This thing just won't give up the ghost
Customer review from milwaukeetool.com logo
After nearly six years of use this drill is still kicking. I have actually made it past the 5 year warranty period with some serious use out of this drill. I say this as I have killed numerous high end corded drills over the years and this thing replaced them. Honestly, it wasn't my first choice back in 2014 when I picked it up, but it was in stock. After realizing this thing had more than enough power, even more than some of my corded drills, I stuck with and have never looked back. I use this drill for about everything imaginable from drilling, driving and to starting small engines. While the impact does work better for sinking large fasteners Ill reach for this just as often. The drill is not without it's flaws, however, these problems are only a small nuisance and have only began to present themselves. I freely admit I'm not gentle on tools what so ever, from accidentally dropping them, to putting them through there paces without brakes...9.0 life, and forgetting them outside in the elements. The first nuisance that presented itself is that the chuck occasionally gets stuck shut resulting in the use of some channel locks to brake er free. A lil bit of lube, wd40 usually sorts this problem right out. Second, the fan literally grenaded itself out the back of this thing, but besides from running a little hotter than it already did, it's still working. Third, she likes to get stuck in gear, no problem however as long as a screw driver and hammer are present. I also don't change the gear much into low gear, which is probably the reason for it getting stuck. And believe it or not that's all. The trigger still works flawlessly along with the forward/reverse switch, and the clutch system all function. I'm still using the drill to this day and I'm honestly curious how much longer the brushes, or the drill will last.

My 3rd Fuel tool from Milwaukee. I am very happy with this drill and the price as well. The chuck/lock system is way better than the old Craftsman that I had been using before.

(What's this)
We have three different brands of drills, a Makita, a Ridgid, and now one of these Milwaukees. This one is more of a beast, it is heavier than either of the other two, and feels much larger in my hand than the Ridgid. My husbands much prefers this drill, because he is a large guy (6'4" and huge build) as he says the Ridgid feels too small and actually too light for his taste. He likes the beef to this drill. If you have small hands or need something more lightweight this is probably not the one to go with. Seems built to last, we have decade old other Milwaukee tools and they still run great.

OVERALL Very strong utility drill. Can really get into tight spaces. Drilled into stucco under the eaves of the house. Light and maneuverable with basic battery, which burns quick (good thing there are two.) SIZE: I was able to get the top of the drill closer to the top of the wall than any other drill, including my hole hawg. No issues holding the drill over my head and keeping it steady either. POWER :No issues punching through the thick (40's) stucco wall with a masonry bit either. Solid clutch delivered excellent power at lower speeds, high RPM at the other end of the spectrum as well.

Seeds Program Review
(What's this)
Milwaukee has recently come out with a new line of compact 18 volt drills and impact driver with brushless motors. The compact drill/driver is Model 2701-20, and has 500 inch-lbs torque. It weighs only 2.8 lbs and has a width of 7.1 inches. This is a significant reduction in size and weight from the full size model, which is 4 lbs and 8.6 inches wide. After using the compact drill, I am very pleased with both its performance and ergonomics. The 2701-20 Compact Drill includes a brushless motor, which provides increased tool life an power. With a 2 amp-hour batter, it feels like 12 volt tool, but has the power of a full size drill. Of course it will accept the full range of Milwaukee lithium-ion batteries, from 1.5 through 5 amp-hour batteries. It’s ideal for use in tight spaces or where fatigue is an issue from repeated use. Highly recommended!!

(What's this)
The Milwaukee 18V 1/2" Brushless Drill/Driver Kit is a great & powerful tool. It is well designed and fits well in the hand. The motor is powerful and very "torquey". It is suitable for the usual DIY projects and also for the more advanced and demanding applications that contractors have to deal with. The torque adjustment is a great feature and you can find the right setting for your application in the owner's manual. There is a selector switch for selecting the speed range (0-450 or 0-1800 RPM), and of course you can still control the speed through the trigger. Needless to mention that there is a switch to select the direction of rotation, with a center position that locks the trigger. It has a bright white LED light that goes ON when in use and switches OFF a few seconds later, which is very useful in tight spaces & dark locations. It comes with the two Compact batteries and battery life is good. There are larger M18 batteries available if needed but I prefer the two Compact batteries as that makes the tool lighter and you can always keep the spare battery charged & ready to go. The batteries come with an LED fuel gauge that shows how much charge is remaining when you press the small round button. A very useful feature. It comes with the bulky multi-voltage charger that has some great features and different indication lights for different conditions (charging, battery full, battery too hot, battery faulty etc). You will find this charger more useful when you have multiple Milwaukee M18 tools. The kit comes in the usual Milwaukee bright red heavy duty carry case that fits everything nicely. The case is also pad-lockable. I used this tool to effortlessly drive dozens of 4 inch screws in our floor joists to reduce squeaking. It is not the lightest tool though even with the compact battery so I'm not sure how long I can handle it for overhead applications! I posted some pics of the tool, the case, and also pics that show the dimensions and a comparison with my 3-year old 20V Black & Decker Matrix Drill/Driver kit. It may not be direct competition between the two but it helps you put things in perspective. The Milwaukee is stronger & "torquier" than my 20V B&D while being slightly smaller (although heavier). It also has some nice features such as the adjustable torque, speed selector, LED light, fuel gauge & carry case that are not available on my B&D. I also posted other pics of all package contents & case! Recommended!

My First and Most Used M18 Tool
Customer review from milwaukeetool.com logo
This driver was the first Milwaukee cordless tool I owned, and served a wide variety of daily tasks, well beyond it's intended purpose. I over-used one of these for 4 years as a stand in for a die grinder/grinder in work prepping steel repairs and engine work with a wire wheel. I have used this for almost every task imaginable, and when it finally died, I quicly replaced it and continue to have it as my go-to driver for use around home and when travelling. The fuel hammer drill has replaced it for more professional use, and does have more power for tougher jobs and hammer drill function, but this is a great quality product.

I liked this drill until I have been using it more
Customer review from milwaukeetool.com logo
I really liked the drill until the last month. I started building myself a workbench and have been drilling a lot more than before. I can drill only a few holes before the drill bits fall out. I am really disappointed. I have an old Milwaukee 18 volt ni-cad hammer drill that has been used for over 10 years with no issues. I had to go back to that one, even though it is too heavy for my wrist with arthritis. I am looking for a new drill, I definitelyl will not be buying another Milwaukee if they have the same issues.

Best cordless drill and battery
Customer review from milwaukeetool.com logo
I've owned this drill for over a year now and haven't had a single complaint but for my round drill bits slipping occasionally. When I purchased bits with hex shafts that problem stopped completely. The battery lasts a very long time and being able to press a button to tell how much of a charge is an added benefit. After months of non-use it still holds it's charge. My prior drill from a different manufacturer held up for years but failed miserably in the end and was far less powerful than this one. I'm a very happy owner! I've recommended it to friends and family without reservation.
