how long will the 8Ah battery power the light? What would be the run time using a 12Ah battery?

Asked by garlue November 26, 2020

I got 3 hours 40 minutes on high with the 8ah and over 14 hours on low. A 12ah battery would give you 1.5 times as long a run time.

how many hours on the highest setting will it last? 12.0?

Must have jobsite work light!
This rocket light exceeded my expectations! It generates 6000 lumens and has an option to be run on battery or extension cord which makes it so much better. It literally takes 5 seconds to set up and the set comes with an 8.0 battery and soft carrying case which does a good job of protecting the light during transport. You can also charge your phone or tablet with the built in USB port. Overall beyond happy with the design and performance!!

Well, I must say this light gets the job done! 6,000 lumens is quite bright in a poorly lit barn where I first used this tool. One of the problems we have out here on the farm from time to time are field mice and those field mice love to chew on wires. Whether it be a tractor, trailer, boat or a lawnmower. The wiring in this tractor was quite intense being a later model and therefore, this bright white light became quite useful. A lot of the wires are more than just reds, blacks and whites, they are multicolored and very small and to my surprise I didn’t need a secondary flashlight. There are a few other things I’d like to mention about this Rocket light. One being the handle. The handle feels very robust and it’s stretched far enough parallel with the main body of the light, there is no problem finding the right balance. Something else that I really like about this light is the option to plug it in. Sometimes you just don’t need a piece of equipment to run on a battery so, having the option to plug it in is fantastic. Even better yet, while plugged in direct, my light now becomes a battery charger. Now whether you are plugged into 110 or running off of M18 battery power, this light is equipped with a USB-A plug which allows me to charge my cell phone close at hand while performing my work. If those features aren’t enough, the light head itself is split into three independent pods which really Provides versatility. This Milwaukee M18 Rocket Light & Charger Combo is a huge hit and with the 8 amp hour battery, I found that I can charge my cell phone from 25% to 100% and still get over 4 1/2 hours of run time with the light on the high setting. Two thumbs up Milwaukee!

I have been a fan of the Milwaukee 18 volt lighting systems for a while. This model is as great as the rest. Twice the light as the oldest model with about the same run time. AND it comes with a built in charger AND can run on A/C. I really like being able to have 360 degree lighting. I got well over the claimed run times on High and Low settings. I got about 3 hours 40 minutes with the high setting and 14 hours and 15 minutes on the low setting. My only two real complaints about this light is that it doesn't have an A/C output so you can daisy chain lights together and the zipper on the storage bag will probably fail in about six months if you actually use it five days a week. And the price is harsh, but it does what it claims it can do, so as usual, you get what you pay for.

The Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless ROCKET LED Stand Light/Charger Kit with HIGH OUTPUT 8.0 Ah Battery Model #2136-21 is a new addition to the Milwaukee Brand. It’s a powerful lighting system that delivers up to 6,000 lumens. Out of the box this light sets up in minutes. It’s a sturdy well balanced light with two telescoping center tubes to adjust the height from 4 to 7 feet. It has three independently pivoting light heads to shine the light to meet your needs. On the control panel is the power on / off switch and the 3 light buttons. The low is for 1700 lumens, Medium for 3200 lumens and the High for 6000 lumens. Some nice features are the Integrated M18 Charger, the 2.1 Amp USB Port and a padded carry case with a heavy-duty shoulder strap. This light is ideal for multiple lighting needs and is supported by a 5 year tool and LED Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Milwakee 18 volt light stand with built-in charger at the bottom of stand. This is a very useful tool for low light or unlit areas, also great when painting to high light the area so you don't miss spots. Very easy to use, the light has adjustable tubes to raise the height and three legs for stability. The battery holder and charger are all in one, can be charged right in place, or in a Milwakee charger sold separately.

SUMMARY: AN OUTSTANDING ADDITION TO MY WORKLIGHT COLLECTION BACKGROUND: I have a small Milwaukee work light, and a Milwaukee flashlight. I wanted to get the Rocket lamp for illumination of larger areas. FIT AND FINISH: The light is built to the same durable feel as their other power tools. The included carrying case is very well made with padding, strap handles, and a heavy-duty detachable shoulder strap. FEATURES: From the Home Depot page, with my comments as appropriate. • The MILWAUKEE® M18™ ROCKET™ Tower Light/Charger Kit is designed to deliver users a lighting solution that adapts, performs, and survives to the jobsite. o This is an impressive lighting system. Much better than my previous blazing hot halogen work lights. • This light tower sets up in seconds to a max height of 7’ and collapses to less than 4’ for easy transportation and storage. o The tripod stand slides down very quickly when you release the lock lever. The light head support shaft is in two pieces that are periscoped into the base. Two friction locks allow you to extend the light assembly to any height from 4 to 7 feet in a few seconds. o I did find the tripod release required pressure on both sides to unlock. This made one-hand operation of the tripod awkward. Would love to see this as a thumb-operated lock. • The multidirectional light head allows users to orient the three independently pivoting light heads to cast light in several directions. o The light head swivels and tilts and the 3 LED arrays tilt as well allowing great adjustment of light direction. I kept two arrays pointed up to bounce off the ceiling and one pointed at the work area when painting in our hallway. This provided great indirect lighting as well as more focused lighting where our tools and supplies were located. • With an integrated AC plug, users can plug in the light with a standard extension cord and charge any M18™ REDLITHIUM™ pack or use the USB port to charge your devices on site. o This is another great thing about this light…dual-powered. We used it in both battery and AC mode with equal effectiveness. Since you can charge an M18 battery while using the light in the AC mode it is even more versatile. o As great as the charging is it would be better if there were two or three battery locations so you could get longer battery run time, or use the light as a multi-battery charging station. • TRUEVIEW™ High Definition Output provides neutral white color and produces an even beam pattern for clearer visibility o TRUEVIEW looks like a marketing slogan to me. After some research I found an article that identified the color temperature and color rendering index (CRI.) o The color temperature of the Rocket is 4000K. Other manufacturers may call this “Bright White.” 4000k is one of the default light temperatures on multi-color LED lights. o The Rocket CRI is 85. CRI describes the color accuracy of a light. The highest value, 100, is possible with pure sunlight and incandescent light sources. Light with CRI of 85 can be different depending on the LED emitter, but indicates rather good (at least for LED) color accuracy. • Delivering 6,000 lumens, it fills up large areas with TRUEVIEW™ High Definition light. For optimized control over the output and run-time, the M18™ ROCKET™ LED Light has three output settings. o This is one bright light. Painting the inside of our house with light fixtures removed the Rocket provided more light than the installed fixtured did. The 4000k light was great for identifying areas that needed touch-up painting as well. • The LEDs never need to be replaced and are backed by a limited lifetime warranty. o This is becoming the standard for LED lighting in general, but a limited lifetime warranty is a good thing. • The tower light kit includes the M18™ ROCKET™ Tower Light/Charger, (1) M18™ REDLITHIUM™ 8.0 Battery, and a Carrying Bag. o This is everything you need to light the job site except an extension cord (when needed.) • IP54 Rated: Water Resistant o I have not tried it in a damp environment, but the rating should make it safe. • Impact Resistant, Reinforced Legs o The entire unit is plain beefy. • Built in M18™ Charger & USB Port o There is a usb port on the control panel area. Handy for playing tunes or recharging the phone/tablet. • 3 Independently Pivoting Light Heads o This is one of the better features of this light over some of the others in the Milwaukee line. • Protective Guard to Secure head and lens during transport and storage o The LED arrays fold down, then lower into a plastic “cage” to further protect them from accidental damage. Very nice. • Compact footprint, Low Center of gravity o Sturdy and stable. Short of tripping over a leg or falling on it there is no way to just knock it over. Of course, dragging a power cord or air hose around it might be a problem. • Low Battery indicator o The LEDs start to flash when the battery runs low. VERY obvious, and surprising the first time it happened. • LED Limited Lifetime Warranty: LEDs never need to be replaced OPERATION: Except for the tripod release you can be up and lighting in 20 seconds. On/off/brightness controls are at waist level and easy to see. SUMMARY: One of the best lighting systems we own. My wife keeps borrowing it to use in the house, so she has her own now. PROS: Easy to set up. Easy to use. Durable. Versatile. Bright. CONS: Tripod release is a little tricky. Multiple battery option would be nice.

I just bought me this light. It should have a super charger for the 18 volts and a fast charger for the cell phones for the price. I also would have liked to see a bright white instead of the off white it has. Also the clamps that hold the post up are not adjustable to tighten so the lights does not slide down. There may be a possibility that with rain or cold weather the clamps won't hold the post tightly like you can with a bycle seat since its the same concept. This is my first tripod light and don't have nothing else to compare it too so for now I think this is an ok light. I bought a 12.0 battery for 219.00 for this light and it took forever to charge using this tower. They only had the light only no bag or battery. I paid 449.00. Im using it in the living room for now.

Milwaukee Tools keeps improving on their excellent line of cordless tools and this is another outstanding example. This is a complete kit ... self storing LED tower, 8 Ah M18 Fuel Cell, and Storage Bag. Here's a sample of some of its features: 1) Can use any of the M18 line of Red Lithium Fuel Cells 2) Excellent run times for 3 light levels ... for 8 Ah Cell, 3.5 hours @ 6,000 Lumens; 5 hours @ 3,200, and 10 hours @ 1,700. From a 5 Ah Cell, I got 2.2, 3.1, and 6.3 hours for the same Lumen levels. 3) For self-storing (Photo #1), the LEDs are protected from damage behind hard shields 4) Cell charger is built-in at the base which accepts a 120 VAC cord (Photo #4) ; the LEDs can be powered by either source 5) Control Panel (Photo #5) identifies brightness level and power source in use; there is a USB connector on the right hand side for charging/powering devices like cell phones, tablets, ... 6) Of course, an excellent warranty for both the lamp and fuel cell I would recommend this item.

Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless ROCKET LED Stand Light/Charger Kit with HIGH OUTPUT 8.0 Ah Battery review: Man, this is THE light for lighting up large areas for workshops, storage units, backyards, anywhere you need a bright set of lights to cover a large area. It is M18 battery powered and comes with an 8ah battery. I use 12ah batteries which last even longer. It has the ability to easily adjust the light level from high to medium to low. The three light heads give out a 5000K daylight balanced light - great! It is easy to release and collapse the three legs for support. It has two telescoping center tubes so you can adjust the height easily. Each of the three heads can be adjusted individually to suit your lighting needs. I first used it to light up my garage as I repaired/replaced ceiling sheet-rock - it sure made it easier as I could see everything. Next, I used it to light up our back yard. And just today to light up our large storage area where we took all our plants to survive the cold weather - we used the light to simulate daylight for the plants so they do not perish. This thing is heavy so they included two handles to make it easier to transport. Milwaukee hit another one clean out of the ballpark! Even my wife loves it! What a jewel. There ya go!

As far as I am concerned Milwaukee could have sat on the prior generation Rocket lights and probably still been the leader in lighting among the tool brands. But they didn't and they really knocked it out of the park with this new Rocket light that comes at you with a top output of 6,000 lumens. There are 3 light settings on this one with the top being the 6,000 lumens the middle option putting out 3,200 lumens, and the low setting giving you 1,700 lumens. The Rocket light kit comes with an 8Ah Battery which gives you plenty of run time with this light. At the high setting you are getting 3.5 hours of run time at 6,000 lumens. That to me is an awesome deal. The middle setting is getting you 5 hours of run time on an 8Ah battery and the low setting is giving you 10 hours of runtime on the 8ah battery. I have not tested the run time for the medium and low settings but did on the high setting and even though the light was outside in cold weather it still gave the 3.5 hours of run time. The light is really well constructed by Milwaukee and feels like it will hold up well to the worksite daily abuse. The light goes from 4' to 7' very quickly. Milwaukee claims 5 second setup time which is very accurate, my first time using it was able to get the light fully extended in about 7 seconds and now it generally takes me 5 seconds to set it up. To help prevent tip over the light legs extended out to give you a sturdy base of 27" which is nice and compact but still sturdy that you don't fear it will tip over every time it takes a hit. The Milwaukee team also gave it a low center of gravity that really assists with being hard to knock over. The Rocket Light also has very nice carry rail and handle that allows for easy one hand carry and the weight disbursement for the light makes it well balanced when carry it. The light head itself offers multi directional capabilities. The three lights on the head can be adjusted to multiple angles which helps out immensely. The light head itself also has the capability to be positioned at multiple angles. The positioning of the individual lights or light head is super easy and hold there spot well after being moved. I believe they are all friction held so they might wear down after a ton of use but think that would be a log time down the road. The light itself is hybrid so can be powered by the M18 battery or a power cord. The light comes with an 8.0 Ah battery but can easily hold the 12Ah battery if you wanted extended run time. The light is also a charger, Milwaukee made this with an integrated charger so if you do plug it in and put a battery in there you can get it charged during the day. I am not sure what time of charging time you get with this one, I think it is more likely charging at the standard charger rate . The light also has a 2.1 amp charger built into the base so you can charge your phone while you are running your light. Other pluses with this light is that it is impact resistant and IP54 rating for water and dust. The light also comes with very nice and high quality carrying bag. To be honest the bag is [probably the best bag Milwaukee has provided with their tools before. It is a well constructed canvas bag that has padding in it to help protect the light more during transport. Overall I would say if you are looking to upgrade your jobsite lighting then you must consider this light. Milwaukee has really knocked it out of the park with this. Truly a great light with some great features.
