OK, so I haven't used a chop saw in 20 years. The last one I used was in college to build an engineering project. However, I have wanted one ever since. Cutting pipe with a hack saw, angle grinder, or sawzall is a joke compared to this awesome power tool. Cuts are fast and square. The battery power is strong, it gets up to speed quickly and melts the pipe like butter. Make sure to keep water nearby to cool things off with. The battery on this thing seems like a mini nuclear reactor. The only problem I had using it on other Milwaukee power tools was my drill. I had to remove the belt hanger to get it to fit. Cordless is a lot more expensive than the plug in versions. But so is the doctor bill from tripping over cords. I received this MILWAUKEE M18 FUEL 18-VOLT LITHIUM-ION BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 14 IN. ABRASIVE CUT-OFF SAW KIT WITH ONE 12.0AH BATTERY for free to write this review.

This changes things. I can easily take this saw from one area to the next and start making cuts immediately. There’s no need to look for a drop cord, deal with a bad drop cord, trip over a drop cord or deal with a generator. It’s more convenient and safer. Just show up and start cutting. It’s heavy, but it needs to be. You can work with a lightweight saw and cut material like this one can. That weight helps to keep it in place and adds to its strength and durability. It spins up quickly and stops even faster with its braking system called RAPIDSTOP. That makes it a lot safer. This kit comes with the monster sized 12.0Ah battery, because the saw is a beast and a Rapid Charger to keep it running. It has the same power as a 15a corded saw. That’s impressive. This saw just looks powerful and it doesn’t disappoint. I especially like the tool less blade change. There’s no tool to keep up with or lose. The vise is solid and easy to adjust for perfect cuts. You can even make angle cuts with it. You can adjust the depth of cut to keep the cut-off wheel from touching the base. The cutting head can be locked down into place for carrying or storage. It also has an overload indicator light, for those that have trouble letting the tool do the work. It lights up when you’re pushing too hard. The speed of the saw is 4000RPM, it uses a 14” 3/32” cutting disc that has a 1” arbor hole and a wheel thickness of 3/32”. Maximum capacities at 90 are 4-1/2”x5-1/8” rectangular stock, 4-11/16”x4-11/16”square tubing and 5” O.D. pipe. It’s a beast, but it’s smooth and a joy to use. Read the owner’s manual and enjoy!

Milwaukee Tools has come out with a beast (in a good way) of a cut-off saw. The M18 Fuel is cordless and portable at ~ 40 lbs runs off a high performance HD12.0 battery that is long lasting between charges. Uses a 14" diameter wheel/blade (not included) with 1" arbor. At 4000 RPM it can cut through 5" steel, iron or aluminum. Has an adjustable fence and 45 degree max miter capacity. Safety features include a auto slide blade guard and 3 second brake. Kit comes with a M18 rapid charger.

If you work with metal, you need the Milwaukee Cordless Abrasive Cut-Off Saw Kit. I’ve never had a cut-off saw before and didn’t know what I was missing. The Milwaukee Cordless cut-off saw is so portable and easy to set up. When moving the saw, just push down on the handle and push in on the “Head Lock Down Pin” and check to make sure the saw is locked in the down position. Next, grab the carry handle and proceed to your work site. The is saw is well balanced and easy to carry. For my first use of the cut-off saw, I set the saw on a small wooden bench outside of the garage. I had some old tube and angle iron I wanted to salvage. This was first my first use of a cut-off saw. The saw does not come with a cut-off blade and the manual states to only use a 3/32 thick blade from Milwaukee. When I went to Home Depot to get a blade, I could only find a 7/64-inch-thick, 14 inch diameter abrasive blade made by Diablo, so that is what I used for my first use of the saw. The blade is easily installed by removing the outer flange and large blade clamp. I placed the blade with a 1-inch arbor on the spindle and replaced the outer flange and tightened the blade clamp. For safety equipment I had safety glasses, a face shield, ear muffs and leather gloves. I clamped a piece of thin wall tubing against fence of the saw and cut off the crooked end of a piece of thin wall tubing. The guard on the saw did a great job of catching the sparks from the abrasive saw blade. The saw cut through the tubing like a champ. The cut looked square, but I wanted to check the saw using a square. On the back of the clamp there is a chrome embossed plate marked at 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees (zoom in on the 1st attached picture ). These numbers are the number of degrees from a square 90-degree cut-off. I pulled the battery and with the clamp set at 0 degrees (perfect 90 deg cut) I used a square to check the angle between the flat of the blade and fence. It was 90 degrees, great. I also checked the cut on the tubing it was also 90 degrees, so the saw was all set up. I also wanted to salvage some angle iron from some old bed frames. The angle iron was 1/8 inch thick. It was no problem for the saw to cut the bed frame angle. When I was cutting the flat portion of the angle I noticed that overload indicator light came on, so I backed off on the pressure I was apply on the handle and it went off. The overload indicator light coaches the user into the optimal cutting speed. The RAPID STOP blade brake worked great and stopped the blade every time in 3 seconds. With the 12 Ah battery and quick charger I will be able to cut metal for my projects all day long. I recommend this Cut-off saw to a Professional metal worker or a DYI type individual. Milwaukee has another winner in their group of M18 battery powered tools.

          Not Recommending
I bought this saw to cut up to 1/4" steel. I had to go through 2 batteries to cut a 4" steel pipe. I waited tor the Forge battery to come out to see if that would make any difference, no luck there, neither. I decided to return the saw and buy a corded one.

Looks cool in red but doesn’t work well.
Well, this saw is fine if you plan to cut plastic or foil. Will absolutely not cut 1/2 bar stock or even modest tubing. I messaged milwaukee 3 times about this saw over about 3 weeks and got zero reply. As a milwaukee fan boy, this hurt my feelings quite a lot.

Gutless even with the large batteries. This is first Milwaukee tool I’ve purchased that didn’t perform well.
