Can this be used to enhance a old ceramic tile floor that has dulled over time?

You've come to the right place. Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Seal & Enhance can certainly be applied to a ceramic tile floor. Keep in mind that the surface must be dry and free of contaminants including previously applied sealers, coatings, waxes, dirt, lime & hard water deposits, efflorescence, rust, and other heavy dirt and grime. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

We like how you think! The coverage of Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants 511 Seal & Enhance is about 250 to 4,000 square feet per gallon. The coverage rate is dependent on the type of substrate, the location, how much traffic it is exposed to, etc. so it is difficult to give a precise approximation. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Unfortunately no. I contacted the manufacturer and they do not recommend any of their products for use on plates or on other surfaces that will have direct contact with food. These are not food-grade coatings and not intended for use on these surface types. Hope this helps/

Glad to lend a hand. We would recommend trying cleaning the surface first since it sounds like the Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants 511 Seal & Enhance may have accumulated dirt and grime over time. For this, we suggest using Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Tile & Stone Cleaner. It is ph neutral, so it will not damage the stone. If that doesn't work, feel free to call us at (800) 350-1901 so we can troubleshoot further. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Miracle-Sealants-32-oz-Tile-and-Stone-Cleaner-TSC-QT-H/100085806 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5

Would this work on an interior wall made of pelitic schist (AKA Wissahickon, PA stone)?

Asked by KSM June 7, 2020

Answer

You've come to the right place, Katya! Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Seal and Enhance would not be suggested for this particular substrate. The highs and lows in the color and texture of the stone can result in a patchy or blotchy appearance. Instead, consider Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants Porous Plus Sealer. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Miracle-Sealants-511-1-Qt-Porous-Plus-PLUSQT6/207164872 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 4

Applied 2 coats to my honed marble floor, waited a week to dry. Just walked on it with sneakers and see footprints, why?

Asked by Tacsem1973 May 31, 2020

Answer

Good question! Rust-Oleum Miracle Sealants 511 Seal & Enhance is a penetrating sealer. Liberally apply an even application of the product, allowing it to penetrate for 3 - 5 minutes, then wipe up all excess before it dries. All excess must be wiped off in 3-5 minutes. If the solution was not wiped up in 3-5 minutes you can use acetone or mineral spirits to remove the excess. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

Test before installing tile
Always test on your tile before you install the tile. As you can see from the photo, it turned my light gray natural stone tile dark brown. Definitely not the look I was hoping for. Not sure if this can be returned after being opened, but at least I didn't ruin any installed tile.

Used this to seal Aspect stone tiles. It was recommended by Aspect and worked as advertised. I applied it with a paint brush and went behind with a cloth to mop up any excess. Tie colors of the stone tile did darken and color variations are easier to see and in my opinion look sharper. Clean up was very easy and I may put it to seal grout.

I used this on our Wisconsin Cobble and it really brought out the beautiful, unique colors of each stone. I applied twice as recommended. Rather than painting each stone, I used a spray bottle which was a big time-saver!

I pressure wash my patio flagstone ~ each year and have tried various color enhancers. This 511 Seal & Enhance is the best I ever used. I couldn’t believe the color it brought out vs my faded out stone. The picture is the treated area AFTER 12 hours so it was fully dry. This is one coat applied with paint brush. Patio gets full sun ~ 8 hrs per day in Houston Texas. I also expected it to be slippery but it was not. Will see how it holds up but so far this is great stuff!!

Did exactly as promised tiles had a chalky look used this and it deepened the color too right where I wanted it on first application. It did say reapply if you wanted to darken more. It does however have a strong odor. It does suds up when you apply I just dabbed with a clean rag. Do wear gloves. I applied this with a small chip brush to get into all the grooves.

Product says last 20 years i assume that's interior use like on real stone counters or fireplace surround. It says it can be used on exterior as well, which is my application. I used 2 coats, 1 hour apart as per instructions. Most people have a failure i notice in many projects simply because they don't read the instructions before using. Color enhancement Great Sheen: Great not too matte not too glossy. the unknown: how long will it last outside. time will tell.

This product was easy to apply and worked really well. Our shower floor tiles and seat had become whitish, as though the finish was worn off. They now look like new, 511 Seal & Enhance brought back their natural color.

Really Brings Out the Grout
We recently replaced the fiberglass tub/shower combo in one bathroom with a fully tiled walk in shower, and a stand up fiberglass shower for a fully tiled shower in another bathroom. We ended up going wtth a ceramic tile in 1 bathroom and porcelain tile in the other for the walls, and with pebble tile for the floor, niche and accent border in both. Since ceramic and porcelain are both non-porous materials, I only applied this product between the pebbles, directly on the grout. This was somewhat of a tedious process but well worth the effort; it definitely makes a difference.

Great Results
This product is easy to use. I used this on an accent stone ledger wall. The only reason I gave it a good quality rating is because it requires mineral spirits to clean. This is not environmentally friendly but it does an amazing job. I used a 2" brush to apply this product. Depending on your project you may want to consider the roller as suggested or wiping on with a rag, that you will not use again. The product foams a little bit. I'm not sure if that is the product or a reaction with the grout or minerals in the stone when applied. It doesn't detract from the final look, it was just something that I noticed. I did continue to brush through those spots where a foaming between the rocks took place. A little of this product goes a LONG way. I can see how the manufacturer gives such a broad square foot coverage based on the porosity of your substrate. Please see attached pictures as to the before and afters of how this product works. Our accent stone ledger wall looked good even before the sealer however the sealer gives it the "wet look" that we were looking for. The first picture is the stone wall naked if you will. The second picture is the stone wall sealed. The third picture is the stone wall close up. This is a good product with excellent results. I am going to try on a marble wall after reading other reviews. Good luck on your project.
