods. I'm sure it will find other uses as well. The biggest complaint I have is that after a few whiplash injuries that resulted in loss of hand strength, I find it difficult to remove the M12 battery.

I thought I didn't have any need for a small bandsaw. After all I have both a corded and cordless large 5+ inch deep cut bandsaw. However, none of my larger bandsaws can be held with one hand - at least not for long and they certainly not the best tool for cutting overhead. The Milwaukee cordless M12 is a life changer. With the 2-1/2" cut capacity, I can cut Uni-Strut and 2 inch pipe with one hand. I was also worried that the tiny drive wheels would slip on the blade for aggressive cuts on thick iron pipe - it never happened, not even when I got the blade in a bind. The trigger variable speed response is easy to operate even with one hand. This is a well balanced tool. I love everything about this bandsaw and certainly exceed all my expectations. I appreciate the almost totally enclosed blade cover that helps protect the blade and minimize cut debris raining down when cutting overhead. Milwaukee's blade tracking system is rock solid with roller bearing on both in-feed and out-feed, and the built-in LED light is perfectly placed and bright enough to even be useful outdoors. The kit includes the charger, carrying bag and 4.0 Ah battery that keeps the cutting going through the day.

MILWAUKEE M12 FUEL 12-VOLT LITHIUM-ION CORDLESS COMPACT BAND SAW XC KIT WITH ONE 4.0 AH BATTERY, CHARGER AND BAG. This is a very nice tool. The light weight make it easy to use in small spaces. Me as a mechanic the first time I used it, I used it to cut the push rod length on a air can. This says hard case but it some with a bag. The blade that come with is made in the USA. This is a very nice saw.

Whenever I see a Milwaukee tool available to test, I have a hard time passing it over because Milwaukee is just doing a great job bringing new innovative tools to market. I try to be as objective as possible with every review I do, but Milwaukee is once again going to make me sound like a fanboy. This band saw is AWESOME! It’s just flat out easy and fun to use. There’s no better way to put it. It’s so easy to change a blade. The internals stay clean. The handle reminds me of their stubby impact drivers and wrenches, which is a good thing in my opinion. The variable speed trigger works great and the safety switch stays unlocked while your finger is on the trigger, making it possible to operate with one hand. It even lets you rest your finger on the trigger while the blade stops so you don’t have to click the safety to get it going again It’s well balanced and the guide lines up to the workpiece perfectly. The balance really makes cutting a breeze. No downward pressure required. The only possible limitation depending on your use case is its limited to 2-1/2” round and square stock and under. But it does make relatively short work of whatever it cuts. And the battery life seems to be pretty good, especially considering it’s an M12 tool. Definitely a winner in my book.
