Professional Stainless Steel Heavy-Duty Garden Anvil Pruning Shears

I was pleasantly surprised at the durability of the Mockins Professional Stainless Steel Heavy-Duty Garden Anvil Pruning Shears while pruning four large muscadine vines. Using a large magnet, I realized that the handles are full tang meaning that each blade is one piece of metal that extends to almost the end of the handle.  This is a very significant feature that translates to the longevity and durability of the shears.  The handles and the anvil are made of ABS plastic which has a high density which supports the durability factor.  There are finger grooves on the lower handle with a soft TPR rubber inlay which provides a secure grip that makes the pruner very comfortable to use.  There is a stainless steel blade directly underneath the anvil to reinforce it during cutting. And, I haven't seen a Felco strip spring in any of my recently purchased pruners. 35 years ago my father gave me a pair of anvil pruner shears which were made in England that used the Felco springs- this was a pruner he had for 40 years or more which still cuts very well because of the spring.  I don't think Felco springs ever wear out as they provide uniform compression when cutting woody vines and most assuredly roses. The cutting diameter is 0.31 inches (8 mm) which is plenty of capacity for my landscape.  When I used the Mockins to trim the vines on the muscadines, the blades cut cleanly and have remained very sharp since completing that project which took less than two hours which was a first.  I would attribute that saved time to the cutting efficiency of the Mockins Anvil Pruning Shears.

I got these pruning shears especially to using on my collection of rose brushes in my yard. I have over 20 roses that need constant grooming and this Mockins brand shears cutter turned out to be excellent in my pruning my roses. I definitely would recommend these to any rose grower as a tool for maintaining their roses. Weight and blades excellent.

I like how the pivoting point of the scissoring action is in place by a locknut and bolt assembly, allowing you to take apart the pieces if necessary to sharpen the cutting blade. Overall I give these a very high rating in durability and design and feel they will do a great cutting and pruning job for any garden tasks. Very nice and comfortable in the hand . The quality is great , the construction of these Shears are durable. I like the fact that you don’t need a lot of force to cut with these. Also the grip on the bottom of the blade really helps to keep the stems from slipping out .. the only one thing I don’t like is the color. Since you’re working in a green Environment they’re easy to lose so if they had a yellow strip or maybe a red strip on them that would be really helpful.

These pruning shears have come in very handy. My sister is a huge plant lover and has tons of plants around the house. She loves these shears. I also like them myself becuase I do all the yard work. I was suprised how easily they cut through some of the thicker branchers I trimmed off my pine tree. Also I have these terrible vines that grow around my shed. This pair of shears cut them with ease. I'm sure most people buying these know how to use them but the package does come with a nice little instruction guide on the back for different uses. If you need a nice pair of shears look no further. I hope I was able to help someone today.

it is not sharp enough to prune my bushes.

A lot tougher than it looks! I was concerned inner mechanism wasn’t going to be strong enough to cut through some of my bougainvillea vines. It proved me wrong!!
