These clips are made maybe to be used if your clothes line is a piece of wire. Normal clips have a hole above where the pins clamp onto the clothes where the clothes line slips through these do not. Look closely at the photo and you will see there is only a small gap not a hole for the clothes line to pass through. In other words if you were to hang clothes with these clips the clip has to be pressing against both the clothes and the clothes line they cannot and do not hang from the line with the grips just gripping the clothes.
As a side note I drilled out the normal clothespins hole by using a drill with the drill bit in the gap where the hole should be and squeezing down on the grips and now they are fine.
