Tough and powerful
Over the past two years this had had daily use. It has driven countless concrete screws, wood screws and even on occasion been used to drill. Extremely tough !! It's been wet, submerged in water, in the mud and dropped more times than I can count. When I kill this one I will be buying the exact same tool !

    Highest quality you can buy!
Hands down the best impact I have used in the field. Conveniently compact and light, fits on your belt or pocket. Has plenty of power for working on big gear or driving in anchors.

There is no stopping this thing, Heavy Duty!!
This impact has been used heavily in deck building home restoration projects. High power , light weight and heavy duty for professionals. I have already bought the Surge Impact Diver and love it too.

Milwaukee Fuel is the leading cordless tool brand and are furthering the technology. This impact driver is great as it has 4 custom setting from the factory that works great if you are driving self tapping screws into metal. also other great settings for people that are trigger happy when they are driving screws with threads and like to strip things out this will save you from doing that on setting 1.

Ive had this drill for a few weeks, and its absolutely amazing. Its as powerful as advertised and the self-tapping mode makes driving screws a breeze. As a sheetmetal worker it legitimately makes my job easier.

Top-rated impact driver for good reason
There are a few brands I am partial tool, and Milwaukee is one of them. I've never had one of their tools fail me in the over 2 decades I've been using them. Thus I wasn't surprised when I found that multiple online reviews of hex impact drivers put the Milwaukee M18 at the top of their list. Note that what is being sold here is the bare tool that comes with no batteries, chargers, or other accessories. That keeps the price way down if you already have batteries. If you haven't used an impact driver before, these are very nice for their driving strength (how large a screw or lag bolt they can drive for their size and without putting too much twist on your arms--I've had powerful 1/2 drill/drivers try to twist out of my hands before). They are also short and small compared to drills, allowing you to fit them into places a drill wouldn't fit. This driver has 4 drive control modes which are selected with a button and indicated by white LEDs (rather than the red LEDs used for battery strength). Mode 1 is 0-850 RPM and only 200 in-lbs for precision driving. Mode 2 is 0-2,100 RPM and 700 in-lbs, and appears to be designed for driving lag-bolts or similar things without breaking them. Mode 3 is 0-3000 RPM and 1,800 in-lbs for fast driving when you aren't worried about damaging the fastener. The final mode is designed specially for self-tapping screws (presumably sheet metal): it starts slow to prevent tip walking, speeds up to 3000 RPM for fast driving, and then slows down to 750 RPM as it loads up to reduce stripping or breaking. (Unfortunately I don't have any projects for sheet-metal screws right now, so I didn't get a chance to test this mode in real use.) Milwaukee builds these tools to last. You can go to the Milwaukee website to read more details (brushless motor designs, battery packs that take many more charges than the competition, electronics to prevent overload damage, etc.). I will simply highlight that these tools come with 5-year warranties (3 years on batteries--but there are no batteries in this package), along with the fact there are no vent holes on the back of the head so you can press there with your hand to keep your bit in a screw without worrying about overheating the motor because your are blocking cooling. My only minor gripe with this tool (and other M18 tools I've used) is that when gripping the tool, the direction button falls under the side of my finger instead of a knuckle, which makes it hard move the switch from off to forward with my finger gripping the trigger. (Other brands of tools I've used have this switch falling under a knuckle to they are easier to turn on.) After time I'm getting used to removing my finger from the trigger and sliding it back to turn it on, but I'd still like the button a little farther forward. This tool does include an LED light that stays on for 10 seconds after you release the trigger which is a feature I quickly grew to like (unlike some older tools where the light goes off as soon as you release the trigger). So the bottom line is if you are looking for an impact driver in this size and weight class, I would strongly recommend checking this one out.

          Great Tool
This is a great impact driver – definitely the most sophisticated I’ve used. It has all the standard features you’ve come to expect in quality tools like an LED light, battery indicator, belt clip & bit holder, but what really sets it apart is the power it packs and the four preset output modes, including a self-tapping screw mode. The battery life when used with a standard M18 battery is excellent – I’ve used it for extended periods of time driving screws and hanging cement board and the battery indicator has never even dipped below two bars. The tool has a good balance to it and is a good size and weight. Overall, a top notch product – I think you’d be hard pressed to find a better impact driver on the market!

          Very Powerful for its Size
Awesome and powerful impact driver. The gun itself is a very manageable size and easy to maneuver. The battery seemed kind of big for the size of the gun but i rather have a battery that lasts longer. Has a LED light for better vision. Has a belt holder which is great for climbing ladders. Also has a spot to hold different heads. I wish it had a magnet somewhere to hold screws. Has easy to use buttons for power and settings. Does not come with battery but works with all M18 batteries,

          My fifth impact driver
I equate impact drivers to the Internet and cell phones, how did we survive before them? I now own five 1/4" impact drivers in assorted makes and models. This latest model from Milwaukee is by far the most sophisticated of the lot. Like most others on the market this one includes a belt clip and LED work light. Features that are new to me include a series of four indicator lights that show the charge remaining in the battery. If you're familiar with LI batteries you'll know that unlike NiCads they don't lose power as the battery drains, they just suddenly quit. (See #4 below). The trigger allows for varying speeds but there's also a selector to preset four speed ranges. 0-850 RPM in Mode 1, 0-2100 RPM in Mode 2 and 0-3000 RPM in Mode 3. Self-Tapping Screw Mode is designed to reduce walking when starting self-tapping screws as well as reduce overdriving, breaking and stripping out screws. You can use any of Milwaukee's M18 Red Lithium batteries, I prefer the 4.0Ah. I won't buy anything that comes with NiCad batteries anymore, lithium-ion is the only way to go, they are far superior. I've read many negative reviews relating to battery operated tools and almost all of them refer to poor battery performance. I think the biggest problem is that users are treating their lithium-ion batteries as they were taught to care for their NiCad batteries. They're two different animals and need to be cared for differently. I found the following use and care tips on the Internet. 1: Keep your batteries at room temperature. That means between 68 and 77 degrees F. The worst thing that can happen to a lithium-ion battery is to have a full charge and be subjected to elevated temperatures. So don't leave your battery in your car if it's hot out. Heat is by far the largest factor when it comes to reducing lithium-ion battery life. 2: Avoid charging a hot battery. Whether from heavy usage or hot storage it's best to allow the battery to cool down before attempting to charge it. I normally try to cycle three batteries during the work day. One in the tool, one cooling down and one on the charger. 3: Allow partial discharges and avoid full ones (usually). We were taught to run our NiCads all the way down before giving them a full charge. With lithium-ions it's better to recharge before the battery is exhausted and partial charges are no problem since these don't have a memory. 4: Avoid completely discharging lithium-ion batteries. It's time to cool down and then recharge them when you detect the battery is providing less than optimal performance. 5: For extended storage, discharge a lithium-ion battery to about 40 - 50 percent and store it in a cool place. Storing a battery in the discharged state can push it to the point where it won't recharge, and storing a battery fully charged can shorten its life. I have many lithium-ion powered tools and other devices and as of yet I haven't been disappointed with battery performance. I attribute this to proper care. These Milwaukee tools are very well made and will take a beating, trust me, I know from experience. They also include a 5 year warranty on the tool and 3 years on the battery.

          Fastest impact in the market
This impact is very fast. I use mine for work where other guys have different brand impacts. We are usually driving in 1,000 plus 3 1/2 SDS screws each and I always finish first. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it does over heat very quickly. Sometimes faster than the other brand impacts. I usually let it rest for a few minutes and then it’s back to business.
