I love the fact that Milwaukee M18 Fuel is a full line of tools that use the same batteries and charger. This brushless hammer drill is excellent. I love the size and handle grip. The hard case that holds everything is a very hard plastic and is quite rugged.
Inside the case is:
(1) M18 FUEL 1/2" Hammer Drill Driver (2804-20),
(2) M18 REDLITHIUM XC5.0 Battery,
(1) M18 & M12 Multi-Voltage Charger,
(1) Side Handle,
(1) Belt Clip,
(1) Bit Holder,
The extra side handle, for holding the drill better in tough concrete situations, goes on easy and does not slip. The torque selector rotates with ease and the lock-in is obvious. The two speeds help a little for high speed drilling. Tightening the keyless chuck is solid and does not slip or turn motor. I also like the battery charge-level indicator on the battery. With the Lithium Ion batteries and the POWERSTATE Brushless Motor it is, according to the description, “the industry’s most powerful brushless battery powered drill, delivering up to 60% more power”.

Sleek and beautiful are usually reserved for super models and luxury cars. But the M18 Milwaukee hammer drill is all that and more. Well balanced and compact in size but has more power than my former drill, a competing pro tool.
I am a heavy-use DIY’er, not a contractor, but I can understand why these models are popular with pros! It is smaller than my previous pro-tool, and smaller than all of my DIY tools (see comparison photos). It’s about the same size as a new brushless lime-green drill, but the balance just feels better. I weighed it: both this and my other DIY drill are 3.5 pounds, but there’s no question that the Milwaukee feels better and is easier to control. Before this drill, I didn’t know how important the balance and feel of a drill could be!
My application was to install a lot of #4 screws for a piano hinge, not too hard, but repetitive and certainly helps to have good balance. The other application was drilling into a 4” board - this went right through it (see video). I’ll definitely recommend this drill to my friends!

The trifecta of drills. A combination of hammer, driver and drill all in one tool. It has a light, an adjustable clutch with 14 settings for driving, a drill setting, and a hammer setting on an easy to use rotary dial behind the chuck. And the chuck is all metal and easy to grip. No bits are included, so don't forget those if you plan to use it as a driver. The add on handle is quick to install and locks into detents on the body so it can't spin on you. And of course the motor is brushless and has two speeds easily adjustable at the top. I do still think that brushes give you a bit more control for driving screws, as the brushless models engage at higher speeds too quickly. You can adjust to it, but it takes time and practice and may cause you to 'screw up' your first projects when it slips out of the bit while applying pressure. And you can't beat the fact it comes with two 5.0AH batteries for long use projects or at the jobsite.
