will this cut thru weeds and brush

Yes. It will cut thru weeds and brush up to 1/2 inch. The trimmer is not intended for brush but will cut. It is a beast.

I have the M18 trimmer I want to get this attachment for it so will this help cut thru brush

I have the wedge trimmer attachment and have used it quite a bit. I do use it sometimes for cutting light brush. But it needs to be swung slower than a regular trimmer with a cutting disc blade. You need to work a bit slower and with more thought when using it. Bare in mind it's a clipper bar and the weeds needs to get in between the cutting teeth to be cut. Once you slow down it does a fine job. This tool is a bit awkward to use without a strap and honesty the strap that comes with it doesn't work very well. After I used it a while I purchased an inexpensive brush cutter harness and that improved ease of handling substantially. The main purpose of this tool is for cutting hedges of course and for that it shines. Personally I wouldn't want to be without my regular length M18 hedge clipper OR this M18 hedge clipper attachment.

How big is the wheel on Milwaukee M18 Fuel Edger attachment?

Answer

About a 3" plastic wheel that can be adjusted in height.

Can you put string on the edger attachment and not just a blade only?

I would say no. I bought both the string trimmer and edger. I don't see any way to convert the edger to anything other than the intended use.

I think mine came with the 8.0 battery but I'm not sure. I have both batteries and I'm not sure which one came with which tool. Either one will work of course.

Why do you NOT sell the Milwaukee QuikLok Hedge trimmer in store. I need one today. I hate that you make it so fn hard.

I was also disappointed that I couldn't find in any stores. This very nearly caused me to buy a different brand. Fortunately the tool arrived more quickly than expected, so I'm over it now. But I am there with you in wondering why it's not available in the stores.

What size hole is in the trimmer blade? Is it held on by a bolt or a nut?

Asked by Al July 7, 2020

Answer

The blade is held by a blade nut that requires a 13mm socket wrench to remove.

Very impressed. A must-have attachment!
Absolutely impressed with this attachment for the Quik-lok system. It made quick work of the hedges I needed to sculpt and was supremely easy to operate and reach extremely tall bushes I normally would need to get a ladder for. I had a ton of fun achieving high-end finished looks on my property without having to pay an arm and leg for it. Highly reccommend!

I had two issues with this hedge trimmer: First, the power head doesn't have the power to take advantage of the 1" cut capacity. It bogs down in heavy grass, and stalls on dead branches (although does better on green branches). The second issue is that the provided strap is garbage. I'm pretty tall, but if I adjust it all the way out the trimmer would be hanging at the ground. As a result, most of the strap is doubled back, which makes adjustments difficult. Additionally, the strap webbing falls to the side of the thin metal rectangular loop where it doubles back, which pulls that metal loop out of alignment and then it just falls off. Much cussing ensued each time it happened, and I replaced it with an ego strap.

Great product. Plug in a battery and go. This particular attachment uses less battery life than the string line attachment. The trimmer cuts up 1" so, it gets all of my heavier bushes. The blade articulates easily so, you can adjust the blade to your position.

Super nice trimmer, it's so nice to reach the top of bushes without being on a ladder. The multi position head makes it easy to trim from any angle. It cuts though 1/2in branches with ease. I even used this to trim up smaller branches on trees that were hanging down to low. Only down side would be that it could get heavy, it gives your arms a workout.

(What's this)
I primarily wanted this for trimming some tall shrubs but found that having the long trimmer makes trimming low but wide shrubs easier too. I don't need to climb between the shrubs to get to the back parts that are hard to reach with a normal length hand held trimmer. The articulating arm makes it easy to trimm the backs as well as trimming the tops of tall hedges. Pulling back on the collar releases a pin and you can rotate the trimmer head by hand. When it's in the position you want releasing the collar slides the pin back into one of the sockets to lock the head in place. Very easy to operate even with gloves on. The QUICK-LOK attachment system on the M18 power head is also easy to use and provides a secure connection. It has a good length that makes it easy to reach high shrubs. It's not very heavy but the length makes it feel heavier. Using the regular handle on the trimmer head feels a little awkward. Grabbing the trimmer by the rubber grip gives better control. Good cutting power and good reach. The Milwaukee M18 power head provides plenty of power for attachments like this.

(What's this)
This is a must have attachment if you are in the Quik-Lok system. The hedge trimmer has a cutting capacity of 1 inch which basically allows you to trim up any hedges. I have tall (8 foot plus) privacy hedges and this thing made trimming them super easy. No need for a ladder and it could easily trim down the hedge. The blade length on this thing is 20 inches so that makes trimming very quick. Additionally, when attached to the power base the length you get is 5 feet so can really get those tops of the privacy hedges. The weight of the attachment is about 6lbs so with the power base you are carry some weight around but Milwaukee provided a padded strap to help with that. The blade itself comes with a tip guard to help protect the blade from any damage. The blade head can rotate 270 degrees and has 13 cutting positions and folds up nicely for storage. The unit also comes with a nice blade cover that fits securely on the blade head. The changing of positions is super easy also with the simple pull down of the collar and moving of the head. Along with the strap you also have a padded grip for additional comfort while carry the hedge trimmer. The unit is also very efficient not really draining the 9AH battery i was using when i trimmed two standard hedges and a privacy hedge that is 40 feet long and around 8 to 9 feet tall. I would definitely recommend the quik-lok system not only to your lawn care professional but also to your diyer homeowner that is looking to get quality tools.

(What's this)
I have really enjoyed the new Milwaukee Quik-Loc trimmer with it's powerful engine, long running Fuel battery and the Quick-Loc system that makes it easy to make the base tool into several tools.Since then I have been adding accessories for my home. I really like the Hedge trimmer attachment. It is very well constructed using high quality parts. It has a sturdy pole with a padded grip that that quickly and effortlessly locks into the base unit giving you about an 8 foot total reach. The machine feels very sturdy yet balanced in my hands. The blades are large and sharp which cut easily though my forsythias. I really like the simple pull lever system which allows you to change the angle of the blade depending on your needs. It also allows the tool to fold up which reduces the area needed for storage. Great addition to my home yard power tool collection and another great Milwaukee tool.

(What's this)
CORDLESS; EASY-TO-USE; QUIET — The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 8 in. Edger Attachment for Milwaukee QUIK-LOK Attachment System is a pleasure to use for edging. Our previous edger was electric which meant we had to string extension cords, and not just any extension cords but 12/2 extension cords to keep the unit from overheating. Since the motor of this edger is in the base unit, the edger itself is lightweight. It has a blade ridge and slots in the mud flaps to help align the blade next to the solid edge. It may take a little practice to get a uniformly clean edge. The depth of the cut is easily adjustable by changing the height of the trailing wheel. Since the edger is open on one side, it is easy to clean after use. This attachment includes a scrench for changing the blade but the holding pin is included with the base unit rather than this attachment.
