Miracle-Gro potting mix keeps my plants growing nicely. The bag contains a mix of sphagnum peat moss, coir, perlite and fertilizer. I like the weight and texture - this product is light and fluffy, which is just right for growing plants indoors in a pot. The mix also contains fertilizer, enough to keep my plant feed for about 6 months. Only quibble is the bag doesn’t reseal.

Holds moisture and infested with fungus gnats
I’ve tried several different types of Miracle Gro potting mix, including this one. Regardless of how seldom I water my plants, the soil holds moisture to the point that mold forms and I get fungus gnats. I use filtered water and still no difference. I keep repotting my beautiful plant babies, only to experience the same thing. I’ve used insecticide soap and Bonide on the plants and soil consistently. Repotting hasn’t helped. I wonder if the fungus gnats are in the soil.

Not happy with current purchase.
I have nothing but house plants so I only purchase miracle grow indoor formula as I have for years. But this last batch is really disappointing, I needed to top off and repot some plants. It looks and works totally different from past result's. In the past the soil was rich a little heavier and darker in color almost black in color, like miracle grow potting soil I purchased in the past. I'm not sure if this was reformulated but this last bag I purchased is awful . It's more of a brown hue, dried out dust, it reminds me of shredded coconut exterior, very strange mix , I've had a mix similar to this when I had tropical plants that needed well draining soil, but I no longer need that type of soil because my other plants like moist soil, this house plant formula no longer works for my plants as it gets dried out within a day or so. Unfortunately the plants that I reported died. Never had that happen with miracle grow indoor formula, never purchasing indoor formula again.

I am in shock. For fun I took some old cherry tomatoes and bell pepper seeds and plated it. It started sprouting. I don't know what kind of junk is in the potting mix, I know some folks that would never buy this brand, but it works and I will keep buying.

I recently purchased new indoor plants. What I have found out from using this plant mix is that yes is drains completely well but sometimes I do find that around plants . But I'm assuming that could be natural. Besides that I don't have any problem. I did see a little bit of fungus growing on top of the mix On one of my plants. But again I'm assuming that's normal time to get back to my Google & YouTube and find out. (those are the new encyclopedias these days)

6 bags all infested
I bought 6 bags of this kind because it said that it would prevent gnats and fungus. Well in 1 short week my house was infested with gnats and the plants had mushrooms..Yes full grown mushrooms coming out if the soil on all my plants. And now mold is growing like crazy. I had never ever ever had this problem in all my years of growing...Be very very careful when you buy as you never know what special plant this will kill. I have been buying Miracle Grow stuff all my years and this is the first yime this company has let me down.

We are sorry that you are disappointed with your purchase of Miracle-Gro Indoor Potting Mix. Our soils are not sterilized, and may contain microorganisms such as fungus. However, fungus or mold has been scientifically proven to improve the growth of plants. It should go away with sunlight and air circulation. This could also help to clear the soil of gnats. We want you to be aware that we do back our product with a product guarantee. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to speak further about this. You can reach us at 877-220-3089.
