M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 7 in. Variable Speed Polisher Kit W/ (2) 5.0Ah Battery & Charger

M18 FUEL™ 7” Variable Speed Polisher Kit is an improvement over corded polishers. The kit is tool only, no batteries, charger or bonnets. It does comes with a 7-inch backing pad for bonnets, two different style handles, an extra dust screen, pad centering tool and allen wrench for attaching the D handle.. The backing pad can accept both hook & loop pads and tie in the back bonnets. The D handle can be set for either left or right hand use and has four handle positions to angle it that are locked in with the attachment bolts. The other handle is a straight screw on standard type. I used my M18 5Ah battery pack from another tool and it was enough to finish the job. The advantage with this tool obviously is it eliminates the cord that can make work more difficult. You are always adjusting the cord over your shoulder and trying to keep it off the car. Dragging the cord around as you are stretching to do the car roof can be tiring and it picks up dirt and dust from the floor which can end up scratching the finish, if not careful. The polisher's weight is more on the pad end from the motor and gears that keeps it over the spot you are buffing. All that is needed is a light touch in many instances with a good bonnet and the work is done in selecting the correct speed. You do have to be aware of the battery pack not let it touch the paint finish as you work. I found myself resting my hand under it at times as I moved the polisher around to be safe. The tool's speed is variable and can be slowed down to apply compound or sped up for finishing. The tool comes with a paddle switch and a lock so you don't need to keep your fingers on it and releases with a slight tap on the trigger.. This is a good idea as it can get tiring keeping your hand on the trigger. For some reason because of how its balanced, it does seem easier to use so you can keep going and that makes it go faster. A extra feature is a filter screen for the air exhaust on the side of the unit. This keeps dust and pad fibers out, can be cleaned easily and will extend the motor's life. Milwaukee has made the polisher cordless with plenty of power and added convenience. Some will want an orbital polisher, but for speed with experience this does the job. The cord polisher is now being replaced with the advent of more powerful batteries, it's just a makes sense.

This is an all-around great kit if you're looking for a polisher. It comes with 2 of the M18 XC5.0 batteries. These are the slightly larger ones so it adds a little weight but holds much more charge. It also has the rapid charger to charge faster and it also charges the M12 batteries as well. There are 2 different handles you can attach: the bail handle and the side handle which can be mounted on either side. It also comes with an extra removable debris screen. It runs very smooth and not very loud - you definitely don't need ear plugs. There is a button for locking it on or off. It has a good heft to it, but its not too heavy that you would tire out quickly using it. The speed can be varied from 800-2200 rpm in increments of 200. So far I've only used this on some granite countertops. I found it easy to use and it runs very smoothly. I'm very happy with this and would definitely recommend it.

Admittedly, I've never really been one to keep the finish on my vehicles maintained to the extent that they should be, but with the freedom from an extension cord that this great new Milwaukee polisher provides, I now have absolutely no excuse. I gave my wife's Mustang a full polish this weekend with it, and it was a joy to use. With her finish being in pretty good shape, one full battery was enough to give it a nice shine. When I get to doing my neglected truck, I'm sure I'll be glad to have the 2nd battery. The charger included is Milwaukee's new Rapid Charger, which charges 30-40% faster than the standard one, depending on battery model, so getting through even the largest buffing job should be no problem. Kit includes tool, two 5.0 M18 batteries and rapid charger. The backing pad is also included, but you will need to provide buffing pad / bonnet and compound.

The polisher kit comes with everything except bonnets. Some assembly required, but is fairly easy. Each battery holds about a 20-minute charge, plenty of time to allow the extra battery to charge while in use. The polisher has a variable RPM setting that you can preset prior to use. Each stage of buffing/polishing has recommended RPM's for the surface/finish/compound that you are using. This takes the guess-work as far as the right RPM for the job. The polisher is fairly powerful and does not tend to lose too much RPM when applying pressure. the kit also includes a second venting screen should this become clogged with waste during operation. Very nice set.

Great tool, using on my boat and my vehicles. Battery life is ok. you need at least two batteries. I want to use the tool to do some "rubbing", need to take out a few minor scratches on the boat. When using rubbing compound I am not comfortable using the 7" dia plate. Can I purchase a smaller diameter Hook and Loop backing plate?

If I would have known that the batteries that came with in the bundle only would last 20-30 minutes I wouldn’t have got the bundle and would have purchased the better batteries separately. The bundle is a HUGE waste of money and I’m super upset.

Batteries run out of charge real quick

Sold. Everything promised delivered. I've been buffing yachts for 25 years no cord, and good power. I thought I may need more batteries, nope. This kit is perfect. Already paid for itself.

So far so good, i use it to buff and polish small paint repairs in a boatyard, sometimes at the dock, it saves me tons of time laying out and rolling up cords for a small job, it is actually more powerful at 2200 rpm than i expected, feels good to hold, i love it!

I purchased this buffer in May of 2016 and I use it almost daily for work. For years I have bought the corded dewalt prior to giving this a try, I was lucky to get a year out of a dewalt before it would die. The Milwaukee buffer takes a frequent beating and hasn’t skipped a beat. Admittedly the battery life doesn’t last for all day work but just buy extra batteries. For some of people saying it’s a bit heavy... suck it up! If a fifty something year old woman can swing this all day then I think you can handle it.
