High Output
Watch u-tube, there are plenty of reputable companies doing reviews on these batteries and tools. VCG Construction is one of them, Torque Test was another I watched before buying my 3/8" Milwaukee Impact. I have personally not used this battery enough to elaborate but like I stated, there is more than enough reputable companies and reviewers putting these tools and batteries through their paces and you can judge for yourself.

Poor physical size design
I wish they still made the 9.0 battery’s. The 9.0 was more compact and fit in my pack out much better than the 8.0 battery. Size size it sucks. Wish they would bring the 9.0 back or make this battery More narrow and short

Cannot say enough about great this product is. Milwaukee not only stands by their product but they also believe in it. Ive got a small army of Milwaukee Tools, both 18v and regular hand tools from drywall saws to tape measures. I can say that they are worth the extra money. These batteries last forever, Ive got 3 now because how awesome they are. They cost a lot, sure but I get literally twice if not three time the life. They may weigh a pound extra but Id rather pick up the pound and get 4 more hours.

I'll tell you right away that I'm a huge fan of the M18 system. I have been very happy with the system for a variety of tools I have. This is my first very large battery, and high output type. I plan to use it with future high demand tools (maybe a leaf blower), but for now it serves well for my existing tools, although it is a bit heavier.
My go-to battery is the XC5.0, which is light enough and has enough juice for drivers, drills and hand saws. The XC8.0 fits them just fine, but adds a bit of weight. The attached photo shows the difference in size between a CP2.0, XC5.0 and this XC8.0 if you want a reference.
Here are also some measured weights of the batteries:
- XC8.0: 2.4 lb (this product)
- XC5.0: 1.6 lb
- CP2.0: 1.0 lb
I was using the XC8.0 on my little hand vac and after 20 minutes, it didn't lose an LED of charge, although it did accept more charge. Compare that to the CP2.0 which is almost exhausted.
The trade off is simple: weight. This fits the bill for larger stationary tools, two hand tools or power hungry tools like a blower. In my case, it is my back up for now. If I lose power on any other battery, this will fill in while the other recharges.
Speaking of recharging, I am using the standard charger. Works fine, but takes quite a few hours for a full charge. Not a problem if you have backup.

This review is for the M18 8.0 a/h battery, model # 48-11-1880. The 1880 is one of Milwaukee's new "High Output" series of lithium batteries. Compared to the standard XC series they're supposed to give 50% more power and run cooler.
There's a 'fuel gauge' that shows the amount of charge (see photo below). The battery came with a minimal charge, so plan on charging it before use. No charger is included in this package, just a single battery.
One of the hallmarks of the M18 battery line is that there's no performance degradation as the battery runs low on power - it simple reaches the end of its charge and shuts off. Checking the fuel gauge occasionally can keep you apprised of the amount of work time left before a battery swap will be required. When the last light lit is flashing, you're down to less than 10% remaining power.
I have an M18 6.0 a/h "High Output" battery as well as this new model 1880. In a side by side weight comparison the 6.0 a/h unit is 2 pounds, 6.5 ounces while the new 8.0 a/h unit comes in at 2 pounds, 6.4 ounces (as measured on my wife's kitchen food scale; YMMV). More power packed into the same sized package. (See the photo below).
I'm a homeowner / DIY'er, not a professional, so I can't give a detailed account of how the new 8.0 a/h battery would work in a full day of drilling holes through rafters or some such. It’s difficult to review batteries without performing a full set of benchmark tests, under precise conditions – which, as a DIY’er, I’m not set up to do. I can say that on an M18 angle grinder (model 2980-20) it performs wonderfully. Milwaukee’s new line of ‘high output’ batteries really is a step forward in battery design, I think, rather than just an advertising claim.
There’s a 3-year warranty on the battery and, of course, Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy.

The Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion HIGH OUTPUT XC 8.0Ah Battery seems a step up from my M18 18-volt 9.0Ah HD (High Demand) batteries. A few ounces lighter and 20% smaller, it carries my Milwaukee M18V tool loads for the same continuous duration, while offering M18 portable power in a lighter, smaller package!
With the standard Milwaukee charger, this 8.0Ah HD battery also provides shorter recharge times than the 9.0...Nice. Overall, All of my M18 Lithium-Ion batteries (XC, HD, HO in 5.0-6.0-9.0-12.0) still perform flawlessly!!

This 18 volt lithium- ion high output battery is another great product by Milwaukee. It fits over 175 M18 tools, which I have several of,from light demand to heavy demand. It has fifty percent more power and runs cooler than M18 Redlithium XC battery packs.It is surprisingly heavy for it's size so I imagine that it will be very durable. I have used it on a few tools already and it works great. It is expensive but the price is fair for the quality. It has a three year warranty.

This M18 18-Volt HIGH OUTPUT XC 8.0 Ah Battery is a great addition to my M18 tools. I have been extremely happy with all of my Milwaukee M18 tools. I have two XC 5.0 Ah and two XC 6.0 Ah batteries, and needed one with a bit more run-time. I haven’t yet had any projects that would use enough power to run it down, so I can’t say just how much better it is, but Milwaukee claims that this one provides 60% more run-time than an M18 XC 5.0 battery, so this is a welcome addition for those jobs that require more power and longer use of some tools. Though I didn’t time it, the first-time full charged pretty quickly (less than 1 hr.) using the Rapid Charger. This XC 8.0 is very close to the same size and weight of the XC 6.0, so I don’t even notice any difference in handling. While some other manufacturers are going to higher voltages, Milwaukee just keeps making the M18 batteries better, without the need for more voltage, plus we don’t have to replace our tools. These work with the entire line of over 175 M18 tools. Gotta love it.
