What is Custom alloy 76 steel?

Asked by Marc September 9, 2015

Answers

Marc, Custom Alloy 76 steel is obviously some kind of special alloy developed by Milwaukee for allowing them to make small diameter driver bits that can handle the torque of power tools without twisting in half. I would suspect the actual details of the alloy are considered a trade secret by Milwaukee. Suffice it to say, these bits are strong and should last a long time in heavy use.

No, it will not work with the collated attachment. The collated attachment has it's own bits, part # 48-30-1000. It is a 5 pack of bits for the collated attachment.

will these bits fit in a bosch SG450AF collated screw gun.

This was great until after about a month. This bit bent after regular use. Wasn't anything crazy either, just used during a basement remodel. Reached out to Milwaukee for a replacement, they would not replace. Said Shockwave bits are not covered under warranty. Only Matrix Carbide bits are covered. I will not buy Milwaukee in the future..

Worked great for a few months...
Im a DIY’er and dont use my tools on a regular basis. The bit was great for the light to medium use I put it through. Then I used it on a normal general purpose gold screw and the phillips head broke. I used it in both my impact and normal drill. It broke while in use woth my impact driver drill

Purchased along with M12 impact driver to support recent move - did exactly what was needed and keeps going, no corner or edge rounding on bit after heavy use so far and if that happens after more time won’t think twice to grab another.
