Q:Is the power vent option available for this model and the part/kit number?
by|Jan 23, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: A power vent is not an option, as the Modine Hot Dawgs come with a factor installed power vent. Therefore this is not a natural draft unit. If you scroll down the Home Depot product listing page, you will find a section labeled "Info and Guides". There you will find a PDF of the use and care manual. Venting is discussed on page 6-12.

Q:How many square feet does it heat?
by|May 23, 2018
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: There is no direct relationship between square footage of floor space and how much heating capacity you need to install. When it is suggested there is, the formulas typically end up oversizing the product in the vast majority of cases which greatly decreases the efficiency and longevity of the equipment. As I am sure you can envision the same structure if located in Alaska is going to need a lot more capacity than it would if located in Florida. The proper way to size heating is to do a heat loss calculation. There are many free programs on line that will do this for you. Basically you enter room sizes, window sizes, construction type, geographic location, etc. and the program will calculate how much heat the structure will lose on the coldest hour of the coldest day of the typical year. Selecting the capacity that is matched to the actual load you will get the longest and most efficient run times. Once I have the baseline heatloss figure, I sometimes will then oversize it when heating a garage. That is because people often keep this type of space cool. Having the extra capacity will help you to raise the temperature faster on a cold day.

Every year since I have owned it, something has gone wrong. Now this winter just started and I need to replace the Motor and power vent assembly. You can't just go to hardware store and buy parts. Authorized shop is only one that can order parts for dealers. And of course I can't know what the price is. If a store sells any product, they should be able to get parts for customers.

I am sorry that you have had issue with your unit. If you want to call me with the complete model number and serial number that appears on the rating plate. I can have Modine pull the build sheet on your unit and give you the part numbers and prices on any parts you need. You can then order them through any Home Depot. Please keep in mind they have made this unit for almost two decades and have made changes so I must have the complete info to do this, Chris 978 651 3301

The Product has been mounted but not yet hooked up. I can only comment that it was easy to mount but requires some skill and some sort of mechanical equipment such as a manual or electric lifting tool due to its weight.
